Guys, the machine may actually possibly run on a brushed silver aluminium chasis with the red design but its still unknow,

Medion now have a rebrand in their possession ( i have several medion products including a few msi rebrand) very reliable and good company, (10 year old machines now :) )

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P5fIPoXhoKk

    Video for the akoya x7811

    HD 5870
    I7 720q
    Up to 8 GB DDR3
    Up go 640GB HDD (Single)

The GX740 Will share the specs on the sheet i'm about to list, but the MSI will most likely have much more and the Akoya probably missing out on any OC ability and eco modes (Possibly a stripped down pannel like the Advents.)

Gotta keep an eye out for one of those Medions. They sell them in some supermarkets over here, but I don't think ive seen any high-end ones. €999 in Europe would be mega-cheap for a gaming laptop, though I don't know if thats vat inclusive

Its basically advent all over again,

Except medion are an uprated brand in comparison, i can garantee you that, from rebrands, their own products and in home repair service (If they still offer that.)

    You just can't compete :).

Xoticpc is now reporting their ETA as April for this model. Given how far back ordered the Asus G73s are I wonder which I could get first

Got mixed feelings about the red trim.
Great specs but so so looks.
    The delays don't help either.

I saw Rob (RK Comp) report saw May was the new ETA but never saw the Xotic page update. So I checked with one of Xotic's reps to just to get an update and was told April.

No offense Rob, I like having plenty of info before I drop a stack of cash. :)

I am really interested in this laptop. My predicament is that I have a buyer for my Sager (unexpectedly, just fell into my lap), which I hadn't planned on selling for several months yet. And I'm returning my M11x before 21 days are up, just isn't for me.

    So I'll be laptopless :(

Although I may still get an HP Mini 311 as my netbook, so I guess that will have to suffice until I get my "real" laptop. It's between this and the ASUS G73JH-A2 but I really like this MSI. I hope ETA is truly by end of March at latest from at least one retailer that I can buy from.

Yep, XoticPC confirmed mid to late April for ETA.

Damn. I may have to just tell my Sager buyer to bug off and then go to sell this rig in May. Or sooner if the GX740 streams in.

That chassis looks like a 1722/27 chassis with an ID2 overhaul.

Definitely will be curious to see it with a 920xm under load (gulp).

    It looks like this:

The chassis looks near identical to the 1727 outside of the new metallic lid and bezel/palmrests which is what MSI did with the 1722-ID2 which was used for the GX720 and GT725.

Okay, so i find a website for pre-order and it gives a option of take the Intel Advanced-N 6200 802.11 a/b/g/n instead of the 5300, what is the difference? Is the 6200 better?I don't really believe in number that the interprizes put...

We won't know till someone gets one in hand and puts it against the wall. If it does use a 1722/7 chassis (which by the pics it appears to use), would I cram a 920XM in there? No. A 720QM/820QM? Meh, MAYBE but even then I'd be a smidge hesitant without some mods.

i3/i5/i7 Dual Core? No problem IMHO.

But again, we need to see it put against the wall to see what will happen.

I'm basing these results on the power/heat levels of the 1727 with a 920XM and a much more heat friendly 250M.

In addition, people rarely play the game, "When Furmark met Prime95," so that is a consideration too (Albeit WoW had no problems spiking my 920XM to 55-65W).

Monday, I'll run some tests with a 720QM in there with and without the cooling modifications (I have two bottom covers. One modded, the other stock as it came from MSI) to get an idea of what the 45W 720QM does with a 28W 250M. Hopefully I'll be able to get the tests in before a currently interested buyer and I finish working out the haggling details (heh) on my ebay listing for him to pull the trigger and I can collect some numbers to compare/contrast.

But is the risk higher that i buy it and it be noise and very hot?Like i need to buy a loptop in 1month and a half no more than that so that would be the option, there is the sager 8690 with 5870 but $1500 and no bluray, no deal, and is 15"

^^ seeing as the laptop isn't out yet you can't really compare them. however, at a glance i'd say the msi is lighter by almost a pound. looks are different. not sure how it performs, but the differences will be slight.

yeah few months more ;d, anyway i asked a guy from xoticpc, about the graphic card. So as i thought he said that the HD5870 is probably about 40% higher performing than the 5730 that is in the N71jq. Also the GX740 is not yet out but .. you know it's the same on both i7\4gb's RAM(1060\1333)\7200RPM so the g card differs at all.

40% is quite a bit. if you're gaming or using CAD and some photoshop your gonna want the HD5870.

If it uses the classic 1722/7 chassis, it will run on the quiet side in the realm of gaming notebooks.

Only two notebooks I've encountered that run quieter than the 1722/7 are the Asus W90 and Alienware M15x.

Gah forget LED, i'm not paying for overpriced screens,

A good standard pannel is all its need, although i think it just needed more brightness on the first models, thats it.

You have a valid point, but your still gonna find the 5870 draining, is the mobo compatible with IGP switching?

I can just squeeze 3 hours out of my machine on the 9 cell, and thats with a q9000 and a 4850 in low power haha, low brightness too (But i actually can work with that).

Hehe, hope i didn't seem to snappy, there should be a fair amount of good releases coming man, the little brother is showing signs of GDDR5 5850's everywhere! and coupled with a nice processor (With IGP support perhaps).

You also have the ASUS G73, The MSI GT660 (Pretty nice but it'l be costly i'm sure), there are a fair amount of books that seem to be fitting in to the new generation quite nicely :D.

Aha, well you know man i pasted the medion machine, i have the advent, which is a fairly discreet model, and thats what MEDION will do also, but the medion version of the GX740 will be extremely nice,

If its out by the time your in USA, you can get it for amazing price (1099 USD/EU i forget) and you will have a very reliable machine infront of you!
Infact, maybe it'l even be out where you are, i'm not sure if Medion are heavy in the USA, they are mainly in Germany i think,

    But check it out!

And i currently use this rebrand,
    [IMG]

But advent are really poor in comparison to medion, especially when it comes to warrenty and repairs! :)

Done some translation, so please typing isn't my fault.

In the wake of the Akoya P6622 and the E1222 Medion Akoya is soon with the Akoya X7811 notebook. This notebook has been displayed by the manufacturer at the CeBIT trade show and its way into the gamingsegment. Under the bonnet of this machine is in fact an Intel Core i7 processor 720QM. For anyone who is not enough, there is the option for faster Core i7 820QM. In addition, the X7811 equipped with 4 GB of DDR3 RAM and GPU Medion has chosen for the ATI Radeon HD 5870, 1 GB of GDDR5 has at his disposal. This card will send a 17 inch LED display that works in a resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixels.

Medion appearance seems MSI's gamingnotebooks taken as an example, what emerges in the Red WASD keys of the QWERTY-octave. The enclosure is built from brushed aluminum, while the screen and the keyboard in matte black, which are less easily fingerprints should be left behind. The keyboard is also equipped with a numeric portion. The multi-touch muispad with the two push buttons is, as usual, just below the Clavier, somewhat to the left.

The new harbor an Akoya notebook DVD burner, DVB-t tuner, 3.0 megapixel webcam, and a card reader. Networking is an integrated Gigabit network controller, a wireless 802 .11n draft module and Bluetooth. The connections among other four USB2.0, a few audio inputs and outputs, eSATA, and d-sub and HDMI to send video signals. Medion has also the notebook features a Dolby Home Theater system consisting of a subwoofer and four speakers. The whole is powered by a 6-cell battery and is bundled with a 32-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium.

The Medion Akoya X7811 is expected around the beginning of April and allegedly solely through downloadable online shops. The implementation of Core i7 720QM will be an SRP of $ 999 with us, while the 820QM helping the price to $ 1299.

So, no BluRay, but a really interesting DVB-T reciever included, which is great!

BTW, 32 bit Windows 7 is lame.
