I got the things I put in here with the help of @Phoenix and with his custom built MSI GT73VR 7RF-425 from HIDevolution too. Many thanks too you and your reviews man. You were really helpful and really one of the main reasons I made up my mind and get the MSI GT73VR 6RF-003. You told me to make a "Ordered a MSI GT73VR 6RF TITAN from HIDevolution" thread but I wanted to wait and get the laptop before doing so. But it seem I'm already too late as this is already in here which is still a good thing. I am expecting for it to arrive this week so I'm really excited and can't wait to do nasty things with it LOL :p

Also since this thread is already up and running, I wasn't able to personally thank @Donald@HIDevolution within this forum for really helping me with my purchase. He was really cool and really approachable when I had so many questions and follow ups with my purchase. It was so hard communicating since I can only contact him through email and we're 16 hours apart but he really made it easier; and his responses were also very fast, concise and very informative. Specially when I can't send my payment to them through Money Transfer (which is a long story) and told me I can send them the money through Western Union instead; smooth sailing after that.

I really can't say this enough, thanks for the time and sorry for being too impatient (more like extreme excitement lol :D) I'll be sure to tell my friends and even my family to buy from you guys. From the words of @Phoenix REALLY THE BEST COMPANY I'VE EVER DEALT WITH! Hands down to you guys for delivering the item on time to the US address I provided (the shipping service I used -Johnny Air Plus- which specializes in delivering items from the US to the Philippines).

I am not allowed to share how to do it. This is MSI internal stuff. Please contact MSI support and ask to speak to a senior engineer to help you disable it. SW Guards is the biggest nuisance ever made by Intel. It's only for software developers and has nothing useful for normal users

If your stock BIOS does not have the option to disable SGX, then you'll need an unlocked BIOS.

I have always dreamed of owning a gaming laptop especially Alienware system. I waited for the launch of Alienware 17 R4 only to discover issues being faced within a few weeks whereas model with QHD 120 Hz with GTX 1080 was yet to be launched. I waited more to see if it all turns the other way around but seems like that isn't the case till date. In the meantime, I have been following MSI GT73VR reviews and feedback. Turns out this laptop provides way more reasons to put in your money than Alienware.

I need to specially thank @Phoenix and @Donald@HIDevolution for all the help and support. Phoenix provided in-depth review, and past experience which really shaped my decision for the laptop and most importantly purchase from HIDevolution. Donald from HIDevolution answered all my queries and even provided great suggestions regarding my configuration. Thanks a lot to you both.

Hoping to receive the laptop as early as possible and joining you guys in the GT73VR owner's club!

My status changed today to "Parts/Product On Order", which is a status not listed on their web site (but seems fairly self-explanatory).

My existing Macbook Pro is apparently developing some hardware glitches; it has crashed twice today so far. :( Once I have my MSI, I'll be able to send my Macbook off to Apple for repair.

I've been very happy with this machine, which was made back in the old days (2013) when Apple understood what "Pro" means. (Hint: A touchbar for putting emojis in Twitter is not a "Pro" feature, nor is a GPU that's two generations outdated on the day you announce the new system, nor is a keyboard that is worse than some of the docking keyboards for tablets. But I digress.)

I'm going to be keeping my Mac, partly to assist others in my company who use them, but mostly because I need to test my Unity applications (which are multi-platform capable) on OSX.

You're just jealous because my Macbook has a soldered BGA CPU, your favorite! :)

The new 2016 models, which I refused to even consider buying, have soldered CPU, GPU, RAM, and even SSD! Talk about a Turdbook! Pbbbbhooey!

Disclaimer: I will not be responsible if you brick your system with the below method. This will also void your warranty.

Another (dangerous and high-risk) option would be to do it yourself. You can find all the tools and information you need to unlock your BIOS here - http://voltground.com/haven/threads/102/

EDIT: I want to clarify something since there was a confusion as the link mentions about ASUS ROG notebooks. Basically what the post says is that if you have a newer CPU like the 6th Generation Skylake or the 7th Generation Kaby Lake, you will most likely have the v5 firmware and hence need the AMIBCP v5 tool.

The link that I posted does not contain any mods. It has the AMI tools which should work for saving/flashing any AMI APTIO BIOS.

That might work for certain notebooks , but for a lot of them unlocking advanced chipset options requires a lot more work.

Sure, it may not work for all notebooks.
Just for completeness, here is a screenshot showing the SGX enabled. This is what he would want to disable, for whatever reason I don't understand. I too use a Wireless Mouse - the Logitech G602. Never had any stuttering or lag and as you can see, SGX is enabled in my BIOS. This problem could be specific to MSI laptops.

It's a BIOS mod site, those are BIOS modification => mod's.

They say so themselves, search for mod, it's all over the page.

And, it's for ROG Notebooks of all kinds, check the next level up, and in the text of the page you posted:

"Step 1. If your ROG Notebook has an Ivy Bridge or Haswell CPU, your BIOS is Aptio 4 firmware. Download the appropriate version of AMIBCP above.
Step 2. If your ROG Notebook has a Skylake CPU, your BIOS is Aptio 5 firmware. Download the appropriate version of AMIBCP above."

It's an ROG Notebook BIOS mod site. Nothing wrong with that, it's just that it's inappropriate information for an MSI GT73VR forum thread...

Regarding wireless mouse stuttering - I have had this problem sometimes when there is a lot of interference around. I have a lot of wireless devices. Here are some tips from my own experience for whoever is facing this problem:

. Ensure there is less interference from other wireless devices
. Use 5GHZ wherever possible as opposed to 2.4GHZ
. If your device operates on 2.4GHZ (most wireless devices still do), make sure you don't have anything plugged into an USB 3.0 port, other than your wireless controller. Certain USB 3.0 devices and cables are known to cause major interference with the 2.4GHZ frequency. If your internet connection drops or slows down as soon as you plugin an USB 3.0 hard drive for example, your router could be running at 2.4GHZ.

    @Phoenix @Donald@HIDevolution
Thank you guys for helping me build my dream laptop :)

It's going to be my first gaming laptop and I'm excited now because I've struggled for 5 years with my Macbook Air that was slow with insanely low fps and laggy GoPro video editing and now it will be a memory from the past.
Can't wait till my new laptop arrives! Will give it a name :)

P.s Do you guys know the recommended strip size for a RAID 0 setup on the GT73VR? If I decide to add another 960 EVO later down the road... I think the strip size is 128K for a 250GB EVO.

Hey, I just wanted to give him the link for the BIOS tools for AMI BIOS in case he couldn't find any help and he is desperate to unlock the BIOS. The same tools for example will work on most Clevo machines.

These tools are available all over the internet on several different forums. I just posted the first link I found on google. I haven't done BIOS modding in over 10 years now, but I kinda remember how it works mostly and I just googled some information to help this guy out.

Dude it's pointless. Some people don't understand how BIOSs work. Or that the basic BIOS is pretty much the same and the same tools are used by every manufacturer to tailor the BIOS for their specific products.

If I had an MSI GT73 laptop and if my laptop was out of warranty and if I was desperate to unlock my BIOS, I would use the tools to try and unlock the hidden options in the BIOS. Anyways I don't wanna argue anymore. I just provided what information I can, not only for him, but for anyone in the future who searches for such issues and possible solutions.

The better choice would be to contact Svet on the MSI forums and donate a small amount to his efforts, and get an unlocked BIOS and BIOS tweak tools from him. Like this:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=273986.0

Or go to his main thread:
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?board=51.0

Or, ask for the BIOS unlock info from MSI, and get it unlocked from the source :)

Well, I wouldn't try anything that would void my warranty. Even though I know how easy it is to remove a BIOS chip from the board and re-flash it using a Programmer in case something goes horribly wrong ;)
Besides, my reseller @John@OBSIDIAN-PC is already working on improving the BIOS which would then be covered under the warranty :D

Oops.... I just learned that I misinterpreted a status note. Because of the Prema BIOS, it's likely that my machine won't ship quite that soon.

Dude its 5am, somehow you went tagging my name, my phone volume was so high i woke up, looked at your text, went back to sleep.
Then i started dreaming about our production line flashing the wrong BIOS in about 10 units... And how i had to unsolder the chips to program them all, i woke up sweating just now... Ufffff it was just a dream. I am now in the kitchen drinking some orange Juice.
As you see dealing with BIOS can be a nightmare.

PS. This was a true story, now im back to sleep bye bye. And by the way, it is in fact easy to program a chip but i do not know how to do it inline, so a soldered board is something you should avoid as even the Manufactures will void our warranty if they notice something like that happened.... Im now trying something different to try to do it inline.
And also you will need a more expensive programer to flash the EC ITE, never managed to do it and i just bought a new programer to try it out.

Thank you brother. Yes the wait is literally killing.
I asked Donald from HIDevolution regarding usual timelines for shipping the laptop. They ship laptop within 7-12 business days . I wonder if going for rush build for $50 is worth it or not.

I would get the rush build for $50 but I can't afford it right now :(
I really needed my laptop by next Tuesday because I'm leaving for 2 weeks and won't be home. Still not sure will probably cancel my trip.
I wish there was another way to get my laptop faster and @Donald@HIDevolution said there's a lot of people ahead of me :(

I can go for the rush build but not really willing to spend $50 just to speed up the process.

Yes, I did change my configuration :)
I removed RAID 0 and decided to go with 2x16gb of ram a total of 32gb because later it's hard to upgrade since you have to remove the whole motherboard... If I were you I would go with 32gb of ram. Besides, the 32gb will be under the keyboard and you won't have to remove the whole motherboard to access ram later and all you would have to do is buy another 16gb ram sticks and just insert it in 5seconds without removing the motherboard.

I will add RAID 0 myself later...

Actually phoenix also suggested me the same thing. Just wanted to be clear about one thing, you're saying accessing ram slots is difficult but then how will later insert it without removing the motherboard?
I believe for gaming needs 16gb ram is good enough. Not sure if there is a need to go for 32gb.

Lol .. What a night eh ! Sorry to wake you up John so early. I was up all night watching the last episodes of Breaking Bad, in between also looking at the forums. I couldn't sleep, thanks to 2 of my colleagues who managed to give me their cold just before my vacation.

Anyways as I said, I never do any crazy things when a device is still under warranty. So you can be sure you'll have one less customer to worry about the next time you dream about bricking BIOS and so on, at least for the next 2 years

If HIDevolution installs the 32gb of ram under the keyboard I can just buy another 32gb and insert it with ease. However, if I would of kept 16GB of ram which is 2x8gb it's under the keyboard and I would have to remove the motherboard myself to swap it...

Also I didn't go with 4x8gb for a total of 32gb because I wanted to save some weight lol :D

there are 4 RAM slots, 2 under the keyboard, hard to reach, and 2 under the backpanel, easily accessible

That makes sense. Is 32 gb ram really helpful compared to 16gb regarding performance in games?
I checked out ssd options and must say that i am very much tempted to opt for something which can replace conventional hdd but not sure.

Definitely replace the conventional SSD if you can. I would go with the 512GB Samsung 850 Pro
