    Sorry to hear about it.
If the previous repair was done within the past 60 days then MSI USA will cover the repair.
And if this is a similar issue then contact them and ask them to cover it due to bad repair, but if not then you will have to cover the repair fee again unfortunately.

It's legal if they determine the cause to be accidental damage, unless you have an accidental warranty and are within its period of coverage.

The hinge broke in less than 2 weeks after its reparation.I noticed by accident since it didnt make any sound this time.
The laptop hasnt fallen nor used to open walnuts. It has been on a tablw the whole time, and the lid has been opened/closed normally, not with a brute force or anything.

Have you contacted MSI again to have them to take care of this issue for you?
They will take care of this, including shipping.

Hey comunity, i just bought a new msi ge60 Apache pro, and im loving this thing, but there are some problems that urge me
While gaming, CPU and GPU can get easily at 90ºC with a ambient temp of 34ºC, Are this temperatures safe?, can my computer break by having those?.
And the other thing, is that even on idle (60ºC CPU and GPU), you can feel a lot of heat coming out where you pun the hands on, and while gaming sometimes it burn, and the thing is that, the bottom part of the computer is cooler than the top part, is this normal? or should i RMA it?

    My computer:
    RAM: 4gb
    CPU: i5 4200h
    GPU: GTX 860m
    HDD: 750gb 7200RPM

Hi GE60 community. I have just performed a BIOS upgrade of my Win8 GE60 2OC Model MS-16GC to the latest version 51E (downloaded from MSI website) BIOS upgrade performed manually from inside BIOS and completes without errors. After BIOS upgrade upgrade my Win8 no longer boots? The boot process is looping showing the MSI logo, black screen and then back to MSI logo. The Win8 hard drive and Windows boot manager is visible in BIOS settings. Any ideas on the reason and how to fix this?
    BIOS version: E16GCIMS.51E
    EC version: 16GCEMS1 Ver5.05

    Hi guys,
I purchased a MSI GE60 0NC (GE60H-i765M2811B) with the GTX 765M about a year ago and changed the OS to Win7. Lately I got a constant bluescreen on startup and sent the notebook to repair. They said it was a software issue and recommended to reinstall Win8.
So I did but after the install the SSD-s (2x64) are not raided anymore, so I have one 64GB SSD and the other one is not showing. Any ideas why it's like that? The only thing I changed in BIOS was that I changed the LEGACY to UEFI (the third option is UEFI with CMS). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, does anyone have a handy link for the drivers? The old link I got from this forum is not working anymore.
    Thanks!

This was caused by workmanship in the repair center.
Best to notify them about the issue and have them to take care of it.
Or, you can simply use the recovery discs to restore your OS by yourself instead, if the system is back at your possession.

But you probably don't want Win8 but Win7, what you did was correct if you were installing Windows 7.
So simply change the UEFI mode to LEGACY, then SATA mode to RAID mode.
Recreate the RAID array, and reload OS using USB flash drive.

The drivers are available on MSI's website, see below URL.
    Win7 x64 Driver downloads

The driver you need for RAID is Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver, you will need to download, extract it onto an USB flash drive. Then plug the flash drive into USB 2.0 port in order for the OS to see and load the RAID driver.

    Thanks Kevin,
I'll stick to Win8 this time, as I don't want any more bluescreens. Do I have to reinstall OS after installing the RAID drivers? OS is on the 64GB SSD right now.
Do I have to change the boot order for the drivers on USB to load?

No need, because it's one time installation so leave SSD as 1st boot drive.
Use F11 to manually change to USB to boot from since you will only need it once.

Hey there, purchased a GE60 a few months back, love it. However, today i went to upgrade to 16gb or ram (from 8) and the computer refuses to start with a 2nd stick installed. I thought it may be the ram, so I ran through all 3 individually and they all started. Is there any known issues with this models particular ram slots? The ram i purchased was the ddr3 16gb pc3-12800 16mhz from Patriot. It is the MAC series ram, not sure if this would cause an issue. Thanks in advance for any help!

If you want 16GB of RAM you have to remove 8GB ones ... GE does not support more RAM than 16GB ...
From what you've sad it seems like you have 16+8 = 24 ...

Ah, yeah I can see the confusion in my wording. I was trying to upgrade to 16, I added a 2nd 8. If I added the other stick of 8, the computer would not boot. Blue light started (power indicator on front), and then an orange light at the power button. I could feel the PC/fan start to spin, then it just stopped. I didnt do my research before hand since I was in a pinch, and grabbed a 16gb (2x8) pack. Going to take the ram back tomorrow, and exchange for a single 8, see if this may fix it.

    Hey guys,

I own a MSI GE60 20E for about a year and a 4 months, but today the sound just isn`t working anymore. It was working pretty fine, and then, kaboom!, no sound from any devices.

I tried to use a headphone, no sound at all too.

I tried rebooting, reinstalling drivers, checking inside the notebook if there was some weird smell (from burned components), no results too.

If it`s the soundcard that got HW problems, there`s no way to replace it, right?

    Technical info:
    - replaced Win 8 OS for Win 7. After 1 month it just crashed with Win 8, replaced for Win 7 and since then worked just fine.
    - replaced original HD. It just crashed along with Win 8. Now I have a Samsung 1TB 5400 RPM.
    - no other HW components were replaced / included. I have yet to buy a SSD.

I was not successful. Re-reading your comments, I don't understand this sentence: Recreate the RAID array, and reload OS using USB flash drive.
I tried to load the drivers on a USB stick but the F11 boot options didn't have the USB as an option (I tried with different Intel Rapid Storage drivers). When I change the "SATA Mode Selection" from BIOS from AHCI to RAID, then Windows can't load (gets stuck in a restart loop). Do I need to install OS from a USB? I only have the Win8 and Win8.1 DVD-s.
    Thanks for patience :)

Yeah, looks like its the 2nd slot is faulty. Placed my original stick in, and nothing. if anything is in that 2nd slot, computer will not boot.

Does anyone here know where I could get a new battery for the MSI GE60 (made for America)? I know MSI sells new batteries, but each one costs ~$100. I'm thinking about a 3rd party battery.

I went to AliExpress and got a $30 new battery that was suppose to be compatible with my laptop, but it's not. The new battery is a 9 cell battery with the BTY-S14 label, 11.1 V, and 7800 mAh. My original battery is a 6 cell battery with the BTY-S14 label, 11.1 V, and 4400 mAh.

My MSI GE60 laptop is unable to correctly charge and discharge the new 9-cell battery. My laptop will constantly change from charging the new 9-cell battery to saying the new 9-cell battery has a problem (e.g., yellow blinking light for the battery indicator near the touch-pad) to saying the new 9-cell battery is 100% charged to 50% charged to 100% charged to 25% charged to 100% charged to no battery detected and so forth. I charged the new 9-cell battery for over 8 hours, but the battery only powers my laptop for ~40 minutes before my laptop abruptly shuts down.

AliExpress and Ebay have 6 cell batteries with the BTY-S14 label and 11.1 V label. Each one costs around $20 to $25. I haven't tried them, yet. After my initial lousy experience with the 9 cell battery, I'm more cautious now about any 3rd party battery.

I am wondering if MSI laptops (especially the new ones) only accept MSI proprietary batteries due some proprietary chip design. Maybe the MSI GE60 cannot handle the 9-cell battery, but it could handle 6 cell batteries from 3rd parties.

Installed Win 7 pro 64bit on my GE60 2OE today ,was never happy with the video quality when viewing movies or HD video files. Win 8 /8.1 was fully updated with lastest Video drivers from Intel & Nvidia but video's were still slighty blurry .
On win 7pro the video quality is sharp & clear so i'm happy i down graded to win 7.
Installing win 7 was not straightforward though as i had to change the boot setting in the bios to allow win 7 to work.
I downloaded all the necessary win 7 drivers from MSI site & the computer works perfect.
Very happy with the notebook now !!!
