hello laptop gurus, how well do you guys think the MSI Gs60's GTX970m would perform under 3K res playing games like league of legends, and watch dog ? also how well does a 3K screen scale to playing at 1080p ?? thank you !!

I'm seeing everyone excited for the GS or the GT72. What about the GT 60? Seems to me it's a great price. Am I missing something?
I'm really considering it, but I don't want to throw money away -

Also, any chances of a 970m 6gb instead of 3gb on it ? -

One large fan and decent heatsinks will take you far with the 970m. There is also extra you can do if you want to tweak it.

Check out either XoticPC or Powernotebooks and you'll see the models available for pre-order. They come with a 4980HQ with the IPS display as well as 512gb SSD and 1T SSD respectively. Cost aboutt $3300 for one or $3900 for other

Figures! Just after I got my Stealth 037. Just my luck
.
What are the chances I would be able to return/exchange(GenTech) for the new model?

The isnt a way for us to upgrade the GPU to the 6GB version. -
Why can they not update the design of the GT70? Hasn't it been years and years on this same old chassis?
-
the GT72 is kind of the successor of the GT70...what bugs me it's that the GT 60 is the only 980M 15" in the line up and at the opposite of the GT70, did not receive an update at all.
-
What are the possibilities of upgrading from the 680M in the GT70 (Rev. 2012, specific model: 0NE-609US) to the 980M (i.e.: is an MXM board available, and compatible)?

No sorry but saw it in a leak, GT60 dominator will undoubtely be released with a 980m gtx but in another "wave" of releases.
Right now clearly deceived : no 15" 980m from msi, and TN panels for GS60 whereas the previous 870m version had ips... Going to wait for a clevo P650 or P150SM (if the slim one has throttle issues) -

do anyone know where can i get the cheapest configuration for a msi laptop equipped with 980m in it in germany/europe ? all the available laptops there are equipped with much more stuff i don't need like 3 or 2 SSD's . i need like a 1 tb 7200 rpm hdd with an i7 processor and 8 gigs of ram long with the 980m an that's it .

You might want to wait for a barebone version of it.

So I *JUST* bought an 15.6" MSI GT60 Dominator with an 880m gpu, i7 4810mq cpu for $2300 (although they are now on sale for $2000 so I'm probably going to get a rebate for $300 since it's been less than a week since I ordered my new laptop). Considering swapping to the MSI ghost 15.6" with the i7 4710mq cpu and gtx 970m gpu for $1800 *OR* the MSI gt72 with the i7 4710mq cpu and gtx 980m gpu for $2300... is it worth doing this or should I just keep what I've already got - the only reason I'm even considering this is because I won't have to pay a restocking fee due to a premium membership... really prefer the smaller screen but thinking I could give the bigger one a try if it's really worth it.

Sorry, wrong thread.

All resellers will get such stock at a similar time but it's up to MSI to decide when that is

Well seeing as I have premium Newegg membership and a month to return anything (most importantly, no restocking fee haha), I just ordered the MSI GT72 with the 980m card and i7 4710hq to test out both and see which gives me more performance in benchmarking and probably in FRAPS with a couple games so I can get a real application estimate. Will probably post some stats if anyone is interested. The MSI GT72 doesn't come with a 3K screen but as I generally use 1080p that doesn't bother me (and supposedly it comes as anti-glare which could be nice).

You will have to wait for cards to become more available, likely January due to supply restrictions.

Ok. Thanks!
