I don't know if it is related, but Windows Update servers weren't accessible yesterday, but they are this morning. Windows Update failed with a connect error, now it is working.

Supposedly a bunch of new Windows 10 updates went out in the last 72 hours, so maybe one of those broke the Store...

Check your update history, and look for updates issued this week, and try uninstalling them to see if that fixes the Store.

You also need to be logged in to a Microsoft Account linked to your Windows 10 login.

If you are logged in via a local only account, you need to switch over to the MS Outlook based account in order to access the Store. Once you install the apps, you can switch back over to a local account. But, when you want to check for store app updates or install another store app you need to temporarily switch over to the Outlook MS account again.

I don't really like Metro Store apps, as they are using Tiled screen UI - I can't have a floating window with the Metro Store app in it over my normal desktop. It's very annoying, so I uninstalled all the Metro Apps in Windows 8.1, and would do the same in Windows 10.

I wouldn't waste your time trying to hunt down the solution to the Store problem, it's not going to get you anything useful IMHO, and it opens up your system to more MS spying mayhem logged in to an Outlook account.

There were similar store app issues during Windows 8/8.1 and I learned to ignore them and not waste time on them as usually a Windows Update would resolve the bug eventually.

But, if you do find a specific GT80S related issue with the Store and resolve it please do post the info here :)

If you want to use the store apps thats fine, but I wanted to make sure you knew you don't have to ever use the store for anything.

I use the calculator just fine, and I always uninstall all apps I can and use my normal programs. Many of them portable versions that do not even need to be installed.

Photos I use the old windows photo viewer and my own media players.

I'm not big on the store and "apps" but maybe I'm just old fashioned. I also love my local account not tied to anything

You were right, I received 2.5" versions, despite the picture, descriptions and part numbers all saying the M.2 version. My return request has been initiated.

What is stupid is I noticed the page changed after I bought them, so the page saying I ordered them and my receipt didn't match anymore. I brought this up and asked that they clarify which ones I was sent and their response was to make certain I pick the part number I wanted (which I did) and that their entire system is automated with no way to verify.

Well I hate to break it to them, their system is broken. They are wasting folks time sending them stuff they didn't order. I had one other return recently, so I hope Amazon doesn't deny my request here since I was sent the wrong items.

If they can send me the correct ones great, if not I will live with what I have already. (2x 512M.2 PCIe, 1x 512 M.2 SATA, and 1x 2.5" 2TB SATA).

Not sure if this has been posted yet; the notebookcheck review of the GT80S 980 SLI was posted, but not this collection of benchmark results for GTX 980 SLI Notebook(s):

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 SLI (Notebook)
    http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GTX-980-SLI-Notebook.157920.0.html

It is populated with GT80S SLI 980 results, but it was referenced in this article announcing the Osiris 17x 980 SLI laptop:

Hello guys, anybody have problem with wi-fi disconnect? Every 15-30 minutes wi-fi drop connection and internet doesn't work. At other devices wi-fi work correctly, maybe this a problem with killer network manager?

I had that exact same issue and was resolved with a recent killer network update. I had actually tried a couple versions earlier but only the latest one resolved it for me. I have not had a single network drop since so I am confident that's what it was in my case.

I am using version 1.1.57.1677 which fixed my issue so I did not update it again when the latest one came out shortly after (1.1.57.1679).

What does the numpad do exactly in game? I thinkI just used the same WASD keys like the rest of the game.

I just use WASD and mouse. I had to log back in once to be sure. I would never ever even thought of even trying the numpad it's clear on the wrong side of the keyboard!

Does the numpad work in your other games or is it broken in all games? I honestly don't have a single game I use the numpad for so I'm not of much help I'm afraid.

I test it now in other games and have the same problem. In games option I can use numpad but in game it's not work and this is really bad for gaming notebook. Problem in sensor button, I can hold it that's why it doesn't work correctly in game.

I don't play GTA V, but in most games you can remap keys to another key, so I would use that method first - if you are stuck on the builtin laptop keyboard.

I haven't used my laptop's built in keyboard for many years, I got tired of wearing out the keyboard, or spilling drinks into the keyboard and needing to replace it at $100 a pop, so I moved to an external keyboard / mouse.

If you use an external keyboard / mouse you can use a nice gaming keyboard, and not worry about wearing out the built in keyboard - I would imagine the GT80's keyboard would be expensive to replace.

I have used it a few times, when I am mobile, but I also carry a Logitech K400 wireless keyboad/touchpad that fits in the bag, and is much easier to use / reach than where my laptop's sometimes need to sit in a machine room - I use it for work laptops too :)

Laptop keyboards always have some critical failing, in this case the funky touchpad / numpad arrangement.

It's all part of the charm of the very special GT80(S) series

A Rivet representative posted in a long debugging session for the Killer 1535 we were working on the day they uploaded the new Killer Suite package that fixed the Windows 10 Wifi disconnects.

The new driver solved that problem, here's a post with the info + download / version:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/thr...eshooting-thread.787182/page-13#post-10186889

And, in the same thread I posted a note on configuring the Network Manager Upload/Download speed to stop the other annoyance, the QOS induced lag.

If you don't have the right Upload/Download numbers for your link configured the defaults of 1500/1500 may induce errors in QOS calculations.

Also, posted how to use the Killer Wifi Manager option of the Network Manager to see the Wifi Landscape to make sure you are on a clear center channel.

I can remap to another keys but problem is that all another keys are already map for other functions. I think it's not good idea to purchase another keyboard for playing game at gaming notebook, as I think, gaming notebook made for play games, but I can't play normal without numlock button. It's really sad.

It's not something that's going to get fixed / changed anytime soon, the GT80S has that "special" trackpad/numpad arrangement, and if it doesn't function exactly like a real key-based numpad - that's because it isn't a real key-based numpad - so any key-based functions like holding down a key aren't going to work.

How would you like MSI to make it work?

Use a work around, that's what I did with every laptop keyboard I have ever used that has a function missing or broken, until I started using real keyboards - wired or wireless.

Do you already use an external mouse? You don't actually game on the trackpad - not if you are trying to use the numpad mode - so add a nice mechanical keyboard.

The new Logitech 910/810 are being bundled with Tom Clancy's Division game:
    http://gaming.logitech.com/

You can complain all you like, it's still going to remain broken

During the game, the laptop is in my knee and it would be very inconvenient to use another keyboard. That's really sucks purchase gaming notebook for 4150$ and can't play game without additional gamers stuff :)

    You can remap the key.

There is no way you can game with a GT80 on your lap... I am 6'4" and it's too big for my lap, the keyboard is flush against me and there is no room for my hands to reach the keys...you are going to cook your kneecaps

Set down the GT80S on the coffee table, end table, chair, and use a very nice cool gaming keyboard on your lap instead

Nice, legs out gives you more room for the laptop - not what I would call comfortable - too much weight on the knee joint's for me - and an uncomfortable position to be in for extended periods.

So I guess you are back to remapping the key :p

I just noticed that there is an older BIOS, EC and VBIOS on the MSI download pages. I would be willing to be a guinea pig to test these out for differences (especially in power limits) but I would have no way to get back to what I have now. The later ones I am on now are not even listed there, which seems odd to me.

Ask MSI via a support form request, they can supply you with a zip file with the tools to reload older firmware's and supply you with the ones you currently have and want but don't see - ask for whatever they have currently in test - ready to release but not released.

seeing some members in this thread previously uses 1st gen GT80 before moving to the 2nd gen GT80S, i have questions:

    1. does the ess sabre hifi card make noticeable difference in real life gaming/music/movies experience?
    2. any of u hoping that the 3rd gen of GT80 will not only bring 2 desktop class GPU, but also a desktop CPU ala Clevo P870DM?

    1. I can’t give a comparison but it did seem to sound ok for the short time I used it. Unfortunately I use a 5.1 surround sound audio USB when at home. My headset is wireless so I will likely never use that special output anymore. I think it is just stereo? Making it worthless for me when connected to a surround sound system.

    2. I hope they don’t make it desktop CPU only, that’s fine if they add an option though. A desktop CPU would use even more power than mobile, and the system is already power starved and currently unable to even use the full output of a single 330w adapter.

Personally I have never ran into a CPU limited game, I am always GPU limited so I would always take more GPU over CPU.

While I agree with the more GPU sentiment, my use will be multipurpose, so I would like to have an upgradeable CPU. It is beyond my comprehension why they would use the same power supply for this version in any case. In other words BUMP UP THE POWER MSI!!!

    Sorry for the shout ;)

If the motherboard is not engineered to handle higher power input than is currently provided, it is not engineered for the components it uses, so a redesign is warranted...while they are at it, they should include better cooling for the M.2 PCIE SSDs. I would be willing to pay extra $$$ for a better design. MSI could invest some development money and come up with a 30th anniversary design that would benefit their reputation.

P.S. I do not care about battery life. If there is enough to move me from one room to another, that is sufficient...I would even be okay with using the battery compartment for other purposes since I will always be plugging in to a power outlet. :)

yeah I would prefer and upgradeable CPU as well in case of failure.

I have my gt80s connected to 660 watts of power! unfortunately it only uses about 300.

i also want dekstop CPU not because lack of power, but because i want more options.
i also want upgradeable desktop cpu not because the current mobile cpu lack of power, but because i want more option.
besides, upgrading the cpu is easier than upgrading the gpu. you can easily find desktop cpu for sell in computer store, but only certain store sells MXM card.
I also rarely see people buy a laptop with lower GPU and upgrade it to higher GPU years later. Usually people just sell the old one and buy new laptop with new generation GPU.

What are you talking about? Please post a screen shot of the Wifi adapter "Status", like this:
    wifi status.JPG
and an image of where you saw "Stand-alone mode".

Did you need to reconnect? Was it after a reboot? Did you try the internet and see if it was working before trying a reconnect/reboot?

It might be the power saving mode kicking in, was the laptop idle for a long time? Go into your Power Plan advanced settings, and set the network/wifi to Maximum Performance on AC - Battery too if that is what you were on when you saw this.

Also go into the Device Manager, find the Wifi adapter, right click - Properties and find the Power tab and turn off power saving.

I mean "autonome mode" at killer network manager(not in wi-fi adapter). Can't do the screenshot right now, I will make it later.

    What's "autonome"? :)

Is that a typo, or did you FrenchEnglish "autonomous" ? Check the Update below...

Which section of the Network Manager tool was it? Were you still connected via the Wifi adapter to the Internet, or on Ethernet, or?

Trying to understand what you are talking about :)

Update: My router doesn't say this, but your router (Cisco?) might specify info related to the type of controller/non-controller mode it's in, and Killer Network Manager is passing that info through to you. As long as you can connect through to the internet through the Wifi connection, don't worry about it.

Wi-fi adapter only. I have the russian language at killer network so screenshot doesn't help understand what I mean. Autonom - is a passive mode of killer manager, as easy it's off and I can't set priority to application.

Still not understanding where/what you are looking at, I don't have any indicator like passive/active mode.

At the edge of understanding, are you saying that the packet filter isn't running, so you can't set priorities?

Do you have the Killer Service set to automatic and it's running?

In what panel of the Killer Manager do you see the Autonome display?

Here are all the panels I see with Wifi enabled:

Ran out of image limit, continuing.

Do you have the Filter Driver installed? Run your Killer Suite installer again and check what you have installed, it should look like this:

Reinstall it twice and now it's working fine.

That's odd, but glad that it's resolved.
I think the proper procedure is to remove it first, then perform a restart.
Reinstall the package, and reboot again.

Is anyone else having issues with their WiFi? I've had this device for a day and I'm getting random disconnects should I reinstall my drivers?

Hi guys I just got My MSI GT80S TITAN SLI-012 with 6th Gen Intel Skylake Core i7 Processor, Some specs : 18.4" Full HD (1920 x 1080) Wide View Matte Display, 16GB (8GB x 2) DDR4 2133MHz Memory, Super RAID 4 256GB SSD (PCIE Gen3x 4) [128GB x 2] + 1TB 7200RPM Hard Drive, Blu-ray Burner, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M SLI 12GB GDDR5 Graphics Card, Microsoft Windows 10 Multi-language, Mechanical Cherry MX Brown Switch, Red backlight Steel Series Keyboard, but I bet you guys know all that LOL.

I have lots of questions and need help setting up. Any help will be appreciated because I am finally making the move from console (Playstation 4 ) to PC gaming and decided to go all out. I researched hundreds of laptops and this is the best for the money. I did well because I do know a bit about notebooks just not much about "PC GAMING" and after seeing the specs on this and watching lots of you-tube I saw this thing is a real beast!

So I'm ready to learn so no **** talking ok...

No **** Man, Congrats on the new MSI GT80S TITAN SLI-012!! :D

You can get most of what you need by reading through the posts 652 posts here, and in the original GT80 thread, and the GT80 Benchmarks thread.

This thread is for the 980 SLI only model, but the models share a lot of hardware so reading up here will help too. For posting you would get more response in the general GT80 thread:
