    1) It can, but mine isn't although I do have 2x 256GB Nvme drives.
    2) Probably not. I don't see much difference.
My main boot drive is a Samsung SM961, so I use the Samsung 3.0 Driver.

Thanks! Quick question - anything useful that IRST provides here apart from driver? UI doesn't even seems to recognize drive in this setup.

So, GE63/73 owners, Be careful with your laptop hinges. Mine broke in left side after 7 months of use. I seldom open/close my laptop, just twice a day.
I spoke with the MSI service centre and they said they will repair it for free.

Hi Guys, do you have any ideas on how to edit temperature limit and power limit in MSI Afterburner? And also the fan speed?

FYI, to prolong the life of hinges, it's recommended to open the screen lid from the center instead of a corner. The evenly spread of force will help to reduce wear and tear on one side of hinge.

Probably why they're fixing for free. Just to be safe, also hold down the center of the laptop to the surface as well. Torsion can come from above or below.

There are photos of the laptop with the back casing off. Disassembly for repasting is simple and very easy for this laptop. You can access everything immediately and the bottom case comes right off, just use a guitar pick or something to wedge in somewhere and carefully unsnap the cover. Then just finds all the screws holding down the fans and heatsink, remove, clean with high % rubbing alcohol from the die and the heatsink, apply a small dot of paste onto the dies, realign the heatsink before dropping it back on. Don't press it down, just let the screws apply the pressure.

Just wanted to pop in and mention that I struggled a lot choosing between MSI Raider laptops and Sager. At the time, 8th Gen CPUs were only available in Sagers and so that was the deciding factor for me.
I don't think you can edit temp limit, but you can undervolt the GPU by holding Ctrl + F while MSI AB is running.

Is your BIOS & EC up-to-date? If yes, perhaps it's a glitch with keyboard firmware, or EC firmware. Please submit bug report to MSI support.

Go to https://www.msi.com/index.php, search for the model of your system, and you will find downloads under support section.
Get the BIOS & EC firmware, there are instructions in PDF that you can follow to proceed with updates.

Does anyone with the N156HHE-GA1 15in 120hz 3ms display notice inverse colored ghosting on light grayish colors? Does the Gamer mode in MSI True Color do anything to help with that? I can't install it on mine to see. I just put this display in my AW15r3, and I noticed it last night. I'm wondering if it would be a general characteristic of the display or if it is specific to mine. It isn't a ton of blur, but the fact that it is the opposite color makes it stand out a little bit when scrolling.

I haven't heard of this particular issue. But yes, I would suggest trying the MSI true color. Please give us an update if that works. I am very interested.

I tried to install it, but unfortunately it doesn't install since my laptop isn't MSI. The blur doesn't show up in pictures very well, and it's not even very noticeable to the eye except in very specific circumstances. I've attached the best image I could get (red ghost on a cyan square).

Doesn't really impact my enjoyment of it, I would just feel more at ease knowing if it is normal or not.

When you do stress test using Prime95/Furmark, you aren't going to see the real life performance such as running a game you usually play. The max temp the system can hit is 90C, so when the system reaches 90C it will throttle down the CPU/GPU which then slows down their performance. When temperature drops again, then performance will be restored until the temperature hits 90C again, and repeat the same cycle.
Most likely, you can find a sweet spot for good performance with reasonable graphical/visual quality with proper settings.

    Hi guys,

I'm having nightmares after the windows 10 update to the 1803 version...I just CANT get the Killer 1535 to work with it...none drivers are working for me, it really stopped work after this update...the Killer Networking support has given at least 15 different trials and things to get it to work, even opening the entire notebook to "reseat" the adapter...NOTHING seems to put this troublemaker to work....

I'm losing my head here for about weeks...

    What I did so far:
    1) Updated the BIOS and firmware
    2) Updated the chipset drivers
    3) Installed/Unistalled and reinstalled the killer network drivers at least 30 times (not kidding) with different versions (1016, 1023 and last 1030)
    4) CMOS reset
    5) Killer networking support claimed that there were some "ghost" adapters in my computer, but unfortunately they seem to be a legend more than a "ghost" as there was nothing strange shown in the Hidden Devices or even using some commands on the prompt to do so, no "ghost" adapters could be found
    6) "Reseat" the adapter
    7) Pray before I lose my mind and throw this "thing" away and get an intel standard non gamer but no-troubles wifi adapter

Could anybody give me a hand here???

I got rid of my Killer WiFi card back in October, but I never had problems. My suggestion, just get a new WiFi card. I got the Intel 8265, here is US Amazon product page for reference. As for what you did so far, that's pretty exhaustive. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MZA1AB2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    p.s. godspeed

Uninstall everything from Killer. Try instead Driver INF Package for device manager installation. You find it on Killers site.

Installed latest patches from Win Update for this piece of trash? Seems important due this unfinished buggy new OS version.

Hey guys, got a problem with the backlight of the keyboard. Got none of the lights on, changing using the button doesn't turn it on, nor does changing it from the steelseries app. The function key does light up all the function buttons, but thats it. I'm guessing it may be a driver or software related. Any ideas?

    hey guys,

thinking of buying the GE73VR Raider - 256. it is 120 Hz without g-sync of course, 16 gb RAM, and a 1070.

I was wondering if anyone has had any screen tearing problems with this? I saw this had no g-sync and was wondering if the g- sync would even matter on this!

    Thanks

Anyone have issues with running the laptop at max power on battery? I cant get my power settings to take which leads to massive declines in performance when running on battery versus wall outlet. I'm thinking the dragon software is overriding my windows power performance settings on battery, as well as my nvidia settings in control panel. Before I delete dragon center since I do like using the remote monitoring, any other thoughts? Still have 2 months on the warranty

And what did you expect of performance on battery? 100w graphics and up to +50w on Cpu. And I haven’t talked about rest of the system. Please re-read battery specs.

I vaguely recall Dragon Center messing with my power settings. But you're only going to get like ~30-50 minutes of full/regular power consumption of game play anyway.

It's not a massive problem, but then every brand has the same issue, and then if a model is being sold a lot then there's a higher odd of it being reported of having issues.

    I just ordered the GE73 Raider 8RF with the 8750H / GTX 1070 configuration.

Anything special I should do at first? What to look out for etc.

I will be replacing the 1TB HDD for an SSD drive + adding a 970 Pro PCIE NVME drive.

Well that was disappointing, booted it up, installed aida, hwinfo, unigine but once 3 programs were running (NOT stress testing mind you, cpu util 10% RAM 2gb/16gb) the computer kept freezing when trying to move windows and so on. Like 5-10 second freezes. This when not connected to the internet even.

Anyway, it was too big also for me, I had underestimated the size.

Might've been that Nvidia Optimus stutter bug. People here use certain methods or programs to keep the dGPU constantly pinged to prevent that. MSI just released a new badass thin and light gaming laptop, GS65 Stealth. Don't know if it uses Optimus and thus possibly have the infamous stutter bug.

    The GS65 uses Optimus yeah.

Also it was disappointing to see the laptop throttle to 3.1ghz when loaded with AIDA64 stress test + unigine heaven. For the price (2200€) I felt it wasn't worth it.
