That is what he meant...BGA has no lid, therefore it is naturally delidded.

i was playing battlefield 1 and i noticed that whatever settings i choose it doesn't lock on 120fps all the time. just like in this video. If i choose low settings the gpu usage will be reduced to 50 to 60% but the fps is still playing around 100 to 120fps, same with ultra settings the only difference is that the gpu usage is 80 to 99%. is it normal or do i have to do something

    @DRevan

I figured I would add my 2 cents to help push you. :)

Everything @Phoenix is spot on, I would just like to emphasize that you don't have to be an expert to get great performance out of this laptop. I'm a amateur overclocker, before this laptop I had OCed two gaming PCs to the max then dropped it down a bit and left them that way for years, not a lot of hands on. Today, I use DGC to get my CPU to 4.1 and GPU to a +100/150 OC which has been set to my Gaming profile, I just click that profile and launch my games. This machine will satisfy me as well as some of the seasoned veterans around here.

After following a lot of threads here and helping a friend with a lemon GS62VR I would suggest buying it from a company that will honor a refund. @hmscott mentioned some of the benefits of buying retail and would echo that, if you start to have problem return it within the refund period and get another one. The RMA through MSI has proven to be a lengthy and frustrating process.

I bought my first "gaming" laptop in 1998, an IBM Thinkpad with 32 Mb of dedicated VRAM, woo hoo! This is my 6th one and the first one bought by the same company and the first one to out perform the desktop I was using at the time. It's a beast and a pleasure to use.

I have played a ton of BF1 on this laptop and I can get it to stay at 120 FPS but there are always some drops. I was just running some tests with settings to help @Fridgeboy . http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...owners-and-discussions-lounge.794968/page-422

I running with Vsync on fast, Gsync on fullscreen in NVCP, I have a 120 FPS cap set with Rivatuner and am currently trying out using the in game FPS limit. I get drops but smooth play and low input lag.

    1) Please put your system specs in your signature like me

    2) What are your settings? GSYNC? VSYNC? Try VSYNC set to FAST and GSYNC ON

@Phoenix Thanks! I'm looking forward meeting you :)

Do you think that thermals affect performance on laptops?
I sort of wanted to go with Asus G701VI-XS72K but didn't... look at it's ram... isn't it great?

Do you think I did the right thing? :/

Talking about MSI that I ordered now...
In videos I saw that there is an empty space next to the SSD's... a huge space for something and my guess is that it's meant for another GPU...
I checked the SLI pictures of this laptop to compare. Do you think it's possible to add another graphics card 1080 with heat-pipes?

My specs are 7820hk, 16gb ram, gtx 1080, full hd 120hz. 1tb hd, 256 ssd.

G sync is on in the control panel, vertical sync is on, v sync is off in the game settings.

I can get it to play at 120fps but there are some fps drops. It can reach up to 80s and 90s sometimes specially during clashes with many enemies but what i don't understand is that the gpu usage is around 80 to 99%. So i tried lowering the settings until the lowest preset to maintain a lock on 120fps but still there are drops to 90s but the gpu usage is around 50 to 60%

It is a lot easier to put your specs in your signature as Phoenix suggests...that way you only have to do it once. Then, anytime you ask for help, they will be there so we know better how to help you.

go to nVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > Power Management

then set your GPU to High Performance or Adaptive rather than the default Optimal setting then reboot and try again

@RalfTech It depends what kind of temperatures you are talking about. Generally exceeding certain levels of temperatures lead to reduced performance.
i believe you have made a great choice. As far as Asus is concerned, i have not heard anything good about the laptops. Moreover @Phoenix has tried asus laptop and after listening to his experience, i am sure to never go for asus.

To reassure your decision, i had discussions with @Donald@HIDevolution and @Phoenix. And i have also decided to go for Msi GT73VR w/ GTX 1080. I earlier wanted to go for AW 17 R4 but with all the issues people are facing and thermal not yet resolved completely after some changes to heatsinks i think it would be foolish to throw in my money for that.

I have another concern, there's a time that i was about to play battlefield 1 and i forgot to plug in the charger. I noticed the fps was low so i plugged it in, however the fps didn't increase even if the charger was plugged in. I restarted the laptop and the problem was solved. To further investigate, I tried to plug out the charger in the middle of the game and the fps decreased to 30fps as expected but when i plugged it back again, the fps increased to 120fps. Is this normal? I'm still eligible to return this for replacement until saturday so I'm checking every corner for problems.

Here's a video of reenactment, first part is i forgot to plug in the charger before playing a battlefield 1

2nd video, i plugged off the charger while playing battlefield 1

The power will be reduced to your system below a certain battery level, in the first example you battery must have been below that threshold and in the second one you were above it so when you reconnected the power it went back to normal.

What do you mean by battery level? During that time both of them have about 80% percent remaining. The only difference is the first vid the charger was not plugged before playing battlefield 1 (think of it like you thought that the charger was plugged), in the 2nd vid the charger was unplugged while playing.

With the power plugged in you will still get reduced power to the system until the battery reaches a level of charge, I think it may be %80. I discovered this when I went to play BF1 after traveling and the battery was really low, I had really low performance until the battery charged up. So if the battery was low in the first example then you would have the low FPS, in the second example it seem like you were above that threshold so the FPS shot back up when plugging it back in.

Actually right after the first video, i made the 2nd vid so basically they were made both at the same time and battery level. Have you tried it with your unit?

My unit is packed away now, I only had the one experience with it, most of the time I'm plugged in so I rarely let the battery get too low. Are you able to duplicate this every time?

im also plugged most of the time, my battery never got below 60% ever since so it was only by chance that i found out this thing. it only happens to me when i intend to do it or when i forgot to plug it which is only once and that was the first and only. otherwise no prob, ive been playing battlefield 1 for 4 hours straight

Just wanted opinion of your guys regarding the choice of warranty to go for being an international customer of HIDevolution. So what do you say? Is that 1 year global warranty (standard first option) good enough?

    Nice specs brah

When you get it, register it with MSI, then you will receive an extra 3 months worth of warranty.

You can't register it now as you need its serial number and a little check code that's printed under the laptop

You can register an account with MSI then so you are ready to add a product once you receive your laptop

oh if you can get extended warranty and it doesn't cost much, go for it. I was talking about the free 3 months warranty extension by simply registering your device and completing a short survey

MSI has a standard 1 year global warranty with accidental damage coverage

With any other laptop brand, Global Warranty is a must for international customers like m3 & j00

Luckily, the MSI comes with a free 1 year global warranty + accidental damage so unless you want to extend it to 2 years, then leave it as it is.

Each year costs an additional $200 USD

Well then i believe i should leave that option to its standard selection for 1 year MSI global warranty. Hoping that MSI authorised service centre in Dubai would not provide an experience like you had with ASUS.

depends on how long you plan to keep the laptop. If you plan on keeping it long, then I would try to squeeze in more money and upgrade the warranty to 2 or 3 years.

I have no idea what you're talking about bro.

I use SVP to play all my movies @ 120FPS but on HDMI only @ 60 FPS since my Sony TV has a max refresh rate of 60hz

    Smooth Video Project FTW

is your sony tv 4k with hdr 10 support?

i backup my ultra hd blurays which play at 4k with hdr on a bluray player. does the laptop have any issues in reproducing the picture quality with this type of file?

thx for the svp link, i was using a whole bunch of other players on my current asus gl552v and i am not happy with the results

I communicated with @Donald@HIDevolution by email today. My system is held up temporarily waiting for the Prema BIOS to be available. This also will let me run the fast RAM that I ordered with it (I figured the RAM was worth it -- go big or go home). ETA is early March, I think. Agony of waiting, but Prema BIOS is totally worth it.

Where do you sell it usually?
Do you think that there will be GPU upgrades available later?
Is the CPU even upgradable on this machine?

Thank you for offering me help with the BIOS. I greatly appreciate it. Once it arrives I'll let you know and I assume it won't be here for a while. How long was your order on "Payment Review Complete" just curious? I'm so eager to get it just like Mr Donald said.

I sell it on these forums or locally through are eBay kinda site in Dubai called Dubizzle

I don't think anything. When a new GPU is out, it's out, stop looking into the future brah.

CPU is not up gradable, it's soldered onto the motherboard

How long did that order take? 6 business days because I paid 50 USD extra for a rush build so don't expect the same. These questions should be directed to HIDevolution for more details upon your order

my TV is a 7 year old HD TV from Sony. don't need anything more as I rarely use it

Once you use SVP, you will NEVER watch anything without it and once you go to the movie theater and watch a movie there, you will think what the heck is this, it's so jerky / choppy compared to what your eyes will be accustomed to with SVP

once you install SVP and it runs its benchmark and configures itself

exit SVP, then launch it again normally not by right clicking and choosing Run As Admin otherwise you will get an error in MPC_HC saying error communicating with SVP
