This make sense.

while i been thinking about getting a new laptop. Msi must make good products. I rarely see any problems posted and never see any for sale in the marketplace forums.

A lot of the people on here simply upgrade them to the next graphics card.

I also find the Control Bar interesting in the PIX posted by -=$tR|k3r=-.
There's 3 controls to the left of the Power-On button and 5 on the right instead of 4 and 4.. -

Some info about GTX670M here.
-
So to all GT780DX owners; not worth upgrading.
-

A year or more later the notebook is just not worth the high price of a top of the line mobile GPU.
That money should be put aside for the next new notebook purchase and put together with what you can from the sale of your present notebook.
At 2 years old a notebook is ready for replacement and a fair price can sill be gotten from the sale of what you have now.
Choose your upgrades wisely and stay away from the frills. -

Tell that to the GX660 users currently using HD6990Ms. Your advice is sound for most users, just not enthusiasts.

Yesterday i was this close on shelling out 2600 bucks for an upgraded gt783-625 but i just realized if these monsters are coming out in april then i can wait for them only if they come out before diablo 3.

I have pictures on facebook discovered by GT70. But it looks like there can be no block 2 HDD

I found some pictures of the GT60 on Facebook. It looks like there's no SATA and power connections for the secondary drive?
If the pictured notebook is a pre production prototype it may not have everything a production model will. -
Those pics seem to be consistent with the posts stating that dual mSATA ports are replacing a full-sized SATA III port.
-
again single fan system. It will be quite loud...
-
When is this coming out O;
-
IMO it looks like a dual-mSata modul. It is unmountable. This may be switchable with a normal 2,5'' "modul/connection". It's a smart option.
Would also make sense with the marketing stickers "RAID 0 Dual HDD..."
Look at 0:35 in the GT70-vid >> DUAL HDD 1,5 TB (optional) -
I can't believe they expect us to pay $2600 for a 15.6" GT60. I really hope that price is just a fully loaded build, and we can take some things away that we don't want (like a second SSD) to reduce the price. I really want to wait because currently no good 15.6" laptops with good GPUs have backlit keyboards.
But if that price is in the mid range of what we're going to be expected to pay, that's absolutely ridiculous. You could configure an M18x with dual 6990Ms for just $300ish more! The current line of 15.6" MSIs go for $1300-$1600. This price is way too high... -
Dual mSata or one normal Sata, I think. If you order it with SSD+HDD/HDD+HDD that will be two 2.5" drive but if you order it with 2SSD+HDD then it will be the mSata config.
-
$2600 is just the price converted from Euros.
Just wait for its release in the US.
I bet the GT70 will be priced similarly to the GT780DX. (Well hopefully)

Secondary? They will be bootable and you could have no 2.5" size drive in there at all.
Saves weight and perhaps power.
Also that port has an option module on a different PCB at the moment to put in a HDD so I don't see why you cant have one or the other. -
Plenty of pics of the 16F3:

This one has both HDD ports, and the Steelseries keyboard.

I did the same with my previous laptop. -

lol 3720QM is quite a beast, might be tempted by this new ivy bridge + 6xxM
-
On second thought... this is going to be one hell of an insanely expensive machine. D: Looks like this isn't worth waiting for for me.
-
they finally managed to get the caps and numlock indicators in huh?
-
Yeah i chose the older model over the gt70 because buying one that will give me a considerable boost comparable to the gt78x would probably require me to shell out 3000++ bucks. I think its a nono.
-
theres no clear evidence that they cost $3000 per unit IN THE UNITED STATES..they're not even stupid to ruin their reputation that way..
btw heck of a nice avatar..but it may p*ss off the admins like I did while back, hurry up and remove it -
Haha thanks.
Back to topic: i meant that the unit itself might be cheaper, but im saying that to get a higher performance to overshadow the gt78x series you would probably have to upgrade the components of the gt70. And without the gt680 its practically the same thing i believe. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Id like to remind people the high cost units may well contain the 670m, two msata ssds and a large mech hdd, there will likely be cheaper skus.
-
I think I'm most definitely going to get the GT60. I've been waiting for a 15.6" (15" length - if it's the same as the GT683 series) laptop that has a backlit keyboard, a non-gimped GPU, and Ivy Bridge is just gravy! Plus, I love the look of the GT78 series, and it looks like now the GT60 will have the same appearance. Can't wait until they come out!

MSI GT70 & GT60 Specifications released today!
Press release: MSI Global ? News -
Nothing we didn't already know a month ago, just the usual Msi propaganda such as "Nvidia’s all-new flagship GeForce GTX 670M" .. still is a sexy laptop if you ignore the last decade graphic card.
-
Give it time and they will put the 680M in there..eventually...
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Well I assume we might first.
-
Dont think i can afford them. Pretty sure that the final price will be around 3000 bucks.
