Unfortunately it's not how much time it takes to fix the particular problem it was sent in for, it's how much time before it gets assigned a tech to perform the repair needed. MSI is one of the quicker turnaround times for manufacturers and so you should be seeing it ship pretty soon. You can always call and see if they can provide you a status update since it's been presumably two weeks without one.

Normally, it's two to three week turn-around time if everything goes smoothly. Sometimes, they may have to order parts from factory which can take longer.

How is the repaste process on these?

From the photos, it looks as though the entire cooling assembly can be removed quite easily (don't have to remove the entire motherboard, I mean) ...

    thanks...

Thanks for response. I'm always using DDU before reinstalling drivers. Checked latest from NVidia and still random crashes. Maybe this weekend when I got more free time I'll do more testing. Just want to know if any other owner of GT73 come across this error. I still can send it back to shop for full refund, but I need to pay for shipment. And if I want insure my parcel it's going to cost a lot more.

Before sending it back try MSI Support, they have listed the problem under symptom drop-down list as

SFT09-System Randomly Hang Up / Freeze

May be you will get the solution and no need to send it back to re-seller at all.

Can you take a picture of the exact error? What driver are you using? I had a few issues with BF1 then the latest driver seemed to fix them but I have had no other issues running BF4, DOOM, and TW3 fully maxed out. I read a review on another model (GT62VR) where someone could not run any game and had to RMA due to a bad video card, paying shipping for a bad laptop is really bogus IMHO.

How's the bloatware on this laptop?
Is it easy to remove or better to do a clean install?

I'd I opt for a clean install can I do that from the F3 or do that via windows 10'setup?

The only clean install PDF I could find was for Windows 7

    Any help would be appreciate

I did a clean install and ended up re installing many of the apps, If I were to do it again I would just remove Norton and the True Color app otherwise I use everything else. I'm not sure what a F3 window is but I just installed a new blank SSD and did a download install from Microsoft, it automatically activated form some kind of hardware code.

I thought it had minimal bloat. I just used the Norton Uninstaller Tool to remove Norton.

Before I got mine, I did some research on doing a clean install. Here are a couple links I found that might help if you want to go that route.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/224342/how-to-clean-install-windows-10/
    http://www.expertreviews.co.uk/soft...lean-install-windows-10-and-create-boot-media

Personally I would rather just uninstall whatever than having to load all the drivers again.

So I called MSI. He said it shows it has been received and that's basically all he could tell me. Didn't know if they might have to order a part or what. He said maybe it's just a heavy workload. So basically nothing I didn't already know.

That irritates me, it was a flaw and it costs you time and money to have them fix it. My friend just had a bad experience with his GT62VR, he sent it back and posted a one egg review on NewEgg, prospective buyers should know that if you get a lemon don't screw around with MSI just send it back and get another. I feel bad about your situation. The fact that they can't tell you more about your laptop is just really bad support.

If somebody interested: I've done factory restart, installed new drivers and new version of Dragon Center and I haven't seen error "Display driver stopped responding and has recovered" yet. Old benchmarks still freezeing in the middle but games seem all right so far.

It is unfortunate that just about all major OEMs do not provide two way shipping, even on new orders with issues out of the box (although sometimes you can harangue them for a prepaid label). Best of luck with your system, Atma.

The price of GT73VR Titan Pro 6RF (512GB NVMe & 32GB Ram) in US is $3099 and in UK starts from £2,599.91 which in dollars equal to $3254.70 (as per today's currency conversion rate) so it make sense if both ways shipping is covered.

All MSI laptops in the UK are covered in this way providing you have purchased within UK. And OUR electronics prices are always higher than US. Local taxes, VAT etc.

Hello again. What should be core clock on 1070 when gaming? I've noticed that no matter is it on Turbo, Sport or Comfort mode my core clock reaches around 1830Mhz. Is it normal? I've uninstalled Dragon Center and it's still the same.

I'm asking because of strange situation I had when I was playing yesterday in Vanishing of Ethan Carter. It's happened about 1.5 hours in the game. It didn't crashed per se but instead game stopped, black screen for 1-2s, switched to Windows for a moment and back to game. Everything last max few seconds and during that sound was playing ok. After few minutes happened again. All that situation is similar to the one I had before. Difference is this time I didn't get usual message "Display driver stopped responding..." and game didn't completely crash.

As I mentioned in previous posts all temps are ok, and it's happening no matter what drivers I'm using.

    Your help would be appreciated.

Under EU Consumer Law, yes re-sellers or manufactures have to provide two way shipping cost but let's see what will happen after March 2017, when Brexit will be completed and UK will have to bring forward their own consumer law.

on other hand, from my prospect (international buyer and VAT doesn't apply on me), it's better to buy from USA, reason, in UK GT73VR Titan Pro 6RF model has 32GB (4 Sticks of 8GB each) and 512GB NVMe (2 256GB Sticks) no room to upgrade, looks like the manufacture doesn't want the user to mess with the hardware and already filled all slots. Also in UK I don't find any re-seller who offers upgrade on other hand If you want to upgrade lets say 32GB to 64GB ram, you first have to break the warranty seal (check with manufacture they have different warranty policies for different regions) and then you have to sell the 4 sticks (8GB) of ram so can upgrade to 64GB 4 sticks (16GB), pretty hectic.

SideNote: One re-seller told me to keep the original OEM hardware if I upgrade any, in case if I have to RMA it and will have to put back the original OEM hardware otherwise they won't accept it and it will not be covered under warranty.

Brexit will not affect us immediately. It will take time.

MSI are happy for end users to replace RAM and HDD as long as no components are damaged.

    Hello,
I have a MSI GT73VR with a 1070. The official Nvidia driver version on the MSI Webpage is 369.02. When starting Battlefieldfield it gives an error, that at least version 372.04 is needed to play the game. The game wont launch.
I tried downloading the newest drivers from the Nvidia Website. After installing them I found Gsync to working in the games(strong tearing) altough it is on in the nvidia control panel. Additonally most games crash after about 15 minutes.
Digging more into that issue, I found that nvidia themselves dont recommend using any other drivers than the ones officially released by MSI. As they are custom drivers specially made for the MSI laptops.

    Any comments would be appreciated.

I had similar issues with the last Nvidia driver. Battlefield 1 would crash after a few minutes with direct X errors. Same with Star Wars Battlefront. I went and downloaded version 373.06 and haven't had any issues since. Version 375.70 would crash just launching GeForce Experience.

I have been running 375.63 without any crashes and I played two hours straight using Dragon Center with a slight overclock. Gsync is working and the game is beautiful with FPS above 100. I had removed Geforce Experience then downloaded the notebook version of the driver from Nvida to my desktop. I then used DDU to remove the old driver and boot into safe mode where I was able to install that driver. I have not tried 375.70 on my laptop yet but it works fine on my desktop.

The thing is, if I go to nvidia.com and click to determine my graphics card and recommended driver, it tells me:

"The manufacturer of this system requires that you download the driver for your GPU from their support site.

The GeForce M series and GeForce Go series notebook GPUs use drivers that have been customized by the notebook manufacturers to support hot key functions, power management functions, lid close and suspend/resume behavior. NVIDIA has worked with some notebook manufacturers to provide notebook-specific driver updates, however, most notebook driver updates must come from the notebook manufacturer. Additionally, the desktop GeForce graphics drivers will not install on Geforce M series and Quadro M series notebook GPU's.
    "

As mentioned, I had ignored that before and simply installed the latest drivers which made games freeze and gsync actually not working.
In addition Geforce Experience does not give any recommondation for a driver update. Just says in the driver section "information unavailable".

I think MSI should be more professional and support their flagship models in better ways especially by such essential issues as the graphics card driver!

Anyone able to adjust volume while in a game using the function keys?
I was in skyrim and fallout and I'm unable to get the function keys to lower the volume.
    Is there any work around?

I had used that driver previously and it worked fine. I got suckered in by the "Update Available" message that kept popping up in the GeForce Experience app. I grabbed the latest drivers and started having issue. Back to the older version and problem gone. I also do clean installs of the drivers now. I have been lazy in the past and just let it do upgrades.

It sounds like you have already tried everything you can try, and it does sound like you have a flaky 1070.

Without opening it up to check the heatplate / VRM / memory thermal tape / TIM coverage, I think you have exhausted what you can do.

If you are still in the purchase return period, quickly return it before that expires, otherwise you will need to open an RMA with MSI to replace the GPU / motherboard. Which will take longer.

If the retailer has another new unit in stock, ask to swap, otherwise return for refund, and find another vendor with one in stock.

Please come back and let us know how it works out :)

That's still sounding like a GPU problem.

The temperature sensors don't cover all the parts cooled, there might be one or two not adequately covered / cooled chips that might be overheating.

You want the GPU clock to remain high while 3d operations are going on, you also don't want random strangeness interrupting game play, that shouldn't be happening.

Return for another unit, return for refund and purchase somewhere else, or RMA to MSI if you are past your return period.

GL, and please let us know how it works out :)

Find a re-seller who will give you 30 days return with option if you don't like return it and no question asked.

Buy MSI GT73VR, try it and if you love it keep it, if not return it and go for Alienware 17, it's launch date is after Nov 16, so you don't need to wait and read somewhere that Razer Blade Pro with GTX 1080 is also coming by the end of Nov. So you will have GT73VR to play with and kill the wait, keep it if you like it or return it and buy Alienware or Razor.

MSI GT73VR don't have various problems, only problems reported here are with screen bezel (only one user) drivers issue (multiple users but don't expect that laptop of any other brand will not give you problem with drivers) and 2 or 3 users have to return it because of Graphic card problem, don't expect that you if you buy Alieware or Razor or any other brand, it will not give you any problem.

If you can wait for awhile after the other models have been tested by others it could make your decision easier.

Aside from the Killer network software I haven't had any problems with mine, I really like it.

GT73VR is an amazing gaming notebook. No issues here apart from the far-left and far-right of the space bar not always registering keystrokes.

    Turbo

When you enable turbo is there a way to see the clock speed of the CPU?

Some free program to see the change?
    Thanks

Also I have the settings at default
Any idea how far you can push HR cpu and GPU?

You can use HW Monitor to see the clock speeds go up as well as the temps etc.
