I clean the exterior of my notebook every week or so. The screen and keyboard are my main areas of concern since they collect dust and lint easily. I clean the interiors maybe bi-monthly at best, though. I just get lazy when I think about disassembling it to clean everything.

I usually wait until there is distracting fingerprints and smudges on the screen, in my case that = 2 or 3.

I wait until my keys start getting that (ugly, imo) shine, then use rubbing alcohol + paper towel to wipe it off. Sometimes do this to the lid as well.

Keeping it clean is a must for me. I take pride in the fact that my near 3 year old laptop still looks like day one. Once a week I will wipe it down with a cotton cloth and a mixture of 1 part dishwashing soap and 10 parts water. Does a good job on removing the oil from your skin. Once a month I will close all the ports and rinse it off under the sink. Then give it a final rinse in distilled water. I will then spray some wax detailer for an automobile and shine/protect it up. Still looks like brand new, even though I use it in some pretty extreme places.

I clean my laptop as much as I can, but my current laptop is so old that I don't care as much anymore. My new laptop, I'll probably clean it every day when I get it.

I would be more anal (it kills me to see it dirty), but it seems that when I get so concerned with keeping dirt off, something always ends up scratched. Pretty much the same way with my car. It looks a little dusty if you wash it once a month, but start keeping it clean weekly, and birds aim for it within ten minutes of you finishing the wax job.

Ive tried doing this, but found it to be a test in futility as it would just re-shine a few days later. Oh and IM one of those people that if I touch any food I wash my hands before touching my laptop so its all natural oils I guess.

Now I dust meticulously, wipe down the screen to remove smudges and whatever may be on it and I wipe the keys with windex or lysol from time to time. Id say once every 2-3 weeks to a month I do this along with the inside of the laptop. Although I have noticed that the dells I have had recently are very similar to my thinkpads and that they dont collect dust at all. So really just an "incase" clean.

I should probably do that. The top of my screen has so many fingerprints on it because that's what I grab when I open it up...In the right light, it makes it look horrendous...

I keep a pack of the electronic wipes (wal-mart) in my notebook bag and use them whenever mine is smudged up or gets dusty. I tend to give it a good wipe down weekly. I also use canned air on the fans and vents (open cover) once a month or so.

I just check the temps every few weeks to make sure there isn't dust in the fan and otherwise it looks like it hasnt been used in 5 months

I use canned air once a month or so. And use cleaner and microfiber cloth when grimy.

as I use an external mouse and keyboard, I just get limited fingerprints from opening and closing. I probably still wipe down once or twice a week. I am more worried about dust bunnies on the inside than the few fingerprints I put on. I always have a couple cans of air and lens cleaning wipes on hand...

Usually, when the laptop is new, the cleaning frequency is high.
As it gets older, the frequency decreases :D

Hmmm, I tried to clean my laptop but I kinda messed the keyboard abit.
I didnt take out the fan or the GPU because you need to take out the system board.
    Its scary :chatterbox:
