ALSO - is there "THUNDERBOLT 3" support on windows 7 ?

For anyone who knows what that is, it's one of the main big attractions of this laptop, IMO.
(Or rather laptops in general these days..)

Naw it's not done on purpose. 100% sure it's a mistake, it's rather small too. But - just showing I'm taking a rather very deep look into this laptop and finding everything.... :p

And most likely never will own / purchase a new one  Old good times are over bro. I think You remember Dellienware advertised a new AW 18 with 4790K... Was it a typo or was it done with purpose? :D

I was in shock excitement when I saw that.... turned out to be not even available, but people say they placed orders for it. That was horrible. They would have had so much more going for them if they went with that... Imagine they re-release the AW18 with an R2 and it comes with the new 7700K or something ?

Sounds as rather unlikely. Dellienware with Mr. azor in front has turned completely around. If this had been likely... Crippled bios / Ec. With a power cap on top!! Impossible to unlock a fully locked firmware. Is this what the power enthusiasts want? I don't think so

I think it became a little too hot for him  Aka @Alienware-Frank
All he talk about now is portability, battery, The GA and thin, thinner and thinnest possible gaming laptops. He forgets what the hardcore power enthusiasts want. We aren't his target!!

If you remove the HD and WIFI card (when ordering) you can get it close to $1500. I think you can request not to have RAM as well.

So I got my Eurocom last night and was only able to play around with it for a couple hours. While running prime95, I noticed a very faint grinding noise coming from the fans.. its weird, it's kinda like a hdd constantly spinning (I have an ssd) or like if a string were caught in a spinning fan or something, can't exactly describe it but I hear it when it's relatively quiet around me. Did any of you guys experience that? I didn't have a chance to look at the fans closely yet, I'll do that later tonight hopefully. I'm gonna need a repaste anyway, I hit 94c on stock settings in prime.

What specs have you got? I didn't think that the temps would be that high, especially with a laptop of this thickness.

To keep up thier profits with investors they can not waste money on innovation, RnD and support - because INTEL is providing the training for thier support right now (We all know how horrible an INTEL seminar is right ?)
It's about money, plain and simple. If in an agreement with INTEL, intel provides the designs for thier motherboards and components then DELL has much less work to do. They just keep recycling the age only design that they got when they purchased Alienware - which was probably thier reason for acquiring it.

I have the 6700k and 1070 w/ a main 500gb 850 evo m.2 and 1tb evo 850 ssd. I'm a little surprised myself at the temps too. Maybe something with the fans? I'll know more after a repaste.

I think I know what you are talking about? Starting at extremely low RPM, you can hear very faint "clicking" as the fans engage, but goes away as the fans ramp up. The solution I found was to set the idle fan speed to ~10%, which for me got rid of the noise, but is still virtually silent.

A repaste will help. The biggest factor is an undervolt and adjusting the fan curve. The default fan curve was optimized for a 6700HQ, so you need to compensate for the extra TDP from the 6700K.

well, what alternative models of fans are there ? I ask this, because I found the MSI Titan's battery inside, maybe there are better fans too.

Looking at the fans they do not (unlike say, Alienware) show the CFM rating.

Guess I will do it right now then, why not right ?

Here : first remove these screws from the back :

    then :

in the first pic I might have missed a screw where there is the battery just be careful..:

then disconnect wires and take notice of two things : 1 theres a wire underneath/flat cable from the right hand side, AND then thing at the top right (middle top) is a bridge, it will have resistance but carefully full the motherboard out of it.

    the cable underneath : [IMG]

    Then just:

flip it carefully, and you have full access. No point in going further, install your RAM and reverse.

here is something I notice which you do not see, and was NOT advertised : a BIOS reset button

it's actually a very high quality button too, not some cheap crap. To access it, it's this little pin hole on the bottom of the casing. Would never have noticed it.

Does anyone know how to get the Windows 7 installer to recognize any Flash Drives? Apparently I can boot the Windows 7 installer from my bootable SanDisk USB, but it can't read an identical SanDisk USB for some reason and I tried using different ports. How am I supposed to get the drivers in when they're mostly for windows 10 and the installer can't even read the USB when I go to browse for it?

I have the boot option on Legacy Mode and the other two options are UEFI and UEFI with CMS.
I left the SATA mode on ACHI, because the other one is RAID. That's all I have to mess with in the BIOS for now. The Windows 7 installer doesn't recognize my USBs at all and the HDD only has a boot partition in it for now.

IIRC, even a freshly installed Windows 7 should have USB 2.0 functionality, a driver shouldn't be necessary to recognize your flash drive. Try a different USB.

As for the drivers, unfortunately Eurocom has not updated their product page with Win 7/8 drivers yet. Some of the Win 10 ones might be backwards compatible. If not, you'll have to rely on Windows Update to get the generic drivers for you.

Are you trying to install drivers while still in the windows installer? At least that's what it sounds like to me. You would need to at least have windows installed on the hard drive before inputting the extra USB.

yes, and no... you could remove the panel and just insert a pin in this one little spot OR drill a hole in the panel where this little spot it, and never have to remove it !

After repasting twice with kryonaut and inspecting the fans, I couldn't find the source of the noise. It's actually more like a very faint rattle now that I listen to it more. Like its coming from the corner vent near the power button. It doesn't necessarily go away when the fans ramp up, it just sorta gets drowned out by the noise. Maybe I'm just a little paranoid? I mean this is the first time having a laptop with this kind of horsepower

Just install windows 7 on the hard drive first. Then once you're done with that and get onto the desktop, you can install any needed drivers for it.

The Tornado F5 price was adjusted slightly. Previously, the default configuration included the Killer wifi card, but gave you the option to downgrade to the Realtek wifi card, reducing the base price a bit ($1666 - $42). Now, the Realtek card is selected by default without any option to downgrade, while the base price remained same ($1666). The laptop still has great price to performance... I just happened to notice this small change :)

I noticed this last week as well. I was one that opted for that crap Realtek card and it is total crap. It saved me $42 off my build since I already had the Intel 8260 sitting around spare. I definitely think the price/configure adjustment is weird and I would email them to remove that card entirely and buy one on Amazon or eBay. Glad I got in early.

I've reported the same in GT62VR thread.either find the RPM where the fans are still silent and rattle is gone or get used to it.Or you can buy the new fan and give it a shot.Imho it is generic for all these fans and we ,the most sensitive ones, :) need to accept this natural behaviour.

Hmm, i'll have to disagree with you on needing to remove anything to access the BIOS reset button.. There's clearly a pin hole in place for a paper clip to hit the button.

Lol, your machine is a beast.. but i'm not going to be on a overclocking quest anytime soon.. I can get down to like 150~ seconds with 4.2ghz on all cores.. But haven't overclocked more than that yet.
