Nice. Especially the memory. I actually was amazed at my OC. Well, part of it. I am at Afterburner +160 on the core which gives me up to 2100 mhz boost. But I was only able to get +675 on the memory regardless of core speeds so it I settled it in at 1735\1920 (7680). Passes every test I give it, though I dont usually run it at that.

thats a very good oc on the core... 2100 is on the gpu lottery side for sure. I can get 8100hrz on the memory and still dont see artifacts. I haven't really tested the wall on the memory yet so I got lucky with good memory but settled for 8000hrz (plus 1000). I wonder if there is a way to unlock power target setting on these laptop GPUs? This card would benefit greatly from additional power. desktop cards can be adjusted to 120%-130% on power limit settings. From time to time I do see the card is held back by power limit according to afterburner.

So Im curious about tweak success for everyone so I figured I would get some posts in on what I have done so far with mine (9900K-RTX 2080-32 gigs ram).
Coffee Lake CPU's benefit from faster ram through put so I started there. Don't worry Im not going to put you all to sleep with worthless details.
The ram is from Avant Tech. Its also sold as Mushkin. Factory settings are 2666 mhz. with 19-19-19 timings. No thought was put into the ram it seems though it is a bit faster than the Area 51M standard @ 2400mhz 19-19-19. So after some hours of testing I was able to get the timings down to 16-16-16 and ramp up the clock a bit to 2800 mhz. It made a bit of difference in most games tested and especially in productivity programs. It is Prime stable (Blend for ram tests) and Intel XTU memory stress for 3 hours each.

So with no new announcements and no new GPUs ( probably till much later this year for mobile), I’m going to keep my GT76 Titan with the 9700K/2070 and open the box tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing your results.

I am absolutely enjoying mine knowing it handles anything I’ve thrown at it with relative ease. The only real issue I’ve come across is finding a suitable bag/carrying case that is well made and doesn’t look like a military bag or is geared towards the extreme backpacker.

Maybe the antivirus took for a Trojan program module that identifies the laptop by HW DMI.

So some reviews show the fans underneath the chassis mesh panel as black in color and others show the usual gray color fans MSI has always used in the past. What color are the fans on everyone’s units here?

Hey guys. I got this brand new laptop 3 months ago. And when i came home from work today, the PC doesn`t turn on. There`s no signs of life at all. I`ve tried removing the battery and holding in the Power button, but no good. Has anyone here had a similar experience, or a solution?

What is the fastest RAM you can buy that will run in this machine at its listed speeds? Is 2666MHz it?

I've definitely been enjoying my GT76. It's built greatly and is just nice to use every day.

My only issue is that I haven't been playing any demanding games that really justify the specs. The best I've done are The Sure 2 and The Outer Worlds.

Cyberpunk 2077 will be the first major release that puts it to the test for me. I've taking a vacation day for that one.

So here is my first fire strike run overclocked, plenty of headroom on this beast. 9700K at 5.1ghz and 2070 at +185/+1000. Was able to break 22K easily on the GPU score

Well hell brother. You beat my FS score by almost 350 points, though I haven't gone past 5 Ghz yet. Im still playing with ram and heat management. But nice work. I bet that will take some voltage.

What panel does everyone have in their system? Mine has the CMN1760, never heard of it but it seems to be similar to the CMN175C, not sure what this newer 1760 panel changed

And BTW, my GT76 has black fans. You asked earlier and I forgot to respond.

They build panels for MSI (duh), Acer, Asus, and so on.

Alright guys... Going to try to aim for 25k total score on fire strike today. Not sure if its doable since the card is power limited to 200w but we shall see... I think the card can do + 1200 memory (got good Samsung memory apparently )

I notice when you overclock the card with EVGA X1 software the Core voltage slider is available. Do you guys know if this even does anything ??? If i am already hitting the 200w power limit? The cooling of this laptop can handle well over 200w graphic card for sure

I am thinking this machine would do wonders with some @Prema Magic. I had a p870km1 bought from HIDevo and had prema bios on it. limitation was heat at least in my case(did wonders on benching but 24/7 needed to be dialed down due to heat). The cooling on this laptop is superior to the p870 in Both GPU and CPU- Max fans GPU only goes up to 68c (65f ambient temp) under full load (overclocked and hitting the 200w power limit) CPU can get a little warmer but there is room for tweaking. This temperature was not achievable on clevo cooling on the p870 from my experience.

Should be possible, I hit 25K overall score back when I had my Area 51m with the 200w vbios....then it died one week later

The dell 2080 seems to be faster than the msi 2080 for some reason. Maybe optimus? (that means nothing when dells 2080s are burning out) but just an observation.

the max graphic score I manage to get is 28500- thats around 900 points less than yours!

It’s strange because the 2070 in my GT76 is much better than the 2070 I tested in the 51m, with higher core/memory overclocks and higher TDP peaks, so not sure why it’s opposite for the 2080 in the Titan.

Its a small difference but if you see reviews comparing both, the dells usually score a bit higher on mostly all benchmark scores. It seems to be under 5% difference with the same clocks

Often the high numbers in benchmarks that are short enough to not saturate the cooling mass, aren't proven out over long gaming sessions as the GPU (CPU too) heat up and the mass of the thinner laptop cooling hardware saturates with heat - the fans can't expel it quick enough - and performance begins to drop over time.

Also 5% and less can be due to run to run variance - also driver and OS level differences (over time they change), and other app / services installs, etc. affect the results between runs and between make / models.

I wouldn't worry about such a small difference. If you can game for your normal session length and sustain the FPS you want, then it's working just fine. :)

I knew this before buying the gt76 and still went for the MSI. The 51m consistently beats the gt76 by small margin but is usually on top. It could be optimus. Not that i care about the 3-5% but just wondering what is causing this when specs are the same

Yes it's probably Optimus, which you can rule out using an external display.

There's not much you can do except to make sure to undervolt the CPU to allow enough headroom for the iGPU to heat up the CPU while passing dGPU video so you can still get some good CPU performance.

Remember to watch for Windows Update trying to push that Intel microcode patch to disable undervolting (voltage adjustments in general), so you can preserve undervolt, because with Optimus you really need it.

Usually the DisplayPort is the dGPU based external output. The HDMI might also be free of Optimus, but some builds have Optimus on external HDMI as well.

You could use the DisplayPort output and run the same benchmarks at the same resolution and see if the scores improve. Please let us know if they do. :)

Do you guys know if there is a program to control the fans without using control center??? Control center keeps on resetting msi after burner overclock every time computer restarts. All i need dragon center is for the fans.

Yeah I would like to know this as well. Dragon center is extremely annoying and every restart is a chore to have to wait for it to start up and then set overclocks all over again.

I think it looks about right given the clocks. I have seen a few 9900k at 5.0 around the same ball park 5.2 didnt gain much.. maybe due to firmware throttle or cap.

From my 5 years old Clevo. Stock clocks (4.7GHz). Physics score is above what you get from 5.0GHz from the Msi Gt76. 5.0GHz should more in the 27,2/27.5K range.

I am curious how you got a 9900k in a 5 year old laptop. It would have been at the newest a socket H3 100 series chipset. and the 9900k is an H4 300 series v-2.
