Wait for GS60 and its reviews then you can decide which model to get later.

    Hey!

I had the same version of BIOS and EC as androidman. When flashing BIOS I got a blue screen (and a heart attack). After a reboot, it would automatically go into BIOS. I've tried the optimal settings, but still the same thing. When I've changed from UEFI to Legacy it finally booted without a problem (and I have windows 8.1 mind you). I went on to update the firmware, reset the computer, cut it off completely from power. It started without a problem, so I've decided to take a risk and try flashing BIOS again. No blue screen this time, but it still booted into BIOS and I had to change it to Legacy.

Anything I can do at this point to make UEFI work? Should I wait for the next version of BIOS and flash it in the future? What are the disadvantages of running Legacy in my situation?

I'm too old for all that stress...

hey, i don't know if this comes down to my ignorance of windows 8, but i thought i saw somewhere that the audio ports on the side were map able. i have an old turtle beach surround sound headset with the individual channels (ie. center front rear sub) and i thought i read that the audio ports could be configured to match that but i cant seem to find the settings anywhere. thanks in advance!

Realtek Audio Manager allows you to make a choice when you plug in an audio device.
For example, if you plug in a microphone into speaker-out jack, the software will ask you what you have just plugged in, then you can inform it the type of device installed which results in a modified mapping temporarily.

Leave it as UEFI mode, check in the BIOS to see if the Windows Boot Manager is still there under boot menu.
For SATA mode, make sure it is set to RAID.

Hi guys! MSI GT60 2OC owner here..

I have an issue in that MSI Afterburner doesn't display the "driver version" of my gpu. I'm using 334.89 (downloaded and installed using GeForce Experience), and MSI Afterburner 2.3.1. I installed Afterburner after having already installed the 334.89 driver, so I wouldn't be able to tell if Afterburner would've displayed an earlier driver version (though I might rollback just to try and troubleshoot).

The weird thing is, during one gaming session yesterday, it detected and displayed the driver. I was gaming on an external monitor (hdmi to tv) and my fps which maxes at 60 shot up to around 140-160 fps. I've connected my laptop to the tv before (I do it often actually), but that has never happened before, and I haven't been able to replicate it ever since. Driver version doesn't display, whether on external monitor or not, except for that one time.

Anyone here using the 334.89 driver and having no issues with Afterburner? I'd appreciate any help and suggestions, thanks.

I'm on Win8, stock BIOS and EC firmware, if that matters.

You are using outdated version of Afterburner, the latest one is 3.0.0 Beta 18, see below link.
MSI Afterburner 3.0.0 Beta 18 Download

Update the BIOS and EC firmware as well as drivers will help in your overall experience with the system.

    Hi ;D

Just wondering if any one can help me out?

I've got a 3 month old GT60 2OC and exactly a week ago the keyboard stopped working (the rest of the computer seems totally fine).

I tried to update the keyboard driver but this didn't change anything. (It said it was up to date).

I ran various virus/malware/spyware etc programs just in case - but nothing was detected apart from some tracking cookies.

Eventually I done a system restore which didn't change any thing. I then done a system reset and the keyboard started working again but only after I use "Shut down" - if I use "Restart" then the keyboard doesn't work.

Also the touchpad doesn't work at all (I was mainly using a USB Logitech mouse before but I'd like to be able to use my touchpad when I'm not near a desk!). It doesn't appear in the Device Manager (under "Mice and other pointing devices"). (I'm not totally sure if the touchpad stopped working when the keyboard did as I was using my USB mouse).
I uninstalled the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver and reinstalled it from the Utility Disc that came with the laptop but this didn't do anything.

For the record, the keyboard LEDs work ok, as do the shortcut buttons to the left and right of the Power button.
Fn and F3 (turn touchpad on/off) doesn't do a thing.

I have no idea what is going on!
Any one got any advice or ideas?

    Thanks in advance
    Martin

P.S - is it normal to hear an occasional "click" type of noise come from your laptop?
I'm not sure if its meant to make that noise or if somethings wrong - the system seems to run fine anyway but I'm kinda curious what the hell it is!
I've got a 750gb 7200rpm HDD and 2 64gb SSDs and Nvidia GTX 770M inside if that helps

Does every i7 4700MQ have the Turbo Boost that puts it from 2.4GHz to 3.4GHz despite it sometimes not being listed on the specs page on some sites?

Default speed is 2.4GHz, it's rare to see it hitting 3.4GHz because you will have to run off a single core to get that max speed.
Most of applications nowadays can benefit with at least two cores so the speed you may see most of time is probably 3 to 3.2GHz.

    Hey Guys,

Been a while; Still like my GT60.

I was wondering what the exact changes are on the new EC and Bios.

What changed in the Fan Table? And what cards are the N15 series?

    Cheers

Fan table improvement and bug fixes.
MSI only lists what they want to show to the general public so no one knows the detailed changes.

I have the MSI GT60 and it looks like the buttons above the keyboard are not working, the Caps lock and Num Lock have light but I can't use the other things like Cooler Boost, the keyboard light (I need to open KLM to change it), G-panel

    I'm talking about this:

Hey Im having a problem. It seems every time I start my laptop up my wifi doesn't work. I usually troubleshoot the problems and after that it works but its annoying to do it every time I turn on my laptop. I've updated all the drivers and bios and firmware from the MSI website as well as download the latest drivers from the killer network qualcomm website but the problem is still occurring. Has this problem happened to anyone else? And if so has anyone found a solution or temporary solution to this problem?

There could be some processes that use the dGPU. I've seen it turned orange all by itself even at idle from several brand new out of box machines.

Hey guys, I recently acquired a GT70-2oc-065US. I am running the latest bios S50

I can get a Super Raid 2 card for it, but I want to make sure all I have to do is plug it in and it will work. Has anyone with this model done this themselves?

You'll have to set up the RAID in BIOS then install Windows and the usual drivers/utilities but thats about all.

It is plug and play. You have the choice to use each mSATA drive independently from AHCI mode, or you can active RAID mode to create RAID 0 using 3 mSATA drives.
For Win8, you can activate fast boot and secureboot mode, and install the OS via UEFI mode to obtain 3-sec boot experience to the OS.
For Win7, you can use CSM mode which will give you the same experience as Win8 fast boot.

If you have the GT60 you can put the 95% gamut screens. Not sure about putting the 3k in, I would think so but we haven't had any extras of those screens to try so can't know for sure.

Ryzeki wrote this a while back; Touching on that, first of all this sucks.
If I'd only bought it in Europe, this would've been deceptive marketing...

Second: How are displays mapped to the graphics cards? I don't think they're physically connected, are they? Which means it is a bios setting?

Third, does nVidia Surround work with just two displays (Still better than one I guess)?

On a totally unrelated note: Does the fan ever shut off?
You can set Windows to 'passive cooling' in the energy settings, but this doesn't seem to do anything; It'd be useful in class, since the GT60 is everything but quiet...

    Thanks

Hello, I have a problem, the notebook screen backlight stays on, when only the external display is being used.

To turn it off I need to do alt+f2 or (win+p) everytime i boot Win 7 :(

    I use HDMI-to-DVI adapter connected to a Dell U2312HM.

I've noticed about this myself. Have you updated the BIOS and EC firmware? If not, then try that first.
And then update the VGA drivers.
