Thank you very much for your time!
Did you unlock the bios ?
Edit: with settings and stock bios I got 1189.
Thank you so much
Edit2: when I disabled msi afterburner, then igpu became active again. I don't know why but with 398 version it worked fine and with 416 stops

Just a followup guys for those who had the USB Issue with the right side ports , I also returned two of these GP Series systems like Marco but MSI today informed me it was a Firmware incompatibly Issue with some USB Drives and that new Firmware and Bios's have been released for the effected Models , so worth checking your model's Support Page.. -
I finally did some serious Googling and managed to fix the Bumblebee GPU switching with my GP63 8RD on MX Linux 17.1. It turns out one text file just needs a few lines added to it, in /etc/bumblebee/xorg.conf.nvidia:
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Default Screen"
Device "DiscreteNvidia"
EndSection
and a reboot.

(just a update after sooo many days...)
Hi,
After tweaking the undervolt settings a bit I'm getting almost 75-78° C on every core while playing far cry 5.
Without undervolt it is almost 90° or higher. -
greetings,
this seems like the proper place to post it...
a couple of days ago i placed an order with hidevolution for a slightly modified gp63 leopard laptop, and i've just registered here [guess i missed out on the 'hide' discount, oh well] and it's my first post...it'll likely be a long one as i tend to type exhaustive messages cramming everything into them in a single shot...please bear with me as i have some questions re-my new laptop...if my rambling is too tasking to read, please scroll down to the bottom of my post for my questions/concerns...
i'm a total newb, 52 y/o and not a gamer... the last time i played a friggin' video game was way back in '82 or '83... we're talking video game arcades and 'asteroids', defender', 'space invaders', etc...
however, my nearly 9 y/o acer laptop has been nearly unusable for the past 6 months or so...i'm talking waiting time of sometimes 10 minutes + before a pop-up ad intensive page would fully download, or wouldn't download at all...
it was high time to get a replacement laptop and about a month ago i started an intensive search on-line for one...despite realizing that an additional wait of around 4-5 months would likely get me a faster, better laptop for the same money, waiting wasn't an option for me as my current laptop doesn't even allow me to use my facebook account anymore and it's clearly dying....
my main objective with regards of the laptop usage is watching hd movies [netflix/prime amazon], i'm also a youtube videos junkie [sometimes i have 5+ different video pages opened simultaneously] and i often watch live stream soccer games... however, i might even buy a couple of games and try it although that's last on my list as far as my laptop's function goes...of course browsing/surfing the web and occasional facebook login are also activities i use a pc for... thus i took an interest in fast 'gaming' laptops as well, and then primarily...
went through many hours of research with regards to my next laptop purchase: laptop review sites, youtube and pc type of sites' laptop comparison testing, googled until my thumb went limp several times [i'm a quadriplegic in a wheelchair so i can type with my right thumb only]...
the more i researched the more i became confused and frustrated...
finally, based on what's out there available at present, i made a basic list of what i must have [and would prefer]...
it boiled down to a 15" size laptop, with the recent i-7 8750h cpu [with i-9 preferred], at least 16gb 2666mhz ram, gtx 1060 [with 1070 or even 1080 preferred] card, additional [boot up] ssd drive of at least 250gb plus a minimum 1tb of storage hd... additionally it had to have sd drive, decent fast monitor [120 or 144hz with 5ms or less]...batter life didn't matter much because i'll be keeping it plugged in almost all of the time, as i'm kind of grounded in bed 90% of my time at present...
i've budgeted $1,500 for all this and this amount was barely what i can afford to pay off in a single month...
i narrowed my potential laptop list down to:
- acer predator helios 300 [$1,350 at newegg with the basic desired specs above],
- hp omen 15 [only $1,200 at newegg but with only 128gb ssd at that price and no option to upgrade it to 256gb ssd],
- asus tuf fx504gm-es74 [$1,300 at newegg] with minimum above specs],
- msi ge63 raider rgb-603 [$1,500 at microcenter.com with above specs but with the superior gtx1070 card], and
- msi gp63 8re-602 laptop [around $1,450 at newegg with gtx 1070 but only 128gb with no option to upgrade to 256gb ssd]....
after further reading i dismissed the helios 300 due to numerous complaints of overheating, i also eliminated the hp omen 15... i couldn't find enough in depth info on the asus fx504 so it was also eventually eliminated, leaving me with the msi ge63 raider and the msi gp63 leopard to choose between...
meanwhile, after lurking on a few laptop/gamer forums, and noticing a few models built by them for sale at newegg, i discovered the hidevolution website...
since they offer numerous options/upgrades with every laptop they sell, plus they do pretty comprehensive testing prior to shipping the laptops out and offer proprietary heavy duty cooling upgrades, i've decided that i'll purchase my next laptop from them, even if i'd have to pay a bit more than when buying from some generic pc dealer...
finally, i specced out an msi gp63 8re-602 leopard on hidevolution site which totalled $1,440 with my minimal desired specs + their ultimate thermal cooling package and some extras...
i couldn't register an account on their site so i sent an e-mail to them and also inquired about that laptop model...
i received a reply from ted k. who - after i listed what my needs and expectations are - concurred that my choice of this laptop model was a correct one...
there was nothing left but to place my order...
i preferred a gtx 1070 to the gtx 1060 but there was no such option on their site at the time...
at the last moment i decided to upgrade to 32gb dual channel [2x16gb] 2666mhz hidevolution recommended/installed premium ram option [from my original desired 16gb 2666mhz standard hidevolution installed ram], a 250gb samsung 970 evo m.2 pcie nvme ssd, and a 2tb seagate firecuda sshd [from my original choice of generic 1tb sata hdd]...
i figured that the 32gb ram especially will be of better use for me in the long run than the 1070 card since i don't really play... the total price was quite a bit much over my budget but screw it...i had to choose the free 5 business day fedex shipping because i was completely maxed out budget wise and couldn't even afford the extra $ for windows 10 pro so i had to go with the home version... hopefully my new laptop will arrive - fully optioned and tested - within 3 weeks or less...
so, finally, i can get to my questions/concerns:
1. this is my only 2nd laptop besides the ancient acer aspire i have now... i had the present laptop set up and connected by a verizon tech because i switched to verizon tv/internet/phone service when i purchased it [i since got fed up with their customer service so i switched back to inferior optimum] therefore i can't recall whether there's some extra special steps i need to perform when i'll first turn my new laptop on in order to set it up with my cable service, my samsung smart tv, mouse, etc... are there any particular steps you'd recommend i perform when setting up my new laptop for the first time once it arrives?...
2. should i actually open up my laptop periodically and perform some cleaning up service with a vacuum/blower?...
based on what i've read about how easy it is to damage the retaining clips when opening these laptops i'm wary of ever opening it up...
otoh, i'm a heavy smoker and use my laptop primarily in bed [the sheets/comforter generate quite a bit of lint over time], plus these gaming laptops have quite large vent openings and i'm worried that all kind of lint can easily find its way into the pc's innards...
the cigarette smoke can also be a major pollutant to any electronic device's internal system...i've seen the inside of my audio receiver and dvd player after a few years' stint in my bedroom and it looked horrible...the resin/residue of tobacco smoke was unreal and physically covered everything...
any suggestions with regards to above?...
[please refrain yourself from suggestions of quitting smoking, etc]...
thanks...

I wouldn't worry about the clips at the back (see attached picture). Some of them have chipped off, but it makes no difference since its the screws that ultimately make the bottom lid stick. If anything, now the bottom cover is easier to remove.
And another of the top case's area where it clips to the bottom one (behind) screen (picture)

ok, so basically i should plan to do away with the retaining clips and not to worry about opening my laptop on regular basis...
how often do you people do a major clean up job on your laptops?...
does anyone know of a link on youtube or somewhere where a good proper laptop cleaning job is demonstrated?... any special equipment i should purchase [some mini vac, et alia] to do this that's better than other stuff?...i likely will have to find someone to open the laptop for me and clean it up on account of my rather useless hands' dexterity but i first need to learn how to clean the system properly before asking someone for that favor....
with regards to msi's 'cooler boost 5', i understand that one needs to turn it on/off as needed?...or does it work automatically and revs up when a temp spike is detected?....
the hidevolution's thermal cooling option i purchased as an option doesn't interfere with the factory 'cooler boost 5' operation, does it?...
these likely seem like stupid questions but as i've mentioned already i'm a total newb to gaming laptops and i'd rather ask a stupid question than wonder if i'm doing anything wrong....
if anyone could also address the initial laptop start up procedure i inquired about in my initial post i'd be grateful...
i seem to remember reading some posts by @Ultra Male while i was lurking on this forum, trying to acquire pertinent info prior to placing an order for my laptop, which mentioned an initial start-up procedure he specializes in which will declutter the system and also set up proper initial on-line connection [e.g. to avoid connecting via microsoft, et al]...
since i ordered my laptop with the clean install of windows perhaps none of this even applies here but i want to make sure i'll do the initial start-up procedure correctly, in order to avoid any potential issues down the line... unfortunately, the more advanced technically the devices become, the more potential for technical issues there is and i've been completely out of the tech loop for nearly 2 decades now...
i also recall reading somewhere recently that the whole msi dragon center is something that's better removed from the system... is this something i should do?...
thanks...Last edited: Nov 7, 2018Gursimran82956 likes this. -

Cooler Boost 5 is just the design of the cooling. The system is exercised at all times.
For cleanup, it's once every 2 years, or when you notice perf going down. You should run some baseline benchmarks when you get your laptop, then test it out every few months to make sure you're not dropping in performance.
Beware that sometimes if your OS isn't maintained, it can also slow down your laptop. Keep your OS drive as clean/empty as possible.
Your questions are big so don't be shy from searching around.
I still recommend the msi.Gursimran82956, skibone and Kevin@GenTechPC like this. -
yeah, it seemed like the 'cooler boost' is a combination of hardware [heatsinks/pipes conduit] design and software to control the fans from what i could gather on msi's website but i figured i'd ask...
also, i already missed out on a potential 'notebook review' forum membership discount from hidevolution because i lurked here instead of registering an account and i figured i'll now find out all the answers to concerns/questions i have prior to my new laptop's arrival rather than after....hence my inquiries....
anyway thanks for replying and the info, i find it quite helpful....Last edited: Nov 7, 2018undervolter0x0309 likes this. -
Does anyone know if this laptop can run G-sync on an external monitor through its Mini-DisplayPort?

Gsync with external monitors is controlled by the monitor hardware itself, not by the Nvidia video Bios. If the monitor supports Gsync, it will work.undervolter0x0309, Papusan and Kevin@GenTechPC like this. -

Ok so I got a Windows 10 1703 vhd and rebooted from it. Ran tests:
Now back to 1803 I get this
Does anyone have any idea why there is a loss in FID/C0 and more importantly how to revert the behavior that once was in 1703?

The inspectre tool says the protections are indeed off on 1703/1803.
Will run timers when I get a chance to restart. -
Edit. I forgot to ask... Is Win 1803 upgrade or clean install. And you run same drivers.Last edited: Nov 12, 2018undervolter0x0309 likes this. -

I've been quietly following this forum for a while now and just want to thank you all for helping me improve my sexy new GP73!
I would like to know why everyone insists on undervolt the CPU core and cache by the same amount? I think I read somewhere that undervolting the cache might lead to system instability, but what about going the other way? Is undervolting the core more than the cache not safe? Does it reduce performance? I'd also like to free up a little more power for the CPU by undervolting the iGPU, but how do I test that for stability? I can't find a figure for the max possible power consumption for the system but it seems like the 180 watt power brick that comes with the laptop is pushing it. Would getting a higher watt one give some more headroom?
Many thanks in advance! -
Falkentyne Notebook Prophet
If two different values are set, the higher one takes precedence, from what I tested.
For AVX loads, it is different, where I think the lower value is used for AVX loads. But for non AVX instructions, the higher value is used.
Either way it's too complicated to worry about it. Just set them to the same amount. There are far more important things to worry about.RoyB@tty and undervolter0x0309 like this. -
I've undervolted my CPU by 135 mv and GPU by 200 mv which seem to be stable... I also applied the bios power mods explained in this forum and dropped my boost frequencies by 100 mhz. I didn't get any power throttling during a heavy gaming session last night but now I keep getting an EDP other yellow warning under Ring in the Limit Reasons window. Max power is 33.6 W. Does anyone know how to fix this? -
Ah, never mind. I think I fixed it by updating to the latest EC firmware.
Update: I was wrong. I'm still getting the yellow EDP Other message routinely under Ring in the Limit Reasons window. This is driving me nuts. I've tried IMON slopes of 50 and 60 and that only seemed to work for a day. I've also downclocked my CPU by 200 MHz but still having no luck. I'm also starting to wonder whether modifying the power limits for my laptop is a sensible thing to do anyway...Last edited: Nov 19, 2018 -
I have since cleared my CMOS settings to remove any trace of Dragon Centre, as this supposedly also contributes to throttling issues, but it doesn't seem to have done anything.
I have read on another forum that changing the VR current limit to 800 in bios might solve the issue, but that was for MSI titans. I have seen others on this forum suggest modifying the VR current limit in bios too. I am not sure whether doing either is safe as these laptops are only being supplied by a 180 watt power brick yet the combined power draw of an 8750h running at 3.9 GHz and GTX 1060 running at stock boost seems to be about 180 watts... Even though I have undervolted, there are other components that will draw additional power. Also, wouldn't the manufacturers of these laptops design components such as the VRMs with these power limits in mind? I would appreciate some more seasoned advice on this matter, thank you! -
Falkentyne Notebook Prophet
Go to CPU VR Settings.
Set TDC enabled to disabled.
set TDC limit to 0.
Set VR Current Limit to 1000
Set IMON SLOPE to 50
Set IMON OFFSET to (-) 31999
Prefix to negative.RoyB@tty likes this. -
Thanks for replying. Before I apply those settings, please could you explain what they do and briefly state the risks?

If the hardware's not breaking down, I would sure bet that a good fast Linux like MX Linux (which I help develop at mxlinux.org) would bring that old Acer back to life. Linux also does not suffer from bitrot like Windows, so you don't have to reinstall every 6 months-year to keep it running fast. -
I asked because I was concerned the video out ports goes through the Intel GPU (Nvidia's Optimus tech) which conflicts with G-Sync. See Nvidia's own G-Sync FAQ site: https://web.archive.org/web/2017092...eforce.com/hardware/technology/g-sync/faq#q17 on
Apparently the mini-displayport of this laptop is connected directly to the GTX 1070 so there's no such issue.Kevin@GenTechPC likes this. -

Hi, I´m new here. I want to buy a msi gp63 with the 1060, 16 ram and a 250 gb ssd. Do you think it´s a good idea to buy it on hidevolution? I know there is a discount if you post here, but I´m not sure about it.
I´m not an expert on gaming laptops, do you think it´s a good choice for a casual gaming and a workstation?
Thanks. -

1) HIDevolution's superb quality control so you ensure you get a 100% working unit without having to deal with the trouble of packaging it and sending it back if it had any issues.
2) They do a far superior job when it comes to thermal paste applications and have cooling mods like the Fujipoly Extreme Thermal pads to further reduce temps and ensure it runs cool.
3) HIDevolution also gives you lifetime tech support which as we've seen on the forums from many other users is excellent and way better than any standard OEM Customer Service
4) They have many options to configure your laptop to your liking in terms of SSD/RAM/etc.
email [email protected] to get the NBR Discount
If you do end up joining the HIDevolution Gaming Team, I can help you tweak your laptop also for free. These are the Ultra Male Tweaks:
You should NOT use Windows 10 without these tweaks unless you don't value your privacy and their stupid ads and telemetry.
1- Uninstallation of all the Windows Store Garbage Apps like 3D Paint, Print 3D, Alarms & Clock, Feedback Hub, Maps, Groove Music, News, Weather, etc.
2- Removing all Windows 10 Privacy Invasion stuff like Telemetry, sending your keystrokes to Microsoft, automatically installing suggested apps in the background, allowing Microsoft to conduct experiments on your laptop, disabling automatic driver updates through Windows updates, disabling Windows 10 ads, disabling Cortana, Cloud Search etc.
3- Disabling Microsoft Edge from starting up automatically in the background upon reboot.
4- Adjusting a lot of options in PC Settings like disabling Windows Tablet Mode (you have a laptop not a tablet), disabling suggestions appearing in the start menu, disabling automatically connecting to Paid WiFi Hotspots, disabling Game DVR which reduced performance in games, and a lot more.
5- Replacing Cortana with a much better search tool that finds results instantly called Everything which finds any file you want as soon as you start typing even a few letters of its name and it doesn't even rely on the Windows Indexing Service to do this!
6- Restoring the classic Windows Photo Viewer
7- Restoring the Classic Windows 7 Start Menu
8- Removal of the new and useless 3D Objects Folder that appears when you open "Computer"
9- Completely disabling Windows Defender from its roots (including all scheduled tasks and startup files) for those who want to install their own AV. ESET NOD32 Antivirus is highly recommended if you want the utmost security with the least system performance impact.
10- Updating all drivers to the latest versions in case they weren't up to date.
11- Disabling the performance hit that is caused by the Meltdown and Spectre patches recently released by Microsoft (optional, only if you don't mind having this security vulnerability and would rather have your CPU's full performance back)
12- Overprovisioning your SSD anywhere between 10-20% depending on how much space you can spare to ensure optimal and consistent performance at all times.
13- Blocking the Google Chrome Software Reporter Tool (which causes a high system load when it is scanning files)
14- Preventing Microsoft Edge from running on startup in the background
15- Restoring the missing default power plans in Windows 10 (ie. High performance, Power saver, and adding the new Ultimate Performance Plan)
16- Creating a system restoration image using Macrium Reflect

Hi all,
I have been following this forum from afar and I have acquired the newegg model with the gtx 1070.
I am Brazilian and brought the laptop with me to my country. But I realize now that the model is extremely noisy, the fans do not turn off even when i tell it to turn off with the dragon center software. The monitor software shows 0 rpm, but I can still hear them spinning. I think it wouldn´t bother me so much if it was just an high airflow, but the sound of one of them seem a little unbalanced, I think i hear a very soft and low, but consistent, rattling.
With the laptop under stress load I get readings of 47dB with smartphone´s microphone about 25cm of the computer and 28dB while in idle.
I would not like to return the laptop because it would be very difficult to replace it now. But I wonder if I should do it. What do you think? Some advice? Do those who bought the model with the 1070 also think that the fan noise is louder than normal? I come from an acer aspire with i7-4th generation + gtx960m which is extremely quiet, i can only listen to it when under extreme load.
The computer is extremely fast, I got an improvement on the cinebench undervolting it by 0.150v, but I did not try anything else for now. I do not intend to play games so much, but instead use it with programs like 3ds Max / Revit / Lumion, etc ... those are really heavier loads and stress.
And I'm really happy to have found you all in this forum, you hardly find anything about the newegg model specifically even in MSI fóruns.
Thank you all for the great tips so far
I tried my best to record it. Maybe you guys can listen and tell me if it is oo or if I do have a fault unit in hands.
Ps.: the rattling sound is driving me crazy, it is like having a tiny mini bike motor inside the laptopLast edited: Nov 29, 2018 -

I'm wondering if buying the cooler apart and performing the trade?/change? would solve the problem.
But until the cooler arrives in Brazil, it takes 30 working days
I guess i won´t be happy till next season. hahaha...ha...ha..h -
So, Msi has responded to my "web ticket" and they say that the sound is absolutly normal. And that they couldn´t hear the rattling sound i mentioned in my video.
I can hear it most clear at 0:50 , it sounds like an old DVD drive running the disc, unbalanced and going down. It is most loud about 3.000 rpm when higher or slower than that it gets a little quieter.
Nontheless, i will put my review on it here. Hope this helps other, cause certainly didnt help me.
Purchase:
I bought it in Newegg, for 1500 dollars, and i got the model without knowing it was an exclusive of newegg, otherwise I would have run from it for all the warnings about unique units of specific stores. And yes I regret it, but I will be as fair as possible in this review.
First impressions and appearance:
At first glance the computer is more beautiful than it looks in internet photos , it is not quite stunning, but it is way more beautiful, especially when we finally get those promotional stickers from PCMag and MSI itself off of it. Maybe I'm already tired of the red and black accent for gamers computers, but it is a nice looking machine. But, netherless, enjoy the looks by far, to say that the material is a magnet of fingerprints and marks is a euphemism. Just by pointing to this thing, it will have your fingerprint on it. The strokes and lines are much more subtle and less aggressive in person than in the photos and videos as well. The red adhesive in the lid is the only poor-looking finish/choice.
Starting the machine:
When turning the machine on and after setting up the system, I noticed that the fan is loud, extremely loud in my case because the fan has a noise that sounds like a broked ball bearings, but I'll come back to that later.
The machine is fast, really fast and the only thing capable of holding it back is the tons of bloatware the MSI places. I achieved 1275 on cinebench, but did not perform gpu testing except in the applications I use, which are not common among gamers (3ds Max, Revit, Lumion, V-ray), if it helps in anything it rendered vraybenchmark in 2:16min . Some users are having better results by performing machine undervolting at -0.150v of cpu. I tested with the Intel Xtreme Utility and won about 100 points (it was 1183 before it) on Cinebenche, but I opted to leave it default so I do not have any more software loading at windows startup.
Screen:
The colors seem a bit too saturated for me, but very pretty, and the viewing angle is really impaired by the Tn panel, do not get me wrong, the screen is better than many low quality IPS panels, but still not comparable to a good IPS . If you're a gamer and you're going to play in front of this monitor, you are more than probably not going to be bothered and you'll even like this screen with the butter smooth 120hz. But if you're going to do work with photos or graphics and need to present them to your customer on that laptop, you might have to reconsider. Overall I did not got bothered or got impressed with the screen. There is no light leakage from the edges of the panel and no dead pixels have been present so far.
Storage:
My model comes with a 117GB KINGSTON RBUSNS8180S3128GJ With a benchmark on the 3534 hard drive reaching the 1279 position in the ranking for comparison purposes the Samsung 950 SSD achieves an average performance of 3x greater. Storage speeds and performance are not problematic, but cutting performance costs could have included a drive with at least 256GB, as much of the SSD is taken over by software included by MSI and its partners.
RAM memory
Memory Ram of 16Gb and speed of 2666mhz. As a content creator I aim to put 32GB on my system. But the truth is that for gamers in 2018, 16GB is more than enough RAM, the speed and performance of it are also noteworthy.
Keyboard:
Although I have not gotten used to the full keyboard what I can say is that it is not uncomfortable for a laptop, the distance between the keys is comfortable, having the wide hand I would like bigger keys instead of that keyboard are soft enough and accurate enough to compensate for this. I'm still not 100% comfortable on this keyboard, but I certainly see a difference from fewer accidental typos or typos.
Software and Free Creative Package:
Some of the included softwares are welcome for people like me who will make use of the bundled creator package, but if you are a pure gamer, you will prefer to start with a clean installation of Windows.
The creators package really surprised me, not quite an extremely professional package, but for an architect with good render needs, that will make some graphic boards for clients and presentation videos, the package is excellent and very complete. Among them only YouCast wasn´t welcome because it was just a trial. I was surprised by the options available in Corel Photopaint Pro after decades of using Photoshop and made me really consider upgrading to the new version 2019.
The Dragon Center does not come to be a horrible software, it has small flaws like not allowing the adjustment of calibrations of different colors for each monitor in use. The choice of colors of the keyboard led by the available color wheel is very bad since we do not have a fine control.
I think it's bad to have Dragon Center open to keep the hardware monitor open as well. The monitor would be a great shortcut to quick pre-settings and monitoring of them.
Hardware and help center updates should be inside the software instead making it open other panels for this.
Honestly I'm still unsure about my feelings regarding the Dragon Center.
Audio:
I come from an Acer Aspire V15 Black Edition with 4 speakers, an incredible bass and a sound that honestly owes nothing to dedicated systems. So the GP63 would have to try hard to impress me. Do not get me wrong, the sound is loud and of relatively good quality but lacking bass, what they call giant speakers seemed modest to me and in this model they come only 2 instead of the 4 described in the advertisement. At first the Nahimic software only made the sound worse, but after some driver updates the software now does its best, doing nothing and not interfering with the quality of the good speakers in the system. If you wish, you may just uninstall it with no regrets.
Ventilation and Cooling:
The cooling system designed by MSi seems incredible at first glance. It is able to maintain the gtx 1070 under acceptable temperatures and without gagging. Even under medium -for heavy - load the system showed that it performs very well among the category.
But it's noisy, extremely loud sound, and in my case, it's not just the airflow, if it were like that, it would not bother me. There is a subtle sound that resembles broken ball bearings, as in older notebook coolers. Every time I turn on the laptop and have to render something, this noise bothers me more and more to the point that I have come back to work with my old Acer at this point.
Service an MSI support:
I looked for MSI by sending this recording and asking about the normality of that sound. In the mean time, I have revamped the forums and asked everyone about tips and how to proceed since MSI does not respond me. I bought the laptop of this brand by the global guarantee in big letters of some advertisements just to arrive at my country and discover that they do not cover the guarantee here. Not only that, in a country with continental size and scales like Brazil, MSI has only 1 ONE service center, that fortunately is in my city, unfortunately they do not answer the phones and do not respond to my emails.
The Brazilian "service center" is in a far corner of the city after the peripheries in an unidentified shed with sprayed walls and a look that does not pass much confidence or credibility ...
I imagine that just replacing the CPU cooler should solve my problem, but for the time being the noise is so loud and annoying that I can not believe I paid $ 1500 for a lawnmower, a nonexistent warranty, and a service center that does not exist.
The only way to arrange the repair is by ordering the cooler from another model (GE63) on ebay, waiting 30 business days for delivery, doing the change/trade myself (which will break the factory seal and invalidate my non-existent warranty) and expect to be the same model when I open the chassis.
It seems like there's a little mouse riding a little harley bike on my $ 1500 laptop and it makes me so angry that I just turned it off and without an answer from MSI, my best bet is simply to give this computer back and wait a some more to buy from some brand that takes the support, its propragandas and promises seriously.
Conclusion:
So yeah ... DO NOT BUY this laptop unless you know exactly what you're doing and do not mind if you see yourself alone in the face of technical problems.
I have a very small professional page with no more than 5000 followers, most are architects with the same pretensions and needs I have and I really hoped to be able to do some parts and videos demonstrating the GP63 series of laptops as a great alternative to they. And now I'm going to make videos showing the tremendous fall that I took with confidence in MSI. It is a real shame.Le Quan likes this. -

Hi all I'm new. Just recieved a GP63 Leopard-428 8RF from NewEgg. I am having issues right out of the box. I'm trying to rule out what's a hardware problem vs software issue vs that's how it is, just live with it.
1. Synaptics Touchpad is unusable. Although MSI shows details about all new 8th gen i7's having TouchPad Precsison driver support I don't see it for the GP63 Leopard 428/8RF. Heck I don't see ANY MSI downloads for Leopard 428 anywhere!
GP63 Leopard 8RF is missing from Applicable Models listed.
https://www.msi.com/faq/notebook-3251
The mouse pointer will run off to the right side or up side of the screen, it freezes for a moment or several seconds, it opens, or it scales-in the screen, or it highlight things with a mind of it's own if I scroll with 2 fingers! Even with Low Sensitivity set, the touchpad often registers a gliding motion as a click grab.
So I updated my windows 10 driver:
Synaptics SMBus TouchPad
Driver Date: 8/17/2018
Driver Version: 19.5.31.11
Now the mouse pointer slows to a halt when approaching a link. You might overshoot it when trying to get over to it. My previous problems still exist too. When I try to use two finger vertical scrolling in the web browser it sometimes pages forward or backward in browser history. What's even stranger is that using an external mouse wheel now mimics paging forward/ or backward too. I understand Microsoft blocked unsupported devices from manually installing touchpad precision drivers but this problem seems pretty serious to be left as is.
2. 3 Zone RGB lighting leaves some colors on. While testing LEDs, some keys on the bottom row have 2 or more LED colors remaining on even when you switch the color in dragon center. One way to test this is to select all zones to WHITE. In my case the CTRL, ALT, Half Spacebar and numpad ENTER keys have green or blue LEDS that stay on. Choosing a different color scheme such as the 1st Scenario: Red, Green, Blue may turn off the extra LED colors for some reason. Also choosing to go all Red or all dark blue may turn off the extra colors.
3. Fan Speeds do not match. When I hit fan boost Fan 1 doesn't go over 5750 rpms in Dragon Center. Fan 2 is 6250. Yeah maybe I'm just nitpicking at this point but I wish to bench my system soon.
Sorry if this was a long post. I am hoping to get some answers from the experts here. Literally this post was retyped and it got wiped by a mouse browser glitch. Auto save draft didn't help.
This is troubleshooting a stock setup booting right out of the box. -
Here it is "Gp63 8RF 428 (IN ONLY)" model drivers link:
https://www.msi.com/Laptop/support/GP63-Leopard-8RF#down-driver&Win10 64
I hope it resolves your mouse problems.
Now that I thought about it. Have you tried disabling the windows gestures feature?
Steel Series Engine 3 software:
https://steelseries.com/engine
Maybe this is where i am nitpicking but my ocd about it and not knowing if this is normal, prevents me to fully enjoy the system) .
There is a control of the acceleration curve in the dragon center, but it is quite limited. And there are also options for you to install other more accurate control software and disable the Dragon Center once and for all.

For anyone who was curious about the performance of the newegg model.
Well, while MSI pretends not to listen to the gtx 1070 lawn mower they sent me (yeah i am a bit exaggerated), I'm going to update you with this model´s performance, which is still very good despite this inconvenience of the noise (at night I dream that silence it with a pillow. yeah, that´s my dark side)
I've recorded one with my potato tablet for you to see the performance without interference from the recording
And a second one with the windows system recording.
In the meantime, could anyone tell me the part number of the cooler fan? Or point me in the right way, because I can not find it and I wanted to leave it to disassemble the computer only if this is the last option. -
Before seeing your reply as a workaround I had downloaded an older version of the synaptics driver that includes the missing apps to adjust gesture support. For example one key program that is included is called SynMsiDApp. Windows refuses to install the older driver but I can expand the folder and install the missing apps ( Synaptics Pointing Device now shows an icon in taskbar's hidden icons). I grabbed it from the Lenovo links. This has helped make the mouse more usable, there is still some strange behavior but it's not as bad as it was before. So far I've been able to type this post up and not have to use wordpad as a go between. I would muchrather download the updates from MSI though as my hack still show the older driver number in the application with contrary to what Windows update is actually showning in the device manager.
Well in my current Windows Settings for the Mouse / Touchpad section, it is missing the windows gestures entirely. It looks different than the screenshot that was shown under the MSI link I provided earlier about every 8th i7 laptop using Precision Drivers. I guess your settings shows the check boxes for two finger swipe and beyond? I can only access that inside of the synaptics app hack which I might undo if MSI has a better driver as you say. As it stands my quick fix also got rid of many bugs like the page forward or backward browser history issue. The mouse still fly's off sometimes.

I think you can access the drivers page without registering, but if you have tried and you are not able to reach it, I could send the driver to you via Google drive or something like it.

To delete the old driver, open up the device manager, select the mouse, find the correct item, right click it, remove driver... Now, are this point, there should be a check box that reads "delete driver from computer" make sure this is checked and delete it. Try installing the new driver. If that don't do the trick, I will show you how to force the right driver to install.
If lights in keyboard keeps messing up, let's replicate the color and mode choices in steel series engine and I will upload a picture so you can see if there are differences.
Here, try this link and tell me if you get the driver.

Thanks. I was able to access the zip file directly. Trying to hit that section otherwise prompts for sign in / registration.
Removing the previous driver with delete prompts for a reboot. I tried adding via Add Legacy Hardware in Device Manager but it asks for one of 3 inf files to load from zip folder. It defaulted to SynHidiMini.inf. This creates a 2nd HID-compliant mouse device which won't work for obvious reasons. So I delete it. I went to the zip folder and right clicked each of the 3 inf files next and chose install. I rebooted the computer and it comes back up with the same driver from windows update: Driver Version: 19.5.31.11. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Gestures are not showing up in Mouse / Touchpad settings in Windows settings. Which driver is your coming up with? -

About the keyboard i have bad and good news.
The bad news is that apparently this is normal behavior in this model. And I do not know if it's by software or if it's because the keys are not lit individually lit and that's some effect of trying to mix the different shades of colors.
This one is my own when trying to simulate your colors:
https://ibb.co/rx677Yb
Those are from videos on internet, tried to capture the precise moment:
https://ibb.co/2kgb04w
https://ibb.co/Phz9J0S
We can observe that when we choose some full color, like full blue (R:0; G:0; B:255) The abnormal color just disapear
I also noticed that this pattern of behavor does not happn so often while in music (audio) mode, the colors seemed more even.
The good news ... is that apparently this is a normal behavior in this model and in all models of steel series illuminated by zones ... LOL I looked in some reviews and videos and noticed the same behavior. My bet is that these are different lights because they are in transition points, an attempt to make animations like "wave" and transition from softer and less harsh colors.
I hope this brings some peace to your mind about it. lol
