How about this at $2,799?
Base = GT73VR Full HD (1920x1080) 120Hz~5ms, nVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080, Intel® Core™ i7-7820HK, 16GB DDR4/2400MHz, 1TB 7,200 RPM SATA III Hard Drive, Windows 10 Home.
Upgrade from there as you wish.

Probably also best you get 32MB+ Ram in these systems, as you usually want the first two sticks (if you did want 16MB) installed behind the keyboard, so the user can upgrade the easily accessible slot.
2x16GB is very expensive, however, so 4x8GB is more usual.Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -

That's not too bad, some thought the examples they found indicated a differential of $600, so $291 isn't too bad after all
And, for those that mentioned "adding" RGB, the GT73 already has RGB - the GT75 adds a mechanical keyboard (also RGB) that's different from the one on the GT83 series. The GT73 has the typical MSI/Steelseries keyboard.
Update: The GT75 product Overview only mentions 2x NVME M.2's, but now the Specifications page is filled out, and it confirms an additional 1x SATA M.2, so the GT75 has the same 3 M.2 sockets as the GT73 has.
1x M.2 SSD (SATA)
2x M.2 SSD Combo (NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 / SATA )

The GT75VR also has ESS SABRE DAC HiFi (the GT73VR doesn't anymore), CM238 chipset (GT73VR has HM175 now), Killer Multi GIG LAN at 10Gb/s (GT73VR is Killer E2400), Killer 1535 (GT73VR has 1435), Bluetooth 4.2 vs. 4.1, of course the per-key RGB mechanical keyboard (GT73VR is not per-key RGB...or mechanical). Some of these differences may be no big deal to some...but there are enough nice differences to make a $291.00 delta make sense.
And yes, it still has 2x M.2 NVMe and 1x M.2 SATA slots.
The configuration I mentioned for $2,799 will be on our website for Pre-order shortly. We will be bringing them in by Air, so shipping will begin in 3-4 weeks. When compared to the MSI GT73VR 7RF TITAN PRO-866 it will be $291.00 more after adding the 256GB M.2 SATA upgrade to make the configurations equal.Beemo, Spartan@HIDevolution and hmscott like this. -

Donald, just wanted to chime in:
The GT73VR with HM175 comes with a *7700HQ* CPU (7820Hk is not supported on this platform), and is called GT73EVR.
The CM238 version is still available.
https://www.msi.com/Laptop/GT73EVR-7RF-Titan-Pro.html#hero-overview
There's a 1060, 1070 and 1080 version, called 7RD, 7RE and 7RF. Firmwares and Bios are identical, I bet detection of the installed video card sets the model type (editing Bios to look for the marketing type= "Please Change Product Name.")
What's strange is, the exact same Bios is used on the HM175 and CM238, and the EC firmware can be cross flashed...(to no benefit except a better fan curve).Spartan@HIDevolution likes this. -
I really dont understand. notebookcheck claims that the New 3ms screen is actually the same 5ms panel used in the GT73VR.
Do you have this laptop in stock Donald, can you confirm ?
Did MSI just pull some false advertising ? -

Wow I did not know that. Thank you, Donald! You're on a rampage today.
P.S. my next laptop will be a socketed laptop directly from Hidevolution. No more BGA for me. But for now I love my un-nerfed GT73VR with the low voltage 4.5 ghz 7820k.Spartan@HIDevolution, hmscott, Papusan and 1 other person like this. -
Same crap that happened during GT72 maxwell -> GT72 pascal.
I guess the EVR would be the new GT72 pascal and the GT75 would be the new GT73. Same base chassis so it should be easier for MSi to make the parts and / or streamline the assembly line. -
Well thanks to some miscommunication I have a GTX1080 full hd version of GT75VR incomming.
We shall see how it compares to the GT73VR regarding performance, temps and quality.DukeCLR likes this. -

Warning: You're comparing a 1080 heatsink (MXM 3.0) to the 1070 heatsink (MXM 3.0b). The bottom picture is a 1070 system. You need the other picture with the 1080 system (VRM heatsink having dimples, GPU plate moved farther to the left). In one of their reviews of the 7RF (1080), notebookcheck *INCORRECTLY* used the 7RE in their images (1070 system!).
Here is the image you wanted (taken from a notebookcheck review that actually had the proper GPU/heatsink model):

How exactly is this even possible? It can't be hardware if it's the exact same panel... -
Where did you get these numbers from? If it is from Notebookcheck, then this is why:
I was curious about this difference so I asked NBC and one of their editors said that they used new, more precise equipment for the GT75VR test. So the difference might be because of the different measuring equipment. -
Hope its as nice as i imagine it to be!

Yeah. But in that case, why didn't they use the new, more precise equipment on the GT73VR also? (meaning: Re-test it)?
Both laptops should get the same scores. -

What happened to HDR? It sure was a big talking point for the media, when this thing was announced.
This MSI page mentions it too,but Notebookcheck said nothing about it. -
The mechanical keyboard finally shipped in the GT75 was promised for the GT73, for example.
Also, another funny thing is that MSI isn't advertising G-sync, but G-sync is still available to enable. IDK if it works only with 60hz, or 120hz, but it's something to test when you get your laptop.
Most people have reported G-sync working... IDK about the GT75, anyone test it yet?
How do you test for HDR support?praetorianx likes this. -
The laptop has G-Sync, and there's literally no way Nvidia would let them have it enabled without permission, without paying the toll fee.
I'm baffled as to why MSI doesn't advertise the laptop as G-Sync capable.
I guess the only way to test HDR, is to boot an HDR enabled program or game.hmscott and Donald@Paladin44 like this. -

Not really...M.2 256GB SSD adds $91...so it is a $291 delta above the MSI GT73VR 7RF TITAN PRO-866

My problem is with the LCD panel. NBC says the screen is identical to the GT73VR's, and THEN they not only get lower latency times testing it, they admit that they tested the 75 with newer equipment. Yet they failed to re-test the 73 with newer equipment. Two identical panels can NOT have different response times unless one panel has the overdrive circuit (which is NOT done by the panel manufacturer, AUO, CMI, LG, Samsung do not integrate overdrive into their bare panels, only into the OSD/scaler circuitry). And laptops don't have scalers or OSD's. Has anyone ever seen a laptop with overdrive or an OSD? So either MSI cooked up some sorcery terror and did something in the Bios or the True Color software, which the GT73 would also be able to fully benefit from, or MSI or someone else is full of puppy (or snowman) poop.

Them downgrading the GT73 doesn't mean the GT75 is worth even more. The GT72 was downgraded, then the GT73 slotted in at the previous flagship price. Now the GT73 is gimped (yet stays at the same price point?), while the GT75 comes in at an even higher price tier? That doesn't check out as fair or logical.
It may be a revision on the previous model number.Elraey, praetorianx and hmscott like this. -
I'm passing on this one with following reasons
New steel series keyboard & a palm rest are not enough reasons to upgrade
Intel is ditching 200 series chipset in Jan 2018 with launch of Coffee Lake.
or I can think of upgrading if a re-seller gives me discount of around $400 like last year when I bought GT73......DukeCLR likes this. -
I really hope that the GT75 8xx series drop in configuration though, don't feel like paying extra for the SSD and RAM from MSi. -
I'm hoping just like GT73, when MSI launched it with 6th Gen in Aug / Sep 2016 and later launched it with 7th Gen in Dec 2016 / Jan 2017, GT75 will come with Coffee Lake in next 3 to 4 months.praetorianx likes this. -

Coffee Lake 6-cores will be nice, but everyone currently rocking even a half decent GPU should be waiting until for them to be paired with Nvidia's Volta.

Yum, that 120Hz 5ms G-Sync panel is what I've been waiting for...almost close to perfection now MSI, now if we can do something about those terrible flexes in the chassis.
Thank you! -
I need someone with both a GT75 and some HDR enabled content, to see if this screen is actually HDR enabled.
When almost every announcement article, and then even a page on MSI's website mentions HDR, I expect it to be in there somewhere. -
-
I can do a comparison between my XPS15 9550 4K screen and my new GT75VR when it arrives.
