LOL... I ordered one, too.
FYI... same thing for MSI... same price, same part...

Put in my order! Garry says I should receive shipping confirm next friday.
Ordered it with the 6600K, no HD, 8GB Ram. I separately ordered a Samsung 950 PRO 512gb from jet for $270. Also have 16GB DDR4 2400 Corsair RAM on hand. This should be fun!
Going back to the PSU, any reason to get the 330 over the 230? Not really planning to OC and just using this primarily for gaming on the go. -

As Brother @Papusan mentioned, better binned. What that means is the CPU will use less voltage at a given clock speed and overclock better. Even if you don't overclock it should function with lower voltage and perform better while running cooler. Intel CPU quality and performance generally scales perfectly with pricing. Cheaper CPUs almost always perform like cheaper CPUs. -

The unlocked BIOS would be nice for memory timings. I'd love to tighten these timings up a bit. @Diversion I'll put in $$ for an unlocked BIOS.

Hi everyone, I recently purchased a GT62VR as a desktop replacement but after reading through some of this thread I've decided to return it for a Eurocom Tornado F5. However I noticed on their website they also have a similar laptop called the Eurocom Sky X4E2. It's just over a pound heavier and the screen hinge looks a little less strudy, but does anyone know if it any good?
Also is it better to go with the i5-6600k or the i7-6700? I don't plan on OC'ing and I'm mainly concerned about temps and longevitiy of the laptop.
And my last question, is it worth it to get the extended warranty? (I live in Canada). Sorry for so many questions lol.
I'm so glad I found this thread. It's hard to believe you can get a laptop with an i7-6700k and GTX 1070 for basically the same price as a GTX 1060 laptop after the student discount!hmscott likes this. -
Here an example of what unlocked bios can bring you - [email protected]
Or if you want a lower OC - [email protected]

Can SVET do this for me with a donation or Prema?hmscott likes this. -
I'm buying one. In due time when I have the cash. + rep to you for the initial spend to get a proper bios. When I get this I'll drop whatever donation is required to svet.hmscott likes this. -
Around 4 minute mark. An overclocked i5 6600k is bottlenecking the GPU with the CPU hitting 99% usage. I've said it before, we are fast approaching a time where the i5 is NOT enough in certain games. This was also with a GTX 1060. A 1070 would be an even bigger bottleneck. Anyone looking for the barebones I highly recommend you get an i7 unless you want to upgrade again later.hmscott likes this. -
Unfortunately I can't share this bios (at the time of this writing) but you can directly reach out to Svet (I already told him I was sending a few folks over to him) over on the MSI forums: https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=134259.0
Let him I know sent you and that you have the same exact system and bios. I spent around $40 USD to pay for his time but i'm sure he'll take much less next time since the work is done.
There's a process getting the new BIOS flashed, it's pretty neat with his custom tools, etc.. Custom bios flasher, etc.hmscott likes this. -

Can you elaborate how involved the flashing process is? I can't say I'm extremely familiar with flashing a bios. Would you say the process is "not for the faint-hearted" ?hmscott likes this. -
Process was easy as long you as you follow Svet's very detailed steps when he sends you instructions. Nothing scary about it, you'll have to create a bootable USB drive to dump and flash BIOSes, etc.hmscott, Kevin@GenTechPC, Talon and 1 other person like this. -
We got the BIOS boot logo working (absolutely love it!):

It would be best to tune the 6600k for 4x 4.0ghz+ before gaming, to bring the clocks up to parity with the 6700k.
You can't add cache or HT cores to the 6600k, and you wouldn't want to - more heat.
One game that uses more than 4 cores is an anomaly, not a trend, at least not yet. -

Awesome! Is the process to update the bios pretty easy? I'll have to reach out to Svet after i receive my unit.
It should be shipping out on Friday!
