Gonna chime in even though I’m in the GS65 group.
    I had a 970 Evo 500GB and a 960 Evo 1TB. They’re fast drives.
However, I recently switched both of them out for (2) 2TB Intel 660p drives. I see and feel NO DIFFERENCE in boot and game loading speeds. The only issue I found is when I copy a lot of files/folders over to the drive. After about 50GB, the drives write speeds take a dump. If you’re constantly writing stuff over 50GB to the drive, then you’re gonna have performance issues. But if you’re just using it to play games and stuff, you’ll be fine.
I bring this up because I spent $440 USD for both drives while a 1TB Evo will set you back $250 USD.
Also, go for dual channel memory. Single channel will bottleneck your CPU performance.

    Thanks for the advise.

You have definitely answered the question for the performance drives. The only issues with the intel over the samsung is QLC I think. I don't think they are designed to perform or last as long as the Samsungs (I might be wrong).

I was told that the GS75 only supports 2 NVME drives and the 3rd slot is for a normal SATA m2 drive. Anyone played with this yet? Any recommendations for cheap large stuff to put in there?

I will probably get the intel or the samesung for game storage and then something big for photo etc..

The 2TB 660p are spec’d to last 400TBW over it’s lifetime. That’s honestly a lot. The 1TB and below are 200TBW and less which is why I went 2TB for my build.
And the GS75 has 3 M.2 slots, 2 are NVME while the 3rd is SSD.

I went with 2 860 evo 2tb drives and although they are sata and not. Nvme the transfer speeds are excellent. No performance Issues. Whatsoever.

For $300 AUD I can get a 1 TB Evo 970 plus. I might not need it, but I just spent 3k on a laptop, what is another 300! If I need more space, I will go get a 1tb 860 for the SATA slot. Is the drive that comes with it any good?

Yeah the original drive is also a Samsung nvme drive, it's fast but not as fast as a 970.
    I went for a 1TB 970Evo + a 1TB 860 Evo in Sata and kept the original 512 nvme as a Cache drive.

I ended up getting the intel 760p. I haven't seen any reviews.

It is NVME though, so should be plenty fast for what I need.

Which slot is the NVME and which is SATA? I couldn't see a label inside?

Thanks for the quick reply. So I must have put it in the correct slot, because it would only fit in 1 of them. When I look, they appeared to be keyed the same, but I must have not looked close enough.

They did look the same to me too but the one next to the speaker is the SATA one if anyone else is wondering. The two on top facing each other are the Nvme ones.

Ran firestrike test on my RTX 2060 variant GS75, now I have the proof of RTX 2060 is more powerful than the full fat GTX 1070, worth noting that my unit came with x2 8gb 2666mhz dual channel memory

No full 1070 is still better than 2060, this is stock maxq 1070 on Razer blade 15 2018, for GPU performance you should look at the graphics score CPU physical score may lower the overall score if you maybe look at full 1070 with older CPU.

Ya that is quite a bit slower than a laptop 1070 actually. Overclock and try again.

Anyone else dealing with some pretty major warping on their screen? Mine has about 1mm or 2mm gap between the base of the laptop and the screen just to the left of the middle.

Edit: @Kevin@GenTechPC -- I'm looking to return this model and maybe buy from GenTech -- any input on warping GS75 vs GS65

Have any of yall been able to run Battlefield V (promo game with purchase)? Every time I launch it, it just opens a black window then says "Not Responding". I've been troubleshooting the issue for awhile with no solution.

That can sometimes happen if you are running unstable overclocks/undervolts.

Thanks for posting this score. It made me feel better about going with the 2060 instead of the 2070 as I've been waffling back and forth between them.

I just ran this on my old, pretty much stock GS65 with 1070MQ: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/34753003. Makes the GS75 2060 look even better.

when i still had my gs75, the lid was only bowed slightly. it was actually the base that would warp in case you picked it up, placing more pressure on the left or right corner. whichever corner you put more pressure on when picking up the laptop, the opposite corner would have a gap when you closed the laptop. a light twist of the base in the opposite direction "fixed" the issue until it was picked up again without balanced force. you might not perceive the device flexing, but it does a bit, just enough that it becomes visible as a gap between the lid and based of the laptop, when the laptop is closed.

im kinda missing my gs75 right now :c was debating if i should get it back, but i told myself, only until someone else gave conclusive evidence as well as a solution to the lackluster performance of the 2070max q in the gs75. need more data :c

that said, if anyone else is willing to test this, try reinstalling msi dragon center from the one on msi's website and entering the turbo mode within the utility. post the firestrike scores before and after. i want to see what the effect is. i got a pretty big boost in performance (~5%) when i did that. im wondering if it was just the overclock (which apparently only the dragon center 2 overclock had an effect, and my afterburner overclock just made my system unstable), or if it really is something else being locked by dragon center.

mmm the fact that the razer blade 15 with rtx 2070 maxq is achieving the same performance as what reviewers are posting for the gs75 with rtx 2080 maxq...

Hey guys, have a question. I recently bought GS75 8SF, the 2070 version, with dual channel ram. Here is my 3dmark results (Full stock, not undervolted, not OC’d via MSI Dragon center) https://www.3dmark.com/fs/18671239
The result is ok, but the temps of the GPU during physics test and combined test, was scary. According to 3dmark monitoring, GPU reaches about 88-89c. Have to mention that I had run HWmonitor while did the 3dmark, and according to HWmonitor, the max GPU temp was about 69-70c, which is normal, and this is actually the temp I have while gaming.
    So what is wrong?

possibly something is wrong with your graphic's driver, try to perform a clean install, based on the result you posted, 3Dmark couldn't identified the model of your gpu which could potentially mean that something is wrong with your driver

Regarding 2080 Max-Q performance, there seems to be some weird bug in Nvidias drivers that is making the GPU perform lower than expected. To remedy the performance issues, I used DDU and nvidia driver slimmer, and only checked the items needed (everything in Core, NGX, and USB C).
A couple examples of the actual performance I’m receiving:

    Notebook Check scores
    My scores

    Division 2, Ultra Preset, 1080p
    NBC - 69 FPS
    Me - 83 FPS

Shadow of the Tomb Raider Highest Preset 1080p
    NBC - 75 FPS
    Me - 91 FPS

    Metro Exodus Ultra Preset, 1080p
    NBC - 47 FPS
    Me - 52 FPS

This is with the 80w variant in my GS65. Now, some reviewers might be getting lower scores due to single channel configs in their review units, but using driver slimmer has helped many of us in the GS65 forum regain performance that was lost. This is for all RTX cards.

I see it isn't recognising your RTX 2070 Max Q either. I wonder why it isn't recognising that GPU because it doesn't recognise mine either.

On that driver slimmer thing, is it already compatible with the new Creators drivers ? Do you know if these are as good as the normal version for gaming ?

I’m not sure, I don’t use the creator drivers but I’m pretty sure it’ll still work.
I don’t know about gaming performance either, maybe someone can chime in.

Just got my GS75 yesterday. I took it apart and upgraded it to 32GB of memory so I wouldn't have to go in again. With LM repaste and undervolt, in games I'm never getting above mid-80's for GPU temps, with average in mid- to upper-60's. This laptop is sweet! Loving it so far.

Something is off. Usually, the GPU stays in the range 65-70C (when oced). It really has no business going all the way up to mid 80s.

Edit: Please ignore post. I didn't read the quoted post completely.

Hi Team GS75, New annoyance for me.

I can't remember if it was there before, but once I've installed the SSD, I get a squeak around the right hand side (near USB ports).

I tightened it up to try and get rid of it, but no luck. It is annoying!!

    Anyone else got this experience?

During Battlefield V session, I'm getting around maximum degree Celsius at 3.5ghz (-0.135mv), GPU at maximum of 77 degree Celsius with overclocking with afterburner (+100mhz core / +200 mhz memory clock) , Ambient temperature at around 26-27 degree Celsius

No worries. I hope you're enjoying yours! I'm so glad my wife convinced me to go with the GS75. I went back and forth a lot between that and the GS65, which I think is also an awesome laptop. But I'm really enjoying the 17" screen in such a thin and light body.

Sorry, I mean 85 degree max on CPU after undervolting, as for GPU, im not doing any undervolting, everything stick to stock, I gotta say the thermal performance is very good considering the thin chasis

hahaha sorry man! We had an emergency and I have been basically working monday-sunday from 8am to 8pm. Going/returning from site is a 1.5 hour drive so I end up so beat up and tired, and I havent even picked up my machine yet!

But works is almost done, and I can finally see the light. And I am getting curious to try this new sexy machine.

Yeah, I have a slight creak on the right hand side under the ports when I pick it up there. Feels sturdy enough that it doesn't bother me much personally but for this much I can see wanting to have this thing feel really solid all the way around. In general I'd have made all of the aluminum parts just a bit thicker to firm the laptop up.

Okay, after having this for almost a week, almost everything is working fine with the exception of the battery. For some reason it says it's plugged in but also says "not charging". I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling battery drivers but it doesn't help. My next step will be to take the bottom off again and disconnect the battery from the motherboard and reconnect (maybe it's not seated well?). If that doesn't work I'm afraid I have some sort of battery power issue. Power brick works fine but I want to be able to carry this around without the adapter sometimes for light work. Anyone else had issues like this before?

Check your dragon center setting, make sure the battery health option set to 'Best for Mobility', I am very sure this is the reason behind the issue

Got my 2060 model with 2x8gb ram and Kryonaut repaste on CPU and GPU a few days ago and have been playing around with light optimization.

Here are my Cinebench R15 results after a -165 mV undervolt of CPU core and cache, and a -82 mV undervolt of the integrated graphics (used ThrottleStop):

    Score: 1247

    Max temperature: 76C

Very happy with this, haven’t tried any games yet though. Speaking of which, I’ve 3 questions:

    1. How do I claim my free game that comes with the RTX card?

    2. My keyboard backlighting is acting up, I’m stuck on Aqua and no matter what I change in the SteelSeries Engine 3, it stays Aqua. I can’t even disable it, what should I do?

    3. When I plug in the power cord, it tells me “plugged in but not charging”. Does anyone else have this, or know how to fix it without disconnecting the battery?

As far as the battery have you checked your Dragon centre settings?

Best for battery will stop it charging to 100% You want best for mobility if you want to fully charge it.

To claim your free game you should open Geforce Experience make sure you are signed in, hit the drop down box in the top right where your username is and hit redeem.

You should get a code from the place you bought the laptop from, in an email if online or on the receipt if you bought in store.

Okay, I didn't think to check in Dragon Center and that was the problem. I guess I need to spend some time getting familiar with what's in there. Thank you!
