I am running it....no issues so far....one change I noticed is that the CPU default ratio is now 20 before it was 26 I believe.

mDP is dGPU direct, if you unplug it then it should switch back to IGD. Have you tried this?

I’m running into literally your exact same situation with my gs65 9sg. I’m about to redo the paste and pads, do you recall what size pads you used throughout?

I dont have access to pressure paper, but I did notice the thermal pads that came with my unit being completely worn. Ordered some 0.5 fujipoly to help remedy the issue.

After bout 4-5 windows reinstalls i think its the latest nvidia driver......i kept updating everything before testing til i noticed that the drivers in windows update are 417.29 and those were switching fine....after reinstalling windows one last time...i went installing all apps and updates after windows updates, and did em one by one and tested with my rift s, until it just worked, this was without installing latest nvidia nor intel drivers.....just tested with 441.66 and works fine so im staying there til the next update comes along.

Sooo for your *testing* pleasure -- sorry I have been gone for so long. Work and Life issues suck sometimes. We have an 80w and a 90w but now have a 115w.. Have not tested yet but came from the 10th gen series

timeout need to test -- PCI Device ID mismatch.. interesting.

The 115w bios is a non super version?
    If it’s a 115W 2080 Max-Q, I’ll gladly flash my GPU to test.

Definitely interested, but unfortunately I cannot risk no mDP this time so no experimenting for me, my new monitor only pushes 144 via DP.

But keen on seeing the results.

    You’re having issues?
I’m on the 90w 2080MQ Bios, using mDP right now to a 34 inch curved. 144Hz and Gysync are working.

No, all good. I found and shared a 2060 90W with functional mDP.

Read the rumours of the higher wattage VBIOS one. Will just wait to see if it exists and with working mDP.

Can someone check if their right fan makes a constant low metallic hum?

I've just noticed it on my unit, sounds like low coil whine that's perpetually on and the same pitch. The left GPU fans don't make any noise like that, they just sound like normal blowing air. Only the CPU fan makes this sound.

Isn't coil whine less consistent a noise though? The noise in my case disappears when I turn off the fan in Dragon Center.

I'm assuming there's no noise like that coming from your right side fan?

    GS65 9SE Stuttering

Hoping someone can provide some help: I was playing Assassins Creed: Odyssey and everything was running great. All of a sudden the frames dropped from 80-100 to 20 and the game is unplayable. All temps for the CPU and GPU are with in the 70s range.

So I know there is no thermal throttle taking place. The laptop is not under locked and when monitoring the CPU is still reaching boosted speeds. I have reformatted, reinstalled, updated all drivers. The problem still isn’t fixed.

Now leads me to after this happening trying to play COD:MW Warzone, never had issues and the game ran smooth, since the AC: Odyssey issues Warzone has the same FPS drops and the game in unbearable. FPS normally is 100 and dropping to around 20. Here again I can’t find a fix for it.

While every other game I currently play....Valorant, CS:GO, Escape from Tarkov and others are still running great.

    System specs:

    i7-9750h
    32gb Ram 2x 16gb
2x 1TB 970 evo plus in raid 0 (have tried raid and non raid same issue)
RTX 2060 flashed to 90w bios (issues was present with 80w stock bios)

    Any help is appreciated.

After further testing my GPU temp is 72c under load in game. But when monitoring with MSI afterburner I’m also hitting temp limits and that’s throttling down my GPU. How could this be fix or do I have faulty hardware?

No it never goes above 72c yet the temp limit is being hit which throttles the GPU and gives me FPS drops

I've seen this issue before, either you have an uneven heatsink or a poor thermal paste application.

Temperature monitoring software show the average temperature, so some parts of the gpu might actually be running significantly hotter. And when the hottest point reaches some unspecified value set by nvidia the gpu will thermal throttle regardless of the average temperature.

You'll need to do a repaste, and if that doesn't work, rma the laptop for thermal issues so they replace the heatsink with a better one.

Thanks for all the info and help, I went ahead and flashed the stock 80w bios to the laptop. No stuttering in the games and no temp limit errors showing up. Will continue to test to make sure. But at this point it doesn't look like i need to repaste.

If you had this issue with the higher wattage BIOS, you MUST uninstall and reinstall the drivers or you will have weird performance issues.
I personally flash the GPu, run DDU in safe window in airplane mode, then reinstall drivers. After install, Enable WiFi and download the control center.

I had flashed and even performed a clean install of windows trying to fix the issues which would also be clean install of drivers and I always use DDU...just a weird issue I got so stock for now

Can someone with the latest BIOS/EC firmware check what their minimum active fan RPM is? I've heard updating the BIOS caused the min active RPM to rise from the ~1800s to the ~2000s, has that been fixed in the latest?

Was about to write it also. Fan noise is up and I think it is heating a little bit more. Updated BIOS/EC to latest. Also did 2004 update, unfortunately did all 3 things at same day, so cant really detect which one did the damage.

    My RPMs in idle:
    Fan 1 3200
    Fan 2 off or 3000
    Fan 3 off

Fan Speed mode set to Auto

    I even have done UV.

Do you remember what your pre-update min rpm was? I'd personally try to to downgrade the BIOs at that point if your original min rpm was <2000.

No, but it was definitely lower. Now even unplugged and on battery saver it doesn't go under 3000rpm.
