Will the GT76 actually be using BGA instead of MXM? Surely that must be wrong. I also secretly hope that they would make the mechanical keyboard optional. The membrane keyboard used on the WT75 is great.

Geez, that would be awesome, I kinda expected this over a year ago, but hopefully this time it really happens!

That would bode well for a PGA version with AMD CPU to follow, since MSI is making way for desktop CPU's into top end laptops!

Maybe even a cross-fire Navi set up in a GT8x case to replace the no-SLI 20xx series laptop GPU's.

    One can dream. :)

It’s a perfect laptop, in gaming it’s better and cooler than the Alienware area-51M. But keep in mind till now you can’t use 2x intel SSDs in raid settings. You can create raid in bios but windows will see it as 2 separate drives ( no fix till now ).

That's weird. In slot 4 and 5 I have two 1tb 760p that I setup as RAID in the bios and windows sees it as a single drive.

I have 2x 2TB 760p but through windows installation ( when I choose the drive to install windows on ) can see it only 2 separate drives and MSI confirmed that it can’t be raid. Can you plz share some pictures of it? Thank you

I don't currently have my Windows install on them, but I did boot up an installation media and confirmed it shows up available as an option and I could select it.

Here's how they currently show in Windows. I'm considering moving my OS to the intel drives and putting one of my 1tb Samsungs in the current boot drive slot.

So after playing around with both the AUO 4k and 120hz Chi Mei for a month, I decided to stick with the 120hz. The 2080 can drive the 4k just fine, but the scaling issues in a lot of games gets on my nerves. Nvidia stating that they won't support integer scaling sealed the deal. The loss of G-Sync with the 120hz panel isn't great, but it looks so much better than the AUO 144Hz that this was shipped with that I can live with it.

Anyone felling something wrong with the model ?
First, there is a lack of reviews
Second the stocks seems to be running out cause im seeing less and less models available.

I found a deal with the 8750h, rtx 2070 , 32gb ram , 512ssd for 2700€, but now im afraid to get it.
Should it be related to the rumor about the GT76 ?

    Any toughts?

There is nothing wrong with the model itself. The market and media prefer slimmer/thinner machines and no longer pay much attention to the big hulking models. Media will cover the laptop, but won't say much at all, and only some sites.

Plus, there are 9th gen CPUs coming out, and I am not even sure if they will refresh the GT75 series or not. Maybe they will refresh it to release it with the 8 core CPUs, who knows.

My thought is that the market shifted to GE and GS series, so GT will remain a niche ultra high performance product.

I don't think there is anything wrong with it, it's just not timed well.

There's not a lot of hype for the 20 series in mobile, the GTX1080 is still a beast at 1080p, and the RTX 2080 can't do 60fps/4k. So if you already have a notebook with a 8950HK and GTX 1080, it's not worth dumping $4k on an upgrade.

Stocks were also low I think because of move to the 9th Gen CPUs. I saw that the 9980HK model is now available.

If you need a new notebook now, and are looking for a thicker chassis rather then the thinner ones that are more popular right now, it's a great machine.

Gents i need an helping hand of yours.
Can one of you let me know which 1920x1080 144Hz display MSI use in the new GT75 8SG?
I had one here for an hands on review from msi but i forget to check what display it is.
    is it the AUO B173HAN03.0?
I liked that display and want to try if it will run with my gt75vr instead of the 4k display.

    A few reasons
    1. As other mentioned, everyone seems to be crazy about the thing models, which I shake my head when I look at. They will just overheat and throttle.
    2. It was pretty niche model to begin with.
    3. Since it is the most high end model you would expect it to come with 8 core and hopefully SLI 2080 RTX cards. This would be a computer I would be interested in for post production. Our GT75 is great, but well more GPUs means more power.

    Best,
    Andreas

I had an GE75 here for test reason from MSI and there was no throttling at all during gaming on Ultra Settings of Different games. so in that case i don't share your point of view for the 8th gen devices.
What will about with 9th gen devices i don't know but we will see.
And everyone who buy an notebook from any company (asus, acer, msi, clevo etc.) should know what can happen. for me it was clear over the last years (10 or so) that it is needed to remove the paste and renew it with something like mx-4, grizzly, ic diamond and so on.

SLI/NVLink is an technology which is an dead technology. when was the last update for SLI games list from Nvidia?
I don't remember it for the last 2 years. optimization from the Game developer is nearby 0 no it is 0 if you get an optimization for an game you have a lot of issues to get it stable for playing games. i had only one game which was a dream to play with two gtx 1070 from Aorus and that was ashes of the singularity. The only game i play so far which has even no issues with DX12 in use.
    i read this Benchmark from gamernexus.net: https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/3366-nvlink-benchmark-rtx-2080-ti-pcie-bandwidth-x16-vs-x8
Only Sniper Elite 4 and Ashes of the Singularity uses the full power of SLI/NVlink and in one or two points (maybe more) an SLI of 1080Ti was better then NVLink with RTX 2080 or 2080 Ti. was a while ago i read this benchmark.

Instead of things like SLI/NVlink or a 4th and 5th M.2 Port which is reserved for Intel SSDs only (was confirmed by MSI Germany) they had to use the free space for an third Fan solution which could grant a better cooling and maybe less noise and a better oc for guys like us. That would be an absolutly niche device i would by with joy.
The only thing which is sure atm for me is that i go back to desktop this year after nearby 5 years i'm done with niche devices and if i want a notebook i will buy one of this thin beauties and will enjoy it when i try to optimize it with all the things i learned here.

Nvidia released an official SLI profile for Anthem with geforce driver 430.39. It works great. SLI isn't dead, you just have to really push nvidia/devs to keep supporting it.

How Mans weeks After release? At the beginning it was deactivated and somewhere i read about an lock of sli which was removed end of march. So that is somerhing what i call issue with sli. If it should work out of the box devs or nvidia don‘t need to do things like that.

But wrong Thread to discuss things like that. Sorry for Thread jacking

So did this thread just stop? Any updates on the inverse ghosting? Is is a driver issue or a panel issue?

Nvidia claims panel settings, not driver. It’s being caused by aggressive overdrive settings trying to combat normal ghosting and then overshooting the intended color value.

On a decent external monitor you’d have the ability to adjust the overdrive settings to balance out the ghosting and overshoot, but we’re stuck with the manufacturers settings here.

Honestly it’s not terrible in most games if you leave Gsync off. I’d notice in game with lots of color the most, as it would stick out. With Gsync on, it depended how low the frame rate was. Below 100hz it was clear it was happening.

What's the point of having Gsync if you leave it off? Not to mention most games won't be running above 100fps anyways so you will notice that inverse ghosting 90% of the time. Can't believe MSI allowed this to happen. I thought their quality control was getting better. They had an amazing panel with their 120hz GT73's/GT75's.

Fire up a game and post a video. See if you have any inverse ghosting.

Which panel do you have? Is it the AUO 144hz? I was told this was the only 144hz being used on the 2019 GT75 unlike the GE75 with can come with the AUO(overshoot) or the chimei(no overshoot).

To replicate, here’s where I could see it right away to test. Turn on the Gsync indicator overlay to make sure it’s actually on since Gsync has been wonky with the latest drivers to enable.

Load up a game with lots of background scenery that you can limit to 60fps.
Move the camera around and look at the objects in the background, if you have it you’ll notice a shadow trailing those objects that’s the inverse color of the object.

Games I used to quickly test the replacement panels I received:

Assassins creed odyssey - fast travel to Athens, at daytime look at the ornaments at the top of the temple in front of you and move the camera, there is a black shadow trailing them. At night look at all the fires in the distance. Shadows trail all of them.

The Division 2 - go near the Washington monument, watch it’s edge when you move the camera, should see a shadow.

Sekiro - Any rocks in the scenery should show the trailing shadow.

All you need now is the KB cover to prevent all the crap from mucking up the switches.
I put one on after having to air blast potato chips, cookie crumbs and other assorted snacks out from under my keys.

LGA CPU not so useful though. End of the line for 1151 probably. And it should be LGA+BGA GPU
