This thread is all about taking, MSI laptops/DTRs, and unleashing their massive overclocking potential. This is a Overclocker's Lounge, so some of the information contained within is not for the average user. Proceed with caution on any and all OC's. I have created a leaderboard with various levels of GPU's/CPU's benchmark scores. Post your scores with @Rage Set so I can verify them and add them. Only the top scores will be shown.

Unfortunately my BIOS is lucked so i can't push my baby to the limit. I've tried more test but this is the highest i can possibly go without OC'Ing my CPU so that's it for me (For now)

 

I just hit #1 in Firestrike for my system class (i5-6600K+GTX 1070N). Of course this pales in comparison to 6700K and 7700K systems. Still, I'm quite pleased. Now to push past 4.4 GHz...

Good Job ... i did few runs but i cannot score that much in the graphics test
It seems the maximum for the core is 265... still not have determined the memory max (mine runs at +280 but still lower score)

Has anyone tried modding the shunt resistors to raise the TDP cap? With the current TDP cap, the 1070N throttles way too soon, even though temps are fine.

 

No one tried that on this machine but Meaker from Clevo forums did a successful hard mod on his P870DM3.

Don't worry about the "locked" GPU at this point. There are ways to get around limitations.

I actually ordered 7700k from ebay (310$ including delivery), but will install, delid and insert die guard mid march. Now no CPU delid just LM (TGC) straight on CPU and GPU.
This SVET BIOS is awesome ... I still have not found a stable BCLK overclock

Bring it on I am still to test the latest NVIDIA drivers...
I was experiencing some glitches in 3dMark 2011 http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/11968530 (observe the low physics/combined scores)
But most of the time the combine test will fail with some stupid error that "focus lost" or something like this. (tried default clocks + no programs running in the background, no monitoring software... same thing) I don't even remember how i was able to make a couple of successful runs.

I see my Timespy is low as well will re-test that too

P.S. HAHAHAHA Just observed you are just 1 point short for total FS score

 

Actually I was having a lot of trouble with 3dmark11 as well, but it seems to be a lot better now, I'm not sure why. Firestrike is still pretty bothersome, I get a lot of 'user cancelled' errors - I think it's worse if the ambient temperature is higher although the card never seems to go above the high 50's.

I see that Lanelink is well ahead of us on Firestrike scores, I wonder if (s)he's got a modded card? I don't think there's any way my card is going to clock that high...

Good job button22 ... It seems the new nVidia driver does not work for me ... I get far lower scores now <16000 and will have either a low GPU and/or CPU score ... but beware i tested my CPU @4.8 15200+ score
Damn you ...maybe i am going to install windows 7 tomorrow just for the sake of it (windows10 now)
All my scores are really low ... Cinebench, 3dMark11, FS, TimeSpy.
In Cinebench ... no matter if it is stock @4.0 or @4.8 my score will be ~930-950 and it will TDP throttle according to ThrottleStop. There is something fishy here...

Have you updated the vBios?
What system bios are you using? I use 309 unlocked by Svet.
What OS?

 

I'm on everything the latest version ( windows 10, latest drivers, updated vbios). I do have an unlocked bios from svet but I've only used it to disable RSR which was giving me a lot of problems. I'm actually not overclocking much on my gpu ( +240, +320 ) as it falls over if I go higher - but I've read about issues with power limiting on these cards so possibly having to run a lower overclock is actually helping by avoiding the power limit. My cpu is at 47x with +30mv and the cache also at 47x with -20mv. I've been making sure to start benchmark runs from as cool as possible - I've done a repaste but not a delid, and I've been hitting the high 80's or occasionally 90 on benchmarks without triggering tdp limiting ( but I do get the edp other flag on limit reasons in TS sometimes but I think having bdprochot ticked can help with this). It won't go to 48x without crashing.

I get the feeling that for me temperature is the key so keeping the voltages low and starting runs as cool as possible has definitely helped. Having said all the above I'm only a beginner ( I've never overclocked anything before this laptop and have gleaned everything from the threads and all the amazing contributors here) so have no idea whether any of the above is valid or of any help! Anyway it's nice to have the top spot for a while although I'm sure it won't last long

 

We all started fresh when OC'ing. Keep absorbing as much information as possible. There are always new tricks/tips out there to squeeze the most performance you can out of your hardware, some of which you can actually use outside of OC'ing. The most important thing is to have fun and keep pushing the limits.

 

I've got a low bar to beat ("Your score could be here"), so this a good time put up some scores for the 1080

(I have the EVOC 16L-G-1080)

Getting close fellas, cant seem to push my 1070 over 225 core / 330 mem, which is unfortunate considering it maxed out at 60 degrees during this run, so much potential. My 7700K on the other hand doing quite well had it running at 4.9 with no manual overvolt. Svet unlocked bios by the way.

Keep trying ... try higher core/lower memory. Mine goes up to +265/280
Last time i ran Firestrike ... i maxed out the GPU on 47C ... soo beat that Will have to run it again just to show you the thermal graphs because i know you won't believe me (room temp 18-20C, no bottom cover, max fans, TGC on GPU die)

 

I'll give that a shot later today. Holy hell I gotta see that, what was it clocked at? Damn impressive though. I actually just got my CLU so I may try a repaste on the GPU as well with with. Good job though man

 

Was trying to beat button22 so +265/280 Will run the test again today if i have the time.

That's a decent score for 4.4. Physics score should bump up quite a bit when you get it unlocked and that should move you up a couple notches, good work man. I'll be sitting down tomorrow to push my machine further, been successful at 4.9 on the 7700k so if I can push my 1070 further beware

Getting closer, just can't seem to get my 1070 to go any further. This test had my 1070 drawing 119.85 watts haha, so not much more headroom to work with. 230/320. I can even clock a little higher at 336/320 but I must hit a power limit because I get lower results

Tried multiple variations of higher core and lower memory but they all yielded sub 16000 results, congrats on taking the lead though. However I mean, as of writing this I am number 1 on 3dmark for 1070/7700K combo...by 5 points haha

 

Nice have you had a go at timespy and 3dmark 11? Looks like it's time to get a de-lid tool and try and regain my spot. I was running much higher temps than that, up in the 70's.
