Anyone else notice in CPUZ and other programs that the RAM is only showing as 800mhz, 1600mhz effective? Is this an error due to new 11th gen or do I need to set XMP? @NuclearLizard

1600 MHz is correct in Cpu-Z memory tab. You can't run your ram 6400 MHz. Run Aida Cashe and mem benchmark.

No it's showing 800 in cpuz which is 1600 effective. Benchmarks show that I should be running 3200 CL 22 so I think it's a reporting issue with the new 11th gen. Aida won't run because it says 11th gen isn't supported

I expect you use the GE76 with 11th gen. You use latest version of Aida64?

Probably Cpu-Z that can't read it correct.

    Edit.
Tiger lake (11th gen) have been supported a long time

No even with latest AIDA 64 it doesn't not support mobile tiger lake correctly. See attached. No program out there is reading it.

Not sure, to be honest I have been a bit busy fiddling building an image to make everything work properly.

Just managed to get my thunderbolt, intel management engine and iGPU working.

Also I gotta learn the new ways of doing stuff. Lmao

Back in my day there was no secret BIOS and you had to do everything I'm apps. Roflmao

Also got quite lucky on the GPU vram with samsung. I can do +1400 (8400mhz) stable in benching and games. Crazy! Core is limited to +140 for benchmarks and +110 for gaming

I use afterburner for the GPU and bios/intel XTU for the CPU. Have to always check the GPU clocks because MSI center likes to reset them at boot or while switching fan profiles sometimes

Do you guys noticed "buzzing sound", coming from speakers (when Nvidia GPU is on) when playing something on very low volume. With Intel graphic everything is OK.

Thanx, but can you try one more time. You have to literally place ear next to laptop speaker and play video on very low volume (like 2%).

I did, held my ear right up to the speakers and keyboard area trying to find the sound. I'm very OCD about coil whine and speaker noise so I would have caught it right away.

According to Lisa from MobileTechReview, the MSI GE76 Raider (11th gen Intel) has G-SYNC with the 1080p 360Hz display in this review: . Someone asked in Youtube comments if it has G-SYNC and she responded, "The NVIDIA control panels says it is a G-Sync panel."

Can someone here confirm if G-SYNC is available in the MSI GE76 Raider (11th gen) with 1080p 360Hz?

I don't see gsync in any modes. I'm curious as well because this exact panel has gsync in other laptops like the alienware x17. I wonder if she has a different bios or something?

This is the best GPU score I can get so far, CPU is completely stock. Vram is stable so far at 8500mhz, which is incredible. Wonder how much farther it can go.

Yes and it can be overclocked 4 steps. It can do 4.6ghz all core up to 5ghz single core. Looks like intel allowed overclocking with H cpus this generation

If it weren't for being a little cash strapped I would've kept the Tiamat 11980hk/3070 (got it for $3000). It's very unique and highly performant.

Nice, yea I was thinking about letting mine ride out the order but at 6k plus duties.

I got cold feet. Especially after my current laptop stopped playing new games and just started crashing more often than not.

Also, took that 2k I saved and put it to homing a new addition to my family. Lol

Ignoring capacity, is there a big difference in speeds between 32GB HyperX HX432S20IB2K2/32 and 64GB MES4S320NF32GX2. I cannot find any real information about either other than the timings where the HyperX has slightly better CL20 vs 22 and other timings look about the same.

I will not tweak the memory settings so I will just use them stock. I'll stick with the 64Gb kit CL22 unless there would be a big enough difference in benchmarks where the 32Gb kit would be worth keeping. I'll sell whichever one I don't end up using.

How much of a real work difference would the 3080 get over a 2080 in Cyberpunk 2077?

I would bet about 30% or so FPS difference from GE75-8750h/2080 and GE76-11980hk/3080. Likely a lot more with better DLSS and raytracing if you use those. I have owned both but didn't have the 2080 anymore when CP came out.

Thanks, that's the exact model I have and was wondering if it was worth it. Currently connected to external monitor I can get 50fps at 1440p in Cyberpunk 2077 at Ultra Ray Tracing and trying to figure out if its worth upgrading. Although the new one looks much better :) What's real world battery for websurfing with that 99.9wh battery?

I can only speak from the reviews I watched. Seems like 4 hrs is realistic with some settings turned down. I read one that said 6 hrs with a bunch more turned down but I would not count on that one without some tweaking and personally I don't like to mess with all that. It's higher end hardware so it's not designed for super battery capacity.

I rarely use battery, so it's more of an on board UPS for short outages for me. A couple hours is all I really need realistically.

Truth is that the 3080 is not worth the upgrade for RTX 2080 owners. You'll get like a 20% boost vs your 2080 at stock, which is pretty laughable for the $3k you'd spend on the laptop to acquire it.

Buying it for the overall nicer laptop is one thing, but if the main goal is a significant leap over the 2080, it's not there. This shouldn't be surprising, when the mobile 3080 is a a downclocked desktop 3070, and the desktop 3070 has the same rasterization performance as the desktop 2080, while your mobile 2080 is 10-15% slower than the desktop 2080.

The CPU boost would be significant though, even just going from the 8750H to the 11800H.

I personally would hold onto the GE75 until the RTX 4000 series on the 5nm process drops, but do what makes you happy in the end.

Have you tried undervolting yet? On my current GE75 8750 undervolted usually I get 55-65 normal use and even max full load gaming with 80-90 utilization all cores it never goes above 80, I also repasted with kryonaut. Have any one had experience repasting the ge76 with that? Curious on difference in temps

Wondering if anyone could tell me what are those green pads below the NVME? are they for supporting the drive? or for cooling? are they needed or can you take them out?

I think they are primarily for cooling as most of the time there aren't any pads at all so I don't think they are needed for any sort of support. I think you can take them out, but I would leave them in personally.

My GE75 was my favorite laptop as far as performance and generally had no issues with it once I got it all setup how I wanted. I was just rock solid. I like that they are about the only laptop that I can find with decent fan controls, HP, Razer, Clevo all suck for controlling the fans from my experience. I sold mine to a friend a year ago and I think he's still using it.

I've been fighting issues with the new GE76 but I think it was from the boot SSD that it came with. It would test normal speed at times, other times I would copy a large file and it would slow to a crawl (2MB/s). Every boot it would hit 100% drive usage for 10 mins, made it completely unusable. All started when it got slow on the desktop, I noticed I had no sound and when looking in device manager it crashed hard and it was never the same after that. I ended up reinstalling Windows on the other SSD that I installed and it fixed the issue, still testing that other SSD as a secondary drive but if it ends up being bad I will replace it.

It crashed a few times more and I spent a bunch of time doing different windows checks and repairs. I'm hoping it was just a really messed up boot record or something like that and not hardware related. I still have no idea what caused that original sound issue and subsequent hard crash.
