Yes I am a US buyer. All the places here are out of or back ordered big time in the GT80 Titan - 009.

Another interesting aspect is the power savings. According to Microsoft[1] DirectX 12 will enable more performance and reduced power consumption.
If I got it right it will allow the CPU to run cooler and that will make it possible for the GPU to get hotter -- up to the specified TDP of the whole system.

The model 001, sold in xoticpc comes with the backpack?
-
Hi guys,
1. The screen cover is matte or glossy? If matte, is light or heavy?
2. The keyboard backlight are customizabile? With rgb colors? -
The keyboard color is a matched stealseries cherry red as the only color.
Hopefully this gives you what you need.Flaick likes this. -

It's not a super high grain matte either.

Can anyone tell me the very best reasons why you are okay with a soldered chip verse a socket chip?
Basically the 4980HQ vs 4910MQ.
The guys in the Sager section say the HQ is trash and cannot hold a turbo. This is the only thing hanging me up on the Titan. And the fact that I could get Prema to do mods on the Sager.
I just think I like the quality of the Titan better.
Please help me solve this PC Processor selection problem.
Its driving me crazy. -
Also ...
If I use this laptop for college in taking notes and typing papers. Can I use the keyboard without the palm rest? Does it sit well on the table like a normal keyboard? Like if I was going to type for hours? Does it sit low enough like a keyboard or is it slightly to high? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Any new design is going to be BGA at this point, the HQ has less TDP modification in it by the looks of things but for games 57W should be fine.
Be aware this machine is large and uses a mechnical keyboard so is really not suited to taking notes in a class. -
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Again a mechanical keyboard in a library is probably a bad idea, this is not a machine to be taking around campus.
The GT72 would better suit that situation. -
I am just wondering if the machine was left at home. Is it comfortable to type on at long period of times or is it uncomfortable without the palm rest? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
If you were at home you would use the palm rest though, it's not really designed for comfortable typing on your lap for instance.

Not a mistake I ever made but it was pretty strict at my uni, especially in the engineering library. A regular keyboard was about the limit of noise you could get away with.
-
-bigger L3 cache[1] (8MB)
-higher base clock frequency[1] (2.9GHz)
-$55 cheaper[1]
4980HQ Pros:
-higher Max Turbo frequency[1] (4.0GHz)
-4% higher on 8-threads "CPU Mark"[2] (10147/9746)
-1% higher on single thread "CPU Mark"[2] (2261/2230)
-115% higher on 3DMark 11 GPU[3] (1957/910.5)
-71% higher FPS on Unigine Heaven 2.1[3] (26.1/15.3)
NOTES:
-Same TDP 47W[1]
-Benchmark values as of 2015-03-03
-Graphic benchmark values are of the IGPs
The 4910MQ looks faster but it's slower or not faster in all benchmarks[2,3].
Note that for the benchmarks[3] marked (*) lower is better.
To me the only advantage of having a socketed CPU is the possibility to upgrade it.
Since you don't have that in the GT80 I would certainly go for the fastest one.

I know this may be an odd question. But because i got the single GPU variant. Where can i find another 980m to go into this monster? im wishing i would have spent the extra and got the SLI :-(
-
It will save you money and trouble in the long run, trust me.Last edited: Mar 3, 2015 -
i have had the laptop for a little over a week now. and it was a hassle getting the device to begin with lol. i think i will just wait and see what happens. Coming from a 780m the single 980m is a monster. Just wanting a little more headway for the future.
thanks for prompt reply ! -

Or maybe eBay. -
Did some additional testing today since there has been quite a bit of talk on the CPU side. Below are results of firestrike running at 4.3ghz stable and NO GPU overclocking. 14000 was very obtainable with very little changes. Just normal running on highpower profile inside of the MSI Dragon Gaming Center and XTU tweeks.
XTU 4.3ghz on all core settings with -20.5 cpu offset
Physics 11473

Did you try to assign the PhysX processor to the CPU?
Can you take a picture of the XTU Monitor graph including thermal throttling and power limit throttling for the Fire Strike tests? -

GTVEVO have you tried reducing processor cache ratio to 30, and use something like -35mv processor cache voltage, and -50 dynamic CPU voltage?
So far my machine has a max point of about -65mv CPU, -45mv processor cache, and I use my processor cache ratio to 27. I tend to use slightly less aggressive values to ensure stability at 100% but so far it works. -
As for 4980HQ vs 4910MQ. On stock, there is no difference whatsoever. In fact there is no point of socketed vs soldered here, because the best you can do is tweak the CPU and thats it, no higher end version that can give you a meaningful performance increase.
If you are an absolute enthusiast, you might prefer MQ for higher tweaking, but if TDP is locked, then there is nothing you can do anyways.
All in all, CPUs will be competitive with each other among options. You should look into the whole package to see what better suits your needs. -
I think the only reason now I am leaning towards the Sager now is the keyboard and Prema mods.
I want to be able to type on the laptop for long periods of time without the palm rest.
And I do like the fact that I can replace literally everything including the battery on the sager.
I mean the MSI is very sweet and I like the build and sound but I just think there is more options with the Sager as far as dual power adapters, replacing the screen with 120HZ, and upgrading CPU if I want too. -

Well, it's good to see you have finally made a decision. Several of your post here have indicated you are leaning in this direction. Sager/Clevo, though not always the most modern of designs, has always been an attractive platform for enthusiast desiring custom builds, with many options. Perhaps this discussion can now move back to the GT80.
Enjoy your new Sager/Clevo!

For example. If on stock my CPU turbos to 3.6ghz, and after the turbo ends and regulates to 47W, my speed drops to 3.2ghz, that is the max I can get on my CPU continously. But after undervolting and reducing cache speed etc, I still regulate to 47W but my clockspeed only drops from 3.6ghz to 3.5ghz. -
Hello again everyone, so good news is i got my laptop in this Monday. I bought the 001 edition because the main fact of not needing 24gb of ram and the cpu diffrents isnt that much/ the top version could have signs of bottle necking. Plus knowing that i can upgrade later on.
So review so far, everything is still same settings as from when it came out of the box except for putting settings into sports mode:
-Only played one game others are downloading, I played Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) and can put that on ultra settings and runs at full 60 fps (game caps to 60)
-This is my first gaming laptop so my impression is damn this laptop is huge. Im 6ft tall person and it takes up my lap for sure. (my girlfriend keeps asking me if im compensating for something)
-Loving the mechanical keyboard but at school a teacher already told me to quite it down or turn it off because the clicking is some what loud, but i found there is a rubber o-rings from wasd keyboards that will dampen the sound, would mind trying them.
-Some people may not use it but for the internal graphics card i use it for netflix and daily usage, load up times for windows is not that long so it really dosnt bother me right now.
-During gaming one gpu hit 82C and the other 53C, more likely because the game isnt SLI friendly, CPU was around 83C until i hit the terbo witch then dropped it to its 60's in less than 5 seconds.
- Fans have a mind of there own, but in a good way, so far.
-Windows key is on the right side, on my corsair mechanical keyboard is like all the others on the left.
- I use a mouse more often than not so leaving the numpad on feels more natural feeling, but using the touch pad is friendly using but hard to do the left and right clicking (been a 2 hander on that).
- Its huge, this thing is a beast in size but hey it dosnt bother me, i actually like it.
-Coming over from low end laptops this laptop is on the heavy side also but that's because its packing witch makes me smile
- Love the mechanical keyboard and how it lights up red (only color for mechanical keyboard)
- Laptop comes with alot of accessories, i used the backpack for school and was squeezing stuff into it if they really looked into an enlarging capability you would be able to use its full potential. The mouse pad im using, key dragon is connected to the backpack, and gold keys are blinging on the keyboard, i dont use the arm rest and it actually feels okay not to use (each person has a diffrent type of style of typing remember that as well), and all the extra stuff i just left inside the box and stored it away.
- Only problem so far is that the power supply is a brick and has a short connection distance, if you go out to have fun with friends bring an extension cable.
Overall rating is a 8/10. Score is some what low because i haven't truly seen the full potential of this device in gaming yet but on SWTOR during light playing the fans were sounding like a car reeving its engine so it makes me question its full potential, and that the power supply connection is a short distance.
Review updates are to come at later date. -
-
Yeah the extras are nice, but once I got mine set up, I placed the rest carefully back on the box heh
But hey at least we already have a very powerful cpu to begin with.

Heavy load tweaking may involve setting the max multiplier to 36-38 and undervolting as much as possible.
-
Under normal settings with vsync I don't see any power throttling while playing games. Logged 20+ min of dying light maxed and didn't see nothing just locked at 3.8ghz. I am curious with others like Far Cry 4 so I am continuing with others to see what the impacts are.

As for testing below is the best overclock test I can obtain on stock vbios and drivers, its respectable but for those that wish to unlock the vbios I would assume 16000+ score could be achieved if needed. I was just curious of the possibilities that the GT80 was shipped with.
