Killer 1535 still uses BT 4.1 on Xubuntu 16[Latest kernel 4.13.0.16]. You can use
    Code:
    hciconfig -a
and it will output HCI 4.1 (0x7)

How long does it usually take for HIDevolution to ship out a laptop?

Glad I don't have to deal with the US Post Office in California on a regular basis!!!

HIDevolution provided me with the USPS tracking number for my laptop on 29 November. I have checked the tracking number everyday since then and all it showed is where it had been accepted at the local post office where HID is located. Today it finally shows scanned in to the Post Office Regional Distribution Center in Los Angeles. It took 5 days for the US Postal Service to move my laptop a total of 24.9 miles which according to Google Maps would be a 30 minute drive.

To give you some perspective, I work overseas on a US military base and where I am is about 7000 miles from the US. I order stuff off of Amazon all the time and it all ships through the US Postal Service and I have it in my hands within 7-10 days of shipping. Of course none of this stuff ships from California.

Woot, just got an MSI GT75VR TITAN PRO-202. Ordered online without talking to anyone and got a call from @Donald@HIDevolution shortly after, lol. Was like nine at night here and was shocked I got a call for this. He helped me go through all the order and we slightly changed it a bit. Very nice and informative.

My problem is not with HIDevolution at all. They had my laptop built, tested/benchmarked, and shipped in 3 days from the time I got the notice that the build had started. I am thoroughly impressed!!!

My issue is the USPS. My shipment finally hit the International Distro Center in Chicago yesterday so it will be about 5 more days before I receive my laptop....The wait is killing me!!!

LOL.....I sent a simple email with a couple of questions and included my cell number (which I don't normally do). Later my cell rang and it showed a California number. I wouldn't normally answer that call since the number isn't in my contacts and I didn't know who it was but for some reason I thought it was one of my cousins so I answered. Yep, it was @Donald, I nearly fell out of my chair!!!!! I wasn't necessarily going to place my order that night but he was so very helpful, going through all the options. I spent considerably more than I had originally planned but when all is said and done I got what I "wanted" rather than probably what I "needed" (honestly I usually go the "overkill" route....LOL).

It's my #1 most satisfying purchase experience I've EVER had and when I need another MSI laptop (which I am already planning for my sister in about 4-5 months) I will contact @Donald. I felt immediately that I could trust his judgement and recommendations....and I don't normally feel that way about many of the salespeople I've talked with.

You are right. I have confirmed with the boss that, since 4.2 is almost strictly Internet of Things related, most Bluetooth device drivers are 4.1, even in Linux, even though the hardware and Linux are both technically capable.

Donald has been around the block a few times. The man knows what he's doing, and he doesn't forget a (virtual) face. I had ordered a couple notebooks from him more than 10 years ago, and he remembered those transactions when we were discussing the Clevo system I ordered from HID last year.

Hope it gets here before Christmas. There is a wild traffic going on right now in customs check.

To add to the discussion of how long it takes to get your laptop, it can take a while, but it's worth it. I placed my order on Nov 26th, charged on Nov 30th, notified about a part being out of stock on Dec 1st (the seemingly notoriously out of stock 960 Pro 512GB), order shipped on Dec 12th (I had paid for a rush build), and the laptop arrived on Dec 19th (Fedex is having delays and pushed back arrival by 3 days). Now that's it's here I'm really happy and throughout the process the communication was great. If you have questions/concerns I would reach back out to Donald as he was really helpful when I missed the out of stock message and was wondering what was taking so long.

    Aloha Everyone,

I just ordered my MSI GT75VR 7RF TITAN PRO 4K-082 from HIDevolution. After placing the order I got a call from Donald, he made sure I was getting what I needed and in the process wound up saving me money. This kind of customer service is unheard of these days not to mention he called me on Christmas. Thanks again Donald!

Awesome! Congratulations. Once you get it, feel free to tag me if you want me to help you tweak it.

To tag me, just type @ Phoenix without the space between the @ sign and my name and tell me that you got it so I can PM you.

    These are the Phoenix Tweaks:

1- Uninstallation of all the Windows Store Garbage Apps like 3D Paint, Print 3D, Alarms & Clock, Feedback Hub, Maps, Groove Music, News, Weather, etc.
2- Removing all Windows 10 Privacy Invasion stuff like Telemetry, sending your keystrokes to Microsoft, automatically installing suggested apps in the background, allowing Microsoft to conduct experiments on your laptop, disabling automatic driver updates through Windows updates, disabling Windows 10 ads, disabling Cortana, Cloud Search etc.
3- Removal of nVIDIA and Intel Telemetry
4- Adjusting a lot of options in PC Settings like disabling Windows Tablet Mode (you have a laptop not a tablet), disabling suggestions appearing in the start menu, disabling automatically connecting to Paid WiFi Hotspots, disabling Game DVR which reduced performance in games, and a lot more.
5- Replacing Cortana with a much better search tool that finds results instantly called Everything which finds any file you want as soon as you start typing even a few letters of its name and it doesn't even rely on the Windows Indexing Service to do this!
6- Restoring the classic Windows Photo Viewer
7- Restoring the Classic Windows 7 Start Menu
8- Removal of the new and useless 3D Objects Folder that appears when you open "Computer"
9- Completely disabling Windows Defender from its roots (including all scheduled tasks and startup files) for those who want to install their own AV. ESET NOD32 Antivirus is highly recommended if you want the utmost security with the least system performance impact.

We can usually ship within about 7-12 Business Days after payment received, or parts become available, but we offer a Rush Order of 1-5 Business Days after payment received, or parts become available, refunded if not possible, for a $50 fee. If you would like Rush Order please let me know and I will add it to your order.

Haha... just rediscoverd my account from 6-7 years ago :D

Was asking about laptops back then and caused a tizzy.

Well... I'm back in the market and the way most people would buy their dream car, I'm now in a position to buy a dream laptop.

Did a search here and spoke to Donald over at HIDevolution... super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable dude.

Long story short... here's what I'm about to 'Hit The Buy Button' on...

    Woohoo!! :D

I only needed to render a 90 second video in after effects xD

congratulations man, that's one heck of a beast there, the only thing I'd add is a 2TB HDD in that empty 2.5' bay slot to store your movies and data that doesn't really need any speed like moving your docs/pics/music/videos libraries from the default C: location where the OS is installed to that HDD which should probably be drive E:

You are going to love this beast. I played BF1 for 5 hours yesterday and the hottest the gpu got was 67 C. The screen is amazing. No image blur that I can see. Color accuracy is really good. The fans can get loud but i have good headphones and never hear them.

The keyboard takes time to get used to. Takes too much pressure to actuate the keys for my taste but its something im getting used to.

    Hi, everyone!

I'm very pleased with the way my afternoon has gone: I've just finished a two-hour phone conversation with the incredible Donald S at HIDevolution. What an amazing gentleman he is: patient, tolerant, knowledgeable, and unbelievably helpful.

I placed a call there to discuss specifics of (and ask questions about) my configuration of their custom-built MSI GS43VR 7RE Phantom Pro-069 14-inch laptop. That had been my intent.

Well, after asking me what I was looking for and would be using the laptop for--and listening carefully to my responses--he suggested I take a look at the MSI GS63 STEALTH-061 15.6-inch laptop.

Since one of my have-to's was a lighter laptop, somewhere between 3 and 4.17 pounds--something I'd explained in the beginning--I immediately thought he'd steered me to a unit that would be too heavy for my purposes. Boy, was I wrong! 3.75 lbs. for the 14-inch vs. 3.96 pounds for the 15.6-inch--there's a difference I can easily live with. :) Donald had listened, he'd remembered, and--best of all--he knew exactly what to have me look at for my purposes.

Next, one by one, we went through all the configs I had thought I wanted/needed, and in many cases he explained carefully why I did not need all that I'd thought I did, given my work and my goals. In the end, he saved me quite a bit of money--but most important, by the time we'd finished, he'd helped me configure a model that should work perfectly for me, for years.

I am so grateful to him!

I am not a gamer; I am not a graphics artist or video editor. I'm a publishing copy editor, so most of my work is done through Word's Track Changes or a .pdf proof. I need to have a swift, stable wireless connection with perhaps 8 to 9 windows open at any one time for research/fact-checking, access to a few programs on my desktop (a dictionary, etc.)...and that's about it. Now and then I'll stream something from Netflix or Amazon for fun, but I'm not addicted, and I don't download movies.

Donald understood what I needed, and then he made my life easier by educating me so that I understood, too.

Oh! And he also told me to say "hi" to Phoenix! :)

What I've ended up with will be tame to any of you who game or are into heavy video editing, but I think it will work for me:

Congratulations, I am a big MSI fan because their laptops "just work" out of the box!

Once you get your laptop, feel free to tag me by placing an @sign right after my username (with no spaces) once you get your laptop if you want me to help you tweak it.

Whew!! That's a lot of bloat!

Thank you for the invitation to contact you, Phoenix; I appreciate it. And I fully intend to do just that, since I'll be a fish out of water when my unit arrives. I want to follow all the proper steps to get it set up.

Fortunately, I'm in no rush; as long as I know my laptop is being custom-built carefully and inspected thoroughly before it's sent, I can wait.

I'll use these next few weeks to hang around this subforum and one or two others and learn something--it's time I did!

awesome man! Congrats! my MSI GT73VR Titan Pro is the laptop that I've owned for the longest time. It's that good! You're gonna love the screen and keyboard and off-course the performance!

Let me know when you get it if you want me to help you tweak it over TeamViewer.

10- Updating all drivers to the latest versions in case they weren't up to date.
11- Disabling the performance hit that is caused by the Meltdown and Spectre patches recently released by Microsoft (optional, only if you don't mind having this security vulnerability and would rather have your CPU's full performance back)
12- Overprovisioning your SSD anywhere between 10-20% depending on how much space you can spare to ensure optimal and consistent performance at all times.

Congratulations on purchasing your MSI, you're gonna LOVE IT!!!! I also worked with Donald to purchase mine and Phoenix did his magic on it as soon as I got it. This is a FANTASTIC forum, one that I try to read every evening. A lot of it is way over my head but still, I've learned an awful lot in a short time because everyone is so helpful.

Congratulations on your purchase. I LOVE my GT75VR Titan Pro 202. I especially like the keyboard and actually type much faster with it than on any other laptop. Donald was great to work with on my order and of course Phoenix is amazing!!! I haven't done too much with my new laptop but I have been playing Destiny 2 and have made a bit of progress. Destiny 2 is the first game I've ever played (assuming that Bounce Out, Angry Birds, etc doesn't count....LOL) and I'm just terrible at it but I'm learning fast. I have no idea about all of the tweaks and settings that I should probably be doing when playing a game but this forum is a great place to gather information and I've learned a lot already.
