Yes, that one is it. Disable that and run the other tweaks listed and you should see some improvement in benchmark.

Real world performance won't really change though.

I have no feedback on how this affects battery life.

I had to undo my RAM overclock because I would BSOD on PlanetSide 2.

gains bout 10-12% performance overall in games ive tried so far to no real thermal hit, mine stays bout the same, just clocks are higher by a bit also max voltage dureing stress went fomr 1.038 to 1.050 thats bout it, id like ur input on what this would do to the duability of the machine itself, i reckon if we can keep it in check with thermals we should be fine, but mine during stress saw a apeak Wattag of 104w compared to 90 form before, max average is 92 vs 82 from before

So after some windows updates (1909 & .NET stuff) seems like the Realtek speaker drivers are broken for me. Can't get them to work even after clean installing. But speakers work after I uninstall the drivers, so whatever, keeping them uninstalled until there's an update on MSI's site.

Thanks for the reply. I got my G65 from GenTech and have been very happy with it so far! But this issue is persisting and now worse. Things were working when I kept Realtek uninstalled so I kept it that way. But today I saw there was a RealTek download in Windows Update which I hadn't seen before. I installed that without realizing they were even older drivers apparently: 6.0.1.8612 from 1/8/2019. And now I can't even uninstall them, as Windows automatically reinstalls those drivers upon reset. On top of that there's nothing for me to uninstall in Apps nor Programs with them, the only way I can delete the Update drivers is through hardware settings, and as I said they just reinstall automatically upon reseting.

I tried downloading your program and installing it right after uninstalling the Windows Update Realtek drivers, but it doesn't work.

My only option at this point seems to uninstall the windows updates altogether though the update manager. Those are KB4541335, KB4537572, and Feature Update to Windows 10 1909. It doesn't list the Realtek drivers under the "Uninstall an update" menu. Ugh.

@eurodj101 heat issues are solved. Opened up the laptop and vents were covered/clogged up with dust.

I repasted with Kryonaut on both GPU/CPU + swapped all pads with Artic.

Now it stays below 80 on both CPU/GPU while gaming on PlanetSide 2 and during FS with fans @150%.

You can stop the driver from applying, see below link.

And now I have no speaker audio again as of today. Literally nothing changed at all. No updates. No notification of any changes.

I did notice that my laptop wasn't connecting online for some reason, like not communicating with the wifi correctly, so I restarted. Wifi then worked, but that's when I noticed the speakers no longer working.

Really getting tired of this. Any suggestions @Kevin@GenTechPC ?

When was the last time that you did a clean install? Also, before you do that, try launch an elevated command prompt and type sfc /scannow [Enter]. Let the system scan for corrupted files.

    Hello all

My GS65 is just shy of 1 year old and my battery capacity (per a Windows battery report) has diminished from an actual full charge capacity of 81,443mWH at purchase to now just 55,039mWh with dimished real world battery life as a result. I contacted MSI and they offered me an RMA after running the battery calibration tool didn't help.

-Is this a normal deterioration of battery life for just one year of use?
-If you've done this RMA in the past is it likely I'll get a new battery?
-Although it is nice to have the RMA offer, the process is a bit of a hassle . . . do you think this RMA is "worth it"?

    Thanks,
    N123

Try doing a discharge to 20% then when the laptop is off, start charing it to max.

So it's still a Windows install issue basically. I uninstalled the realtek drivers from the hardware menu again, restart, and that fixes it. But soon after, Windows send me a notification saying I need to restart so it can install the realtek speaker drivers. It gives me no option to back out or cancel this install. Thus, whenever I restart my laptop it will screw up the speakers again with those drivers.

I did a corruption scan and it said it fixed some issues. There's a CBS log I attached, not sure if any of it is useful.

What are the recommended steps for a clean install? Order of installing drivers/when to go online/etc? If all else fails I'll do that. Thanks!

Thanks for the tip--I tried this and unfortunately my full charge capacity is still diminished as per my original post--do you think this is a faulty battery or just normal wear-and-tear for a 1 year old battery?

Which method from the guide you did? Group Policy method or registry? If you did Group Policy can you check the registry to confirm its existence?

I did the Group Policy method but I confirmed it in the registry. As I said nothing comes up under "Windows Update". But upon uninstalling the drivers, and resetting, Windows somehow automatically gets drivers ready and asks me to reset to install them, completely independent of the Windows Update setting. All I get is a notification in the notification bar asking to reset. It might be because I already "installed" that Realtek Windows Update previously, so it just has the files saved and pulls them up every time I uninstall the driver software.

Do cmd command prompt and type pnputil /enum-drivers [Enter], see if you find any Realtek-related drivers.

You can delete those by running this command below and match the inf file name
    Eg: pnputil /delete-driver oem0.inf [Enter]

I'm also using a GS75 which has much better cooling than the GS65 so temps aren't comparable at all. I've been running Liquid metal since day one as well so I've never tested temperatures with stock paste.

Once the offset is 0 either don't matter. +0 and - 0 are the same.

Just discovered another problem.... never ending saga it seems. I discovered my microphone no longer works (needed for Zoom stuff). I guess the realtek drivers were needed for that? I figured I'd reinstall the Realtek drivers directly from MSI's page. And now I'm back to neither speakers nor microphone working, joy. Any suggestions? I'm getting pretty close to just fresh installing Windows and crossing my fingers.

Edit: So I tried running Realtek install again, and it asked me to immediately restart my computer (again) without even installing anything. I restarted, and now both the speakers and mic work o_O. Whatever.

Yeah the installation process automatically uninstalls then you restart and wait a few and it installs and will reboot again. It may download the console/control panel from Microsoft Store as well. There are uninstall/cleaning methods out there but the regular ones work for on both my desktop and laptop.

Yes, Realtek driver is needed, but you don't need to use the one from MSI. You can also go with the latest version from station-drivers.

I am thinking of the gs66 2070 super as well since it is a significant boost plus some ruggedness for travels. I do need a proper euro tour machine when I can finally travel back there.

Some early results of the 2070 Super MQ variant is very disappointing (7 frames more than 2070MQ with less power consumption). Might look into the GE66 with the non MQ variant.

Ur kidding right? So its lik ewhat 15% more tha the 2060? cause the 2070 was not worth it compared to the price of the 2060 just for 5-7% more performance

Am not. The 2070 Super MaxP variant in the GE66 is an entirely different class and is better than the 2080 Super MQ.

Just the SFS version, best buy. LINK. Its the only one I would buy although the standard 2070 version for 1799 would not be a bad choice either. I was worried the SFS version linked was not going to make it to the states, so much so I emailed MSI asking if there was plans on it being available in the states. Never got the message back but a few weeks ago the bestbuy link came up so aparently bestbuy is doing us a favor and getting them. I had contacted overclockers.uk as they were selling it but the import duties on top of there 2400.00$ price, that was out of the question. Im looking for more raw power though, I want a DTR as I have yet to plunk down the big $$$ for a water cooled desktop. I want this, ( LINK) I put in a price request, some day....

Im still waiting on my Area-51m to ship, I dont think it ever is going to to be honest. I think dell is lying about there manufacturing facilties staying open, Iv been waiting for over a month though, my ship date keeps getting pushed back and now that I have to change my order for the faster memory(when you opt for the faster XMP memory from dell you have to upgrade the processor to a K processor) its going to take even longer im sure.

To top it all off im trying to get Lenovo to give me credit on there Y740 with 2070MQ as Its in the repair depot with parts unavailable. Trying to decide if I want the Thinkpad Gen4 Yoga or the Extreme 2 with oled. There thinkpad X Fold is coming this summer, which I really like so I might bypass the Oled till that comes out.

Whats so special bout the SFS? Im coming form a rtx 2060 gs65 so i need the upgrade to be worth my while..if this is the situation with the 2070 super on the gs66 i might have to look at other options..maybe the RAzer Blade or Gigabyte Aero or maybe eveneluktronics or some other off brand
