Has anyone tried using the speakers from the GE63 on the GP63 to improve the bass response? I bought a pair, but it seems like it doesn't use all the speakers. They both use the same connector (GP63 speaker just has half of the wires missing), wonder if it's a software issue preventing it, or if the hardware driving the speakers differs from GE63 to GP63.

Hi, right now I'm trying to improve the thermals on my msig gp63 leopard 8re.

And I read that it's good to change the values of the acdc loadline, but I dont know how to unlock the bios.

Can somebody tell me what to do to unlock it?

    Thanks in avance.

Edit: I found it. It was here all the time. Bye.

I did two things and since then my bsod stopped.
1-unninstall throttle stop and Intel extreme utility.
2- changed my ssd for a bigger one.

But I honestly think that this was an Intel extreme utility problem from all I learned this days.

Guys, I am getting 90c with msi kombustor unless if I am using cooler boost, in wich case it reaches 85C. And Iam using liquid metal.
Could someone do a quick test with msi kombustor and tell me your temps?

If you run MSI Kombustor that means you are running stress tests on the system, so getting 90C is normal and with cooler boost it simply makes the cooling fan spins at max.
So if this is not what you expected then you can do a benchmark to see what kind of score you are getting with your current setup, then compare it against others that ran the benchmark using stock on everything.
Also, read about undervolting for your processor where you may be able to gain more fps due to reduced heat generated from lower voltage. Liquid metal definitely would help about 5 fps at least.

Thanks for you answer, I don't really play on this system. I am an architect, I use it to model and render my projects.
Cpu temps are actually pretty good since I pasted it with conductonaut. But gpu does concern me since I rely so much on it.
I reached the 90C with kombustor, with twinmotion (this is a real time render program built with the unreal engine), aida64, unreal heaven and the only game that I have installed on it, the Forza 4 horizon(In dynamic graphics, when I lock it on ultra with 120fps it will reach about 85/86).
My concern is because I use twinmotion and lumion a lot, those are real time archviz, but are actually very light programs for the 1070. It would be like the most simple modern game you could imagine, with just a house in it. Lol.
So running it for some hours at 90c has taken some good sleep hours from me. (Should I be that worried?)
The same program in my old gtc 960m runs without problems and without reaching more than76C. I do know that this is a different card, different cooling solution and different voltages.
    There are some other things.
The system got through maintenance and assistance cause of a short in some capacitor/potentiometer, don't really know about it, had to trust the technician talk.
My clocks in msi afterburn are showing about 1805 MHz in boost mode, shouldn't it be lower for this card.
Lowering the curve in after burn did affected benchmark results, but not temperature.
    Any thoughts?

I just installed Rise of the tomb rider and temp is still at 90°C. Don´t know if this should be the case for a 2016 game.
Settings are at high, not ultra (very high).

I know this topic is kinda off dead by now. But would anyone replicate any test on your system just so we could see what is the normal temps for this system by now?

He’s back! I may have a different laptop now but I had tried rolling the dice on a carbon based TF8 ThermalRight (13.8W/mK) thermal paste sold on amazon as my stock paste was so bad some of my core temps had a 15C difference between them. It was pretty easy to spread on both gpu / cpu and is suppose to last several years. There’s no curing time but my temps improved more after it settles a couple days. Pretty happy with the results so far (applied late July).

Hahaha. Great to see you here TomoPrime.
I am actually using conductonaut, but will gladly take a look if i can find the TF8 ThermalRight in Brazil, thanks for ther tip. I am not facing thermal throttling, but 90°C is scaring me for a GPU. And it seems to be the new norm with this msi machine.
What system are you using right now? I am thinking about giving up MSI and getting the Asus zephyros S Gx531 with rtx 2070 although it is the Max-Q version, I am just hoping for better thermals and maybe some ray tracing render engenies for archviz.

I was looking last year at the Zephyrus too. It's a nice thin and lite machine. I love it has a big battery with a usb-c charging option and 90w max q. Better check if 65watt charger is for all models as I forget. What I didn't like was the soldered on ram (will the 1 upgradable dimm easily match for dual channel?) and limited storage options but that probably won't matter if you go all out on the initial purchase.

I went with a Clevo P960RN because of a temporary price drop at the time. To me the laptop in form factor slightly resembles a step between an MSI GS65 - GS75 as it's a 16.1" screen in a metal body but lacking thumberbolt 3. It weighs around 4.5lbs. The trackpad is glass smooth and properly centered with the keyboard that has a numpad. I got decent OC numbers benching it prior to my repaste. The 180W power brick is pretty slim too for travel. For home use I might pickup a 230W brick IF it's compatible. I'm running stock but someone in the P960 series trail posted where you can download updated bios and firmware. I believe you can even get a prema bios. The case was easy to open for upgrading and repasting. No need to flip the motherboard. You do have to pop up the keyboard to remove some screws but no big deal really. I had no issues hooking up an Oculus Rift S to the machine with it's mini DP port. May be doing some VR development soon. VR games run great. The Oculus Rift S is a breeze to set up and demo on the go. I also subbed to Microsofts GamePass for PC. I was able to play Metro Exodus with RTX On even in 4k on a P series Visio tv. You can fit 3 drives in the laptop for storage. I started with a 500GB WD blue, added a 2TB intel 660p later on, and still have room for a 2.5" drive. I have 16GB 2666Mhz ram. I might use 3000Mhz (xmp) when going to 32GB. It wasn't all smooth sailing when I got it but everything worked out after some fine tuning, regular windows build updates and driver updates. Nothing like my last nightmare.

I was also looking at Lenovo and the Tongfang variants out there for budget friendly RTX machines. Especially if you want to go to up 2080mq for portability. Some say to stay on a mobile 2060 over the 2070MQ but all Max-Q's vary. Unless the test results really speak for themselves to me if you see a great price to save hundreds go for it.

I'am glad that you moved on and got a system that suits you better. Meanwhile it is not so easy to bring higher end machines to Brazil. I was looking to some eluktronics from clevo. Still investigating. Prices will only rise with corona virus on asia right now.
The thing with a clevo for me is that I ain't going to find parts for replacement in Brazil, and that's a lesson i own to MSI. lol
Why is that, that everyone says to keep on 2060?

Ok Guys, could someone help me out here and just check this little tab in GPU-Z. To see if those max temps are right?
Default and max temps at 91°C?

Eluktronics - that’s cool if you can purchase from there. They also sell the TongFang machines. The Mech-17 has a larger mechanical keyboard (brown or red MX). Supposedly the max-q are really max-p limited by Firmware. They have a custom OC feature you can opt to add-on during the preorder. In some cases you can select for the larger battery or opt for a 2.5” drive bay with a smaller battery. There are many clones of TongFang I believe the CyberpowerPC Tracer III Slim (GT417SVR900) is another example sold in the US also OverpoweredPC sold by Walmart. I don’t know of the equivalents for Brazil but they are out there.

Initially many early RTX reviews favored 2060 over 2070mq as the performance gap was narrow. But this was subjective. Many mid range machines began with single dimm configurations lacking dual channel memory for ram so laptops were constrained by a lower TDP limit during tests. So I would look for more recent ratings running dual channel ram. Plus the NVidia drivers have been updated to include more manufacturers since RTX launch. But besides that no two Max-q’s are identical depending on the manufacturers thermal and power constraints they will show different results. Lenovo has shown to deliver a solid RTX value performance bar say over Dell.

    Two quick questions:

Any known issues if I let my laptop upgrade to Win10 1909?
UltraMale ( @Spartan) did an incredible job of setting this up for me after I bought from Donald at HIDevolution. I've had zero issues so far.
He made it look like Win7 and I don't want to lose that...

Second question: I recently cast a video using render from VLC and it messed up my sound completely. Says everything is working properly but no sound from speakers or headphones.
I don't believe I'm using Nahimic at all (it says it's mirrored in Device Manager) and not listed in Apps. Dragon Centre not installed either. I have Realtek HDA driver and the Realtek Console.
Is this a simple clean install from MSI website using suggested realtek driver 6.0.1.8612?
I tried paper clip EC (after hard shutdown and unplugged) which did nothing. I am reading some people use DDU to clean uninstall - is CCleaner just as good to get rid of dead registry entries?

As always - very much appreciate the support and suggestions from this site.

    Thanks!

I was in a similar situation with my GP63. Recently some automatic updates (both driver and Windows updates) got pushed to my computer which killed my audio. No errors until I tried to play something, and I also was not using Nahimic, just the Realtek driver. I tried the driver on MSI's site and also the driver directly from Realtek and neither worked for me. The only way I got audio back for now was:

Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controllers -> Realtek(R) Audio -> Properties -> Driver -> Roll Back Driver

The driver that it rolled back to for me was from Microsoft dated 9/4/2019. You also may have to restart once or twice before you actually get sound back. Now obviously because this isn't the Realtek driver you lose all the features that that driver has, so this is a temporary work-around. I'm running 1909 and haven't tried re-installing Windows yet to see if that fixes the issue, so if anyone has recently done a fresh install, please let me know if that results in working audio.

Thanks for the suggestion. Sadly no rollback option (greyed out) - when I try to update driver I get options: HDA from Windows, drivers from 7/17/2018 and 9/25/2018 - unfortunately none of these work.
I'm ready to try the one from MSI site but, because I do not have Nahimic installed, I don't want to mess things up further by running the setup.exe from MSI that includes Nahimic (8612 UAD WHQL Nahimic 1230_2019_0111_134708_6.01.8612).

I let Windows install driver 4/30/2019 6.0.8694.1 but that didn't work either.
I did multiple restarts after each installation both plugged and unplugged.

Guess I'll try the MSI with Nahimic. Failing that, I'll do the Windows Upgrade.

You could also try to just uninstall the driver completely (in Apps and Features and Device Manager) and see if Windows installs a default audio driver. But otherwise, yeah, those are the only other options I'm seeing.

On a positive note, I very recently figured out (after well over a year of trial and error) how to install Windows Precision touchpad drivers on this laptop:

I know this thread is pretty stale now, but if anyone still wants help with this, let me know.

    I'll never understand Windows...

I uninstalled VLC player completely in case there was a conflict with that renderer.
I uninstalled Realtek from Device Manager. (Nahimic mirror disappeared from the list at same time).
Then I uninstalled Realtek HDA from Control Panel>>Programs>>Programs and Features.

    Restarted.

Worked very briefly. Windows re-installed the 4/30/2019 Realtek driver (and the Nahimic mirror)
It quit working again for no reason - repeated process and it works for a couple minutes, then dies. Makes no sense to me at all.

Tried the MSI Realtek HDA install package. Didn't work.
Something is conflicting with it I guess.
I have sound for about a minute, then it flashes red "X" on volume control, sound dies and then it says device working properly again (but it isn't). No speaker. No headphone. HDMI output is fine..

Appreciate the advice wizardbrony! Precision touchpad is not for me, but I'm glad you figured it out. I just want sound of some kind so I can play my @#$% games!
    All the best.

In my experience, if a driver temporarily works and then stops working again, that can mean that Windows Update just made a change in the background. Try disconnecting from the internet and then repeating what you did. If it stays working after that, it was probably Windows Update.

Have you applied the registry to prevent WSUS from installing the driver? Please see below.

You're right! Windows was updating without me knowing.

Just saw this now - was following similar advice from someone else. Update definitely the problem, but what a process to make it STOP!!
I used a registry fix to stop updates, uninstalled/deleted drivers and disconnected from internet and Windows still added driver from 2019/09/04, but it's stable so far.
    Very happy I have sound.

Thank you both very much for the suggestions. :)

Hi guys, i've been trying to use the nvidia surround to play rocket league multiplayer split screen but it has to split it into my laptop screen and another external monitor which has been connected via hdmi.
The laptop screen isn't showing up in the nvidia surround options

As far as I know, the laptop display is only connected to the integrated Intel GPU, so it can’t be used for NVIDIA features like that because the NVIDIA driver can’t see it. However, both the HDMI and mini-DisplayPort connectors are driven by the NVIDIA GPU (which I believe is MSI’s “Matrix Display” feature), so you should be able to use NVIDIA Surround with a second external display.

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

Hello everyone, I have a MSI GL63 8RE [2018]. Motherboard and cooling is practically same [no second nvme drive tho]. I have a few questions and would appreciate any form of insights to these queries.

    1. I was curious about the heat dissipation of the system. The shared heat pipe [the fattest one] does not touch any of the parts of the CPU heat sink even though it looks like it [IMG] . It only touches at the end where the fan is located. So it is by design I presume?

    2. While applying new TIM in my laptop, I've notice the GPU contact plate of the heat sink is much smoother than the CPU. Will this negatively impact the TIM's cooling performance. These two photos [IMG] [IMG] I took with my macro lens so you can check the roughness. CPU plate looks like it has some small dents which can make air pockets in the future. Will TIM negates this?

    3. The core differential of 10c is acceptable according to Intel. Intel also says when in idle or equal load is given to all cores, then core differential should be checked. But what about power draw? Like suppose when CPU briefly pulls 70W, I see cores 0,2,4 reach 90-95c while cores 1,3,5 75-79c. At 45W cores 0,2,4 are at 82-85c and cores 1,3,5 72-75c. (65: [IMG] | 45w: [IMG] )

    4. Any way to get temperature labels in Silent Option??

Just a few months past my warranty and it seems as though my hard drive has failed. It's a Seagate Barracuda 1TB. (ST1000LM049) Anyone else have this experience? Have been looking at getting a Samsung NVMe drive anyway so I purchased a 970 EVO Plus and installed Windows 10. Now it looks as though I can't get the drivers I was looking for from the MSI website (GP63 Leopard 8RE-602US). Anyone know of another way to get these (as Windows Update is just installing generic drivers at the moment)? I already downloaded the Nvidia driver but doesn't seem to be anything regarding the SteelSeries keyboard (their website redirects to the MSI website).

Also, any advice on possibly recovering data from the Seagate hard drive? It's currently not initialized (nor is it able to be initialized) in the Disk Management utility, not showing up in File Explorer (which makes sense given it's not initialized), but I believe it might showing up as an Unknown device in Device manager.

Hi everyone. I bought a used GP63 Leopard 8RE-077 in early 20". I used it until early 21" when it began to experience Sleep issues. Basically laptop would turn off display due to inactivity it would be unresponsive so I would Hard reset it. I did this quite a few times cause the Sleep paralysis persisted. Finally one day during during Sleep I Hard reset it and it would not turn on. Since then the battery and the board receives no power. No charging light, no response when I press Power.

It has been like this since than and I've put it on the side but I want to see if anyone has experienced something similar and have idea what is wrong with my laptop.

    Thanks.

Hey @Falkentyne, i tried these settings earlier today, the imon slope and offset was already set from earlier on but when i tried the tdc disable and the tdc limit and vr current limit, the throttle stop stopped working, now the offset of the throttlestop isn't working as it should be.
    upload_2021-10-6_5-24-17.png

i even tried changing to different throttlestops but it still did'nt work
