It's a pity that it be a sata2, but I already got another ssd from my old laptop. I supposse it wil be enough for gaming -

Give it time, remember they had to call back the higher end ones to add it so they likely need to get the supply line properly sorted.

Just ordered the 512gb Sata raid model with 8.1 pro
so excited.... going to be a huge upgrade LOL
-
Hello all, new member here. I just saw your post fryise and wanted to confirm the IPS. I placed an order just yesterday before the website updated the information about the IPS, and pre-orders were due on November 21.... I've noticed pre-order dates have changed with IPS - but does this mean I will get the IPS or the older screen? -
or speak to jeff at [email protected]
-
Cheers, yeah I will email Jeff and see if I can re-order my pre-order

I think i found an affordable gt72 dominator pro with just 8gb of ram: can I use the accessible slot for another 8gb sodim in dual channel or is possible only with the hidden one beneath the keyboard?

Do you know what IPS display they will put in the GT72? LG? Samsung? Eizo? -
But maybe i'm going to order an ips screen in the future, and a "gtx 1180m". -
Just found out I will be getting the IPS screen with my order woohoo
-
cant wait for mine either.... as you can see my old laptop in sig below (4gb ram not 8gb ram... typo LOL)... is not up for the cut -
Alright, i really need to know this, as I take my laptop with me 85% of the time. To the owners of the GT72, how inconvenient is this to take around? on a daily basis?
-
-=$tR|k3r=- Notebook Virtuoso
Well, it's a 17" gaming notebook, so pretty much like any other, but it is lighter than most. I do not find it inconvenient at all..... but I am not a small person either.

I'm loving this laptop. However, I wish there was a way to switch GPU outside of the OS. In BIOS for example. That way we would be able to do that for non-Windows OSes too.

Intel 4980HQ flexing its physics muscle? Not bad at all. Maybe you can make a video showing the advantage of IPS screen?
-
Do you reckon you could make a default calibration profile for the ips screen too?

Can anyone recommend a good backpack for this model ?
-
striker has backpack options on page 1 of the thread.
i bought the targus xl17, which is large enough for the gt72 and my gt60 and their powerbricks, with room to spare.frysie likes this. -
looks awesome and its only $85 delivered here

Is there going to be a GT72 with 4980hq and ips, WITHOUT or with one SSD?... If so, I may have made a bad decision
-
This is the backpack I have been using since the m17x r3. The Gt72 is a little smaller so it fits nicely.

I like it because has a "Notsobulkie" look. -

I notice the CPU temps are 10C or more higher, than the 4710HQ. Are those temps with the factory paste? I think I would want to check the application, and re-paste with some ICD.

Finally IPS screen models are in
Yeah temps seem to be a bit higher but still pretty decent, not sure why they are that much higher considering the use the same voltage.
Might have to rethink getting a 4980HQ model and hope IPS screens become available with the base models too. -

For a cheaper bag and thinner bag the belkin 17" slim works well too.
Slim Back Pack for notebooks up to 17" -
It was tested with stock paste, everything out of the box.
I'll test with ICD later.
I think it's the clock speed of 4980HQ makes the temperature runs hotter.ryzeki and -=$tR|k3r=- like this. -
Hi guy, thank for the replies in the last few days.
In the end, surprisingly I found a 980m gt72 for a fair price (2200 for 4710hq 32gb ram 256 ssd no ips configuration) in my local store.
So yeah, can't wait for Tuesday to come!!!
