    I travel Delta exclusively, too - it's 75W max per outlet which is why our laptops don't work: https://www.seatguru.com/traveltips/power_ports.php.

    MSI used to package the Realtek+Nahimic together as a matched pair package, you'd uninstall the old Nahimic, reboot, uninstall the old Realtek, reboot, then install the new Realtek, reboot, and install the new Nahimic, reboot - and that was the only pairing / install method that worked.

    Now that Microsoft Store is the only way to get Nahimic - so saith the note in the Utility section of the GS65 support site, IDK what the proper method is, but I am assuming the same order of uninstall and reinstall would be recommended.

    Hmm, MSI has that dual power supply + converter box for the SLI GT7x and GT8x, maybe that would work on the plane if you can find 2 power outlets within 6'-10' - I think you could spread the cables out from the PSU's to make it fit...
    cyberpower-gt83-3.jpg
    Of course the laptop would need to have the same PSU plug at the laptop as the GT73/75/83/etc PSU / Converter, but a lot of MSI laptops do...not sure about the GS65 or if there is a cable converter.

    Also IDK if 2 x 75w => 150w would even be enough...

    There is no HDD in this thing. Also, do you guys find having 1 TB of storage worth how hard it is to get to the internals?

    To access the internals, it's not hard but it does take quite a bit of attention to details and you don't want to catch yourself forgetting screws etc on the way resealing the cover. :)

    +255 with modded curve.PNG

    Sub 0.800 = +225
    0.800 = 1670MHz
    0.812 = 1733MHz
    0.825 = 1746MHz
    0.831 = 1771MHz
    0.843 = 1771MHz
    0.850 = 1797MHz
    Mem = +400MHz

    Have been getting around 16250~16300 with this one in Fire Strike.
    It would be great if anyone know a way to tweak sub 0.800 individually in the voltage/frequency curve.

    RAM setting 2666MHz (133 x 10) 18-18-18-40 @1.25V but mine came with Samsung DDR4.

    2666 Stable Ram setting.png

    Until now I've had my GS65 for almost 2 month, never seen it going past the 0.850V point, the Max-Q version won't use it so I didn't bother flattening.

    And for some of you guys if you are looking to change the BD PROCHOT temp limit, here is where you can change. If you want to set 93C then put 7, 94C put 6 and so on. Or put 20 for 80C :D

    So the max clock speed you hit is ~1800? And your base is 1670?
    Do you have any benchmarks numbers besides firestrike? Based on your overclock, you're at "normal" GTX 1070 laptop levels (1670 boost clock) and I'm curious to know if the Max Q truly matches it while using less power and producing lower temps. If it does, it's a huge win.

    I've been trying to look that up too, but still no luck to a better understanding.
    I left it on default for now.

    Haven't done other tests. But 1670 is not the base clock, the voltage can go down to 0.6250V depends on the GPU load, it's a pity, because the lowest voltage you can adjust in MSI afterburner is 0.800. To set the sub 0.800V voltages you can only rely on the default curve slider, if you +225 on the slider, the frequency on 0.6250~0.7xxxV will all have +225, only the voltage equal to or above 0.800V are the ones you have full control to. The frequency range in the curve I posted is pretty big, from 1316 to 1797, it usually sticks around 1430-1544MHz in games, and the voltage is already running under 0.800V ( It happens like 100% of the time in demanding games), so for more control and less throttling, maybe the normal version is the way to go.

    That's for the detailed explanation. I'll do my own tests and see how far I can undervolt and push clocks without throttling.
    Just gotta wait another month or so for my laptop to arrive... -_-

    I wonder if a Y adapter would work if you could use both the power ports per seat (if the person next to you isn't using theirs.) So a male plug into each of the ports which leads to one female. Then plug the MSI power adapter into that female. It would be drawing power from both ports for a total of 150watts.

    Anyone know if this is actually feasible and safe to do?

    I am having this same issue with nahimic. Processor goes up to 98% in task manager by nahimic app when playing LoL. Another issue im having is, voice coms wont work when using laptop speaker / mic. Tried in both LoL voice chat and Skype, neither pickup my voice nor can I hear my teammates voice. Speakers and mic are correctly configured as default in windows and in skype / lol settings, during this time i can hear sounds from the game, youtube or any other sound, except voice chats. Voice chat works once I plug in my usb headset.

    Temporary fix:
    Uninstalled nahimic, uninstalled realtek drivers, rebooted and let windows install the realtek drivers by itself. Now my audio/voice works with both laptop speakers/mic and usb headset. BUT when I install nahimic its giving me a message saying "My hardware isnt compatible with nahimic". Im assuming its because I didnt get the official MSI realtek driver which enables Nahimic.

    Anyone found a better fix for this or had the same issue?

    Sounds dangerous. Once you plug in the first one, the second plugs prongs are live. A plane is the last place I'd want to mess around with something like that.

    That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. Yet I kept my mouth shut.
    Why would you want to risk magic smoke in an airplane, out of all the possible places?
    I mean, come on.....(elevator music here)....a plane crash and the loss of your life, because you want to use your gigantic 250 watt gaming laptop on AC power instead of just playing on your phone, Switch or DS ?

    What kind of drive would you guys recommend for a second drive. I think the open slot is PCIe, and id probably go with at least 512 GB, as I have to actively manage my storage with only 512 GB.

    Hahaha. Very true!

    Although I wouldn't test it on a plane first. Again, no knowledge of electrical if that is evident, which is why I figured I would ask to see if anyone with more knowledge would know.

    Also, as I have no experience disassembling a laptop of this complexity (I know they faced the components towards the top for airflow reasons, but geez...), would you recommend I try it myself or hire my local computer shop to do it. Geek squad doesn’t operate on flipped Motherboards.

    If you don't want to take that risk, then have someone else to do it for you. Check with the shop beforehand to see if they are comfortable working on it or not.

    Is the currently occupied slot the combo( Sata and PCIe) or the PCIe only one? Because the crucial looks great, but it’s SATA, and I’m pretty sure if i move the windows installation to the other bay I won’t be able to boot. Also, would you recommend the crucial or the we blue 1tb drive?

    Crucial MX500 should be in slot1 (the combo one); second slot is only for NVME.
    I never try we blue;I bought only Crucial and they are reliable (I have also MX300 and still are working fine).
    About the windows installation I cannot say to much because I did install from scratch after switch (I'm not using the SSD that come with laptop, I have 2 of 1TB as I stated in previous post)

    Ended up getting a 970 evo 500GB, bringing total storage to 1 TB. The 1 TB NVMe drives were just brutally expensive
    Edit: actually, managed to get a 1TB drive for 330, so about 25% off, pretty good deal

    Hm. Specification sheet says it’s there in the headphone output. I don’t have a digital audio system to test, but if it’s not there I suspect a software issue. Is there a driver under your device manager audio section? I think it would be next to the speaker driver and mic driver

    When you select the jack in the Realtek software, does it have a spdif option (it usually only gives headphone and front speaker options for normal laptops)? When this output mode is selected, can you see a red light in the headphone jack? If yes to both, then you may not have pushed in the connector far enough. It happened to me the first time I used a 3.5mm toslink.

    There isn't any option for digital under realtek, nahimic, or and digital output in device manager or sound. It is certainly missing driver wise, I'm just wondering whether the hardware is even included in the machine.

    According to the spec sheet, the hardware is there, and it’s headphone digital output from the 3.5 mm jack. It seems it just doesn’t have a driver

    On my machine there is seemingly no digital audio playback devices,

    I'm just wondering if maybe they copy pasted that part of the spec sheet from a different model that has it, or if maybe they made a late change to the hardware and forgot to update the sheet. On the MSI forum some guy said he took a rough look down the jack with an inspection light and didn't see the optical transmitter.

    At the very least the digital output is totally absent from the driver, unless someone here can demonstrate otherwise

    It's SPDIF, so traditionally a RCA connector is used for SPDIF connectivity. Try a RCA to 3.5mm adapter.

    I did not consider this.
    Sorry, I should have noted up front. I was advertising regular TOSLINK diagnosis. TOSLINK is optical-only by definition, but I just checked MSI's website, it's SPDIF (which can either use TOSLINK optical or regular copper, usually via a RCA connector). I have an old, old Acer and a newer desktop that use 3.5mm TOSLINK.

    With other MSI laptops when you plug in any 3.5 mm device it asks you what you plugged in (speakers, headphones, or digital). Digital is just straight up absent as an option here it only lets you choose from speakers or headphones. I have no problems getting toslink to work with other msi laptops I currently and in the past owned

    Hey guys, proud owner of a MSI GS65 for about a month now, today I applied liquid metal to my CPU/GPU and together with a -150mv undervolt I never go past 72C on the CPU, I'm so happy!

    I bought a Samsung 970 EVO 500GB and installed it on the second slot (I have the Best Buy model).

    I have a question: Is it worth it to transfer my windows installation to my NVME drive? If so, what's the easiest way to do it?

    Thank you all for sharing your experiences! It was because of you guys that I decided to repaste my computer, thank you!

    If you transfer it, all windows actions will be SIGNIFICANTLY faster

    Thank you!
    Is there an easy way to do it? There's no problem if the NVME is in the SSD2 slot? Can it still be used to boot?
