GREED, bruh. It's called Greed. Put in i9 in this combo and it will will hold up the prices. Buy more i9 from Intel means also lower prices in.

Yes the GPU is "upgradeable" but no one can really say if the next gen cards will be supported with current hardware. Nvidia changed the mxm format when they released the Pascal notebooks. They can change it again or drop mxm altogether with the 11 series notebooks. But if you bought a GT75 with a 1070 you can upgrade to a 1080. Or use the thunderbolt port and pair that with an external graphics amp and use any card you like.

Upgrading to a 1080 in a MSI Titan notebook, from a 1070 is rather difficult and nothing like doing it on a Clevo.
You need the proper PSU (most likely a single 330W is not enough; the Eurocom 780W will work, and trying to buy the 2x PSU + adapter dongle is going to be hard unless your reseller will sell it to you), and that's the easy part.

How are you going to get the 1080 heatsink and VRM sink? the 1070 version cannot be used. And the 1080 VRM sink from the GT73VR and GT75VR also cannot be used (due to changes in the extended CPU radiator sharing the GPU radiator area, split in half), although the GT73VR/GT75VR 1080 main GPU heatsink should still work (those are at least available on ebay or aliexpress).

You ditch the 2 power bricks and buy the Eurocom 780W adapter. ($$).

That would be a downgrade. Any eGPU above 1060 is bottlenecked by TB3 to PCIe conversion latency.

I use Eset since 2011 and had never any kind of issues like to less system performance and no infections since 2011.
and the no infections means not that the software will do everything for you.

But by looking at the reviews on the internet almost every review says that bitdefender has the least performance impact and a very good detection rate
    Is it true?

The problem with Bitdefender is it's so bloated, it has a registry cleaner, file shredder, password manager, VPN, you name it.

No thanks, all I want is a good antivirus that has an HTTP scanner like ESET's NOD32 to block malicious connections when I visit some bad sites.

Reviews only focus on a few aspects like detection but they don't focus on real world user experience. Bitdefender is known to be a very buggy app since many years often conflicting with other software and many talk about it slowing down your browsing speed/internet so bad.

Use what you like but I suggest you to try the demo before committing to any antivirus and see what works for you best.

Install Nod32, i used many years Kaspersky and is very good but sometimes the software blocks all the programs even the ones that are trusted…

With ESET i not have the problem anymore.

Actually I use F-Secure - I can get it cheap and it works okayish - but is hypersensitive giving lots of false positives on websites.

Yeah try installing any of the Adobe CS 2018 apps like Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, etc and see what it happens, the installation will hang at 99% until you disable F-Secure.

You see, I would rather not use any antivirus than have an antivirus that comes in the way of my workflow. that is the popular Adobe suite, imagine what it would do with some unknown app that you're trying to install.

NOD32 doesn't have any of that BS, it simply works in the background silently, and you never hear about it unless there was a a *real detection* as it has almost 0 false positives as shown in test for multiple months and years.

Just because F-Secure's company is a Finish based company and you're Finish doesn't mean you have to use it. Just saying.

You had a GT73VR in the past right? So see if you can explain one thing to me...GT73 and GT75 have the same cooling solution on GTX1080 right?

How is possible that GT73 have better temperatures in full load on the graphics if the parts are the same?

Might be a different thermal paste job/material, or different bins of that same GPU. No CPU or GPU performs the same, it all depends on the manufacturing process at the end of the day.

You don't need an antivirus. What is this 2007? Just use the built in defender, common sense (this goes a long way), and at the most Malwarebytes and you'll be good

    Hi everyone,

My system is about to be shipped from hidevolution but they are having problems maintaining a 5.0ghz overclock under heavy load it drops to 4.6 so they are going to set it at 4.6 stable should I try to go for more power or leave it at 4.6 any and all thoughts/opinions are welcomed

No BGA chip in existence can maintain a 5.0 ghz overclock!

    Who told you this?
    I think you're confusing HIDevolution's 8700K and 8086K 5 ghz CPU's here.

    You're buying a BGA chip.

BGA chips are DISCARDED BINS that failed to make proper quality assurance (silicon purity) binning for LGA 8700K or 8600K or 8600 non K parts. So the very best BGA "i9 8950HK" chips will clock about the same as the WORST 8700K's on the planet.

That was my brain cramp. When talking to him my mind was on the Intel® Core™ i7-8086K. He has the Intel® Core™ i9-8950HK.

That is NOT bd-prochot. BD prochot affects the CPU not the gpu. In fact this is a driver issue, that is all that it is. And yes my laptop shows exactly the same behavior. It goes away immediatelly when you set nvidia 3d settings to prefer maximum performance for your games (no one wants it to go all out on chrome or firefox right) OR when you downgrade to MSI-approved drivers (391.48 was the last one). You can find it here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/msi-gt75-titan-drivers.800622/
I guess the person in question should contact someone on these forums before sending a well working laptop for warranty for no reason. Or maybe he should keep sending it, maybe msi will actually work on new drivers then since 391.48 still cause bsod when screen times out sometimes (nvidia acknowledged and fixed that in newer versions).
Anyway, no hardware faults to be found aside from the device he took the video with, it's horrendous (unless he has a different issue that appears the same as mine). The cpu fluctuates in the video because of comfort mode, the temps are horrible because of the paste msi uses + very high power draw (the 1080 can go over 200W in this beast, while officially the 1080 is rated for 180 TDP even in the desktop models by nvidia - thus msi is pushing desktop performance which exceeds the founders editions - I linked a video demonstrating that before to you). The 1080 undervolts amazingly and I swear my fans don't ever exceed 3400 rpms while keeping around 70 degrees on gelid gc extreme.

Man I told you everything about the laptop already including what I did to achieve better thermals... you will have to search back for yourself. It's all here on the forums.
