In "overclocker lounge" but we're not in OC lounge here. If someone a little less electronics enthousiast come here see your result, think it's the norm and buy one from Eurocom , launch a game and get 80c they'll be scared as ****.
I was with wood yesterday and after we repasted everything and tested the temps first thing I said was "but this guy on the forum get 20c at idle and i get 40-50" and i had to be remembered that you had done ur test in the basement with crazy low temps.

Anyway I understand that you're an OC enthusiast but posting those result here are miss leading imo ... my 2 cents

Don't add me to your ignore list, we can all play along nicely, let me be the first to apologise " I am truly sorry, my friend, if I offended you, sincerely - James".

I just want to know what your up to, because your scores are very high, your methods not entirely known, and what or why your posting what you are is uncertain. If I had not known better, I might quickly think your scores and results your posting are typical and easily obtained out of the box, and yet no one here has those stock.

SO, in an effort to sway people from being disgruntled, I want it to be clear what the situation is. Imagine your a customer, paid top dollar, get this laptop from where ever and then it's a piece of junk in comparison, and you were all but "guaranteed" by the "sales team" that it would be great, and you can check out bench marks online etc... and you find the bench marks your posting, out of context, and breaking expectations.

This is why many of posted so many stock bench marks, or like very reasonable benches, to compare our hardware. Dozen's of people do not send you emails saying " My laptop is broken, it's only getting 19,000 on the GPU score in firestrike.. this other guy at stock easily gets 21,000 and I have the same driver he linked and same settings.."

It's not that I myself get many of this, but I can tell you there are people, that truly are affected in this way. I swear it !

    So, TL :DR

I am sorry, I just want your intentions and abit more information known when you post your benches, if it's not obvious or stock. If it's 100% stock, no need, that is like saying an OOBE.. which is good for people to see/know.

@woodzstack wow that is enlightening.... so I guess the socketed components in the MSI are meant to be good for maintenance but no so much for upgrade. So much for the elusive "future proof" laptop ...

Is thee any technical advance in this card are is it just shuffling components around?

right, as an example, the score I listed for my benches were not OC'd, though i had some OC'd ones for the CPU, we're talking like 4.5Ghz on the CPU and on battery everything stock, no crazy winter in the house or special bios or extra power/clocks on the CPU or GPU. I literally used the automatic voltage and common settings anyone could use.

This is to help keep expectations realistic, they DID however show this is in fact a crazy laptop, I do expect the OCers in the other threads have some crazy examples to show us...

I'll show you tomorrow, stock speed and stock voltage. No delid, no LM. My average temp is still in the 30's. Those are my normal temps. Are you going be angry that I still have lower temps than you?

@woodzstack is being a great dude and sending me extra thermal pads to replace the one I accidentally ripped.

    @Rage Set

It is an achievement to do stuff like that but I would clearly state the OC conditions and state its not for everyday use. Dont get me wrong, I am familiar with the LN2/DICE etc scene on desktop but people understand those are extreme scenarios. I seen the both side of that argument but I think we can all be nice to each other.

Yeah, I can;t get my head around it.. I assume MSI either fell into line because of NVidia pressure or maybe they were afraid of hurting desktop sales. Any large and sufficient enough company only does soemthing because they intend to reel in greater profits.

If it is not conducive to sales/more money, they would scrap it.

things I see affecting money on this laptop :

    Poor QA/ assembly
    Customer service cost too great
    warranty/risk-repair too great
future proofing + addressing misconceptions and misunderstandings...
Research and development for the new bios/UEFI/G-Sync + Pascal too time consuming time=money
Damage to the brand, based on earlier promises (They promised you would be able to use Pascal in the Maxwel laptops but then ... they guaranteed future proofing, but it didn't work out. Now there is proof they are working AGAINST future proofing..)
theres more... feel free to add your own.

Not true, we value you and your posts completely ! We just wanted to know more, and have it in context, don't be all dramatic about it either, I said I'm sorry for offending you and I meant it, it's honestly was not my intention. I get defensive of the impression given sometimes or what a laptop or videocard or CPU can do if it is a bit misleading. We get all this confusing information all over the net, NBR is all about sticking it straight to facts and doing the best damn job of it anywhere on the net, without being overly biased like some websites might be.

I think its part of healthy human behavior to try and push beyond our limits. This machine is uses an unlocked desktop processor along with a top of the line graphics card so it shouldn't be surprising if people want to find out how it performs at its limits.

That being said, the posts about overclocking should not be misleading so if you see something that looks like it is, just try asking the original poster to modify their post for clarity, or report it and a moderator can take a look at it. If the overclocking posts start to make it hard to ask general questions about the machine, maybe we can consider opening an OC Lounge thread for this model?

I don't think you guys need a seperate overclocking lounge for this laptop: it's supposed to be OC'd due to unlocked K CPU, and in all owners lounge forums I've seen there's never been anything wrong with discussing & showing overclock results, in fact it's a bonus to enlighten 'casuals' who find this thread. I agree that overclock posts should clearly explain that they're showing overclocked results & if possible explain the extreme conditions that were required to get there so people don't wreck their laptops trying to meet their scores and to put the scores into a practical perspective (e.g. it's not 24/7 practical to use your laptop in say 0 degC garage!). I think some of the outrage at Rage Set's posts were a bit over the top, keep the overclocking discussion going on in this lounge I say.

...but based on what I have seen from you and others about the Tornado F5 ... well I may not be a BGA owner for much longer. That is one very nicely done machine! =D

    @Rage Set - I agree with @woodzstack .

If anything, sitting in an extreme cold environment risking hypothermia to get improved OC numbers is a sign of serious committment to the art of OCing. As you said, it is up there with risking destroying an expensive laptop by using liquid metal for a few degrees lower temp! =)

Agreed, I think opening a new overclocking thread is probably the best course of action. Don't get me wrong, I DO enjoy seeing overclocking scores. It is absolutely crazy how much overclocking is even possible in this 15.6" monster :D. However, admittedly it can be a hot topic that generates a lot of posts. This can unintentionally burying posts from other members, or unintentionally misleading others to believe these extreme overclocking results are the norm. Overclocking discussion is, of course, completely valid and relevant information to this notebook, but I think separating the two different types of discussion is probably for the best. Not to mention, there is supposed to be an overclocking competition with the Tornado F5, which I am sure will generate pages and pages of posts full of excitement :D.

I respectfully disagree, and I think you said part of the reason yourself. Extreme conditions are utilized simply to push the system to its limits, but are obviously not practical for the majority of people. Regulars at NBR will be able to pick up what is going on, and are able to distinguish what is for extreme overclocking, and what is for everyday usage. However, someone who stumbles upon this thread may not know that extreme results are a product of extreme conditions. Thus, you would have to reiterate yourself on the overclocking method on every single page, in order to prevent unfamiliar people from interpreting these results as the norm. This can get tiresome.

On the flip side, if we have a dedicated overclocking thread, everyone there is already " on the same page", thus you can simply post results, and updated benchmark scores without having to reiterate the method every time.

In short, I think this thread has two lines of discussion:
    1. Tweaking for everyday use, gaming, productivity, etc.
    2. Extreme overclocking, and pushing the system to the limit, using whatever advantage you can

In order to prevent confusion and to maintain efficient discussion, these two lines of thought should have their own dedicated place to grow.

I also highly appreciate what @woodzstack brings to the "discussion table", so to speak. He is very transparent with what he does in a good way, and I think seeing a glimpse of the notebook from the prospective of a vendor is very interesting. I think what has happened is that the two lines of discussion in this thread (daily usage, and extreme overclocking) has finally clashed, but I do think we can very much co-exist in a civil manner :p

It's important to show serious OC'ing results in the thread. If people - owners of the machine don't understand the bench results... They can only ask!! Why make it so complicated? :)

I agree, doesn't need to be made complicated. Can stay in this thread I would say. When presenting any overclock results it always makes sense to state the conditions, regardless of how extreme or non-extreme, e.g. simple short bullet points:
    -room temp approx 20 degC
    -delid/CLU

Nice job! Great to see a Tornado F5 dominating the 15-inch notebook realm. Keep up the good work. We will see more from this little beast than some are expecting from such a small monsterbook.

Benching in the garage in cold weather is no different than using AC cooling for a laptop, or chilled liquid cooling on a desktop. People that don't understand this should pay more attention. It's way too much fun. I've been doing this kind of thing for years. There's not a thing in the world wrong about it.

A screen shot and validation link stands on its own. Sometimes sharing all of one's secret's is not the smartest thing to do. I share more than I should sometimes because I like to help, but it's always nice to have a trick or two up the sleeve to stay on top of the game.

Totally agree. The primary reason I would want a Tornado F5 is for extreme overclocking in a smaller package. Disposable BGA turdbooks that don't overclock worth a hoot are growing on trees now... we are overrun by BGA filth and it's awesome to see a little bruiser like this kicking ass and taking names, LOL. I'm sure brother @Johnksss@iBUYPOWER is going to enjoy seeing @Rage Set and his overclocking wizardry when we launch the Tornado F5 overclocking competition as much as I will.

It's a free world, anyone can post what they want. I only wish it was clear, because I have tons of people asking me about a new unlocked bios or how someone else did what they did, and then they go to link a post in this thread, or youtube, and then go on to explain how they did thier best - have the fans on max, and everything running best clocks they can but can't get that close to the same scores.
With missing temperatures, or the fact someone is using a different bios that is not available, and has other things working for thier benifit, in the same thread buyers are asking questions about this laptop - it becomes increasingly difficult and time consuming for the average user to figure this all out.

On a sales page, for a laptop, it would be considered misleading to have scores for benches caused by unreproducible measures. For many people this thread is that, it is a place to find detailed information for considering buying this laptop or trouble shooting. So it would just be good to now - or state - that in such a thread, without giving away your secrets - at least state you have tricks up your sleeve or something equivalent, whats the term or word to use... wtvr you get what I mean I'm sure.
Clearly I am not the one who cares here, how it affects me, or I'd be chasing numbers myself, I'm not the average user, even if I don't OC everything everyday all the time. Like it's much easier to get a 6Ghz stable OC when you disable all the cores. But you wouldn't go stating to everyone it's full load fully clocked to 6Ghz and prove it with a CPU-Z showing the clock speed.. leaving out that its a single core, on a say IDK, a i7-6900K. Maybe once...but 2 or 3 times and constantly leaving out the important context, is misleading. When it falls outside the normally to be expected behavior and there are no reason or signs given as to why or whats been done, you;d simply assume everything is stock or unmodified, unless you knew better from experience. I will tell you this, from experience, and knowing better, i don;t look at peoples scores or benches. They are not soemthing I measure my performance by. I measure my performance by what I've already experienced.... after all. So, the people looking for these scores, if you adopt that mindset, are people who want to compare, want to learn, want that info. benching for numbers chasing competitively though that's different. in every section we have threads for benches. This is not that thread though. (or are they always the same thread ? I could be wrong, I'm just assuming, no offense anyone okay?)

If there is not a Tornado F5 Overclocking Thread, there should be one. Not that results should not be shared in other threads, but it's nice to have a go-to thread when you are interested in that. It's also convenient to find lots of benchmark results in a designated spot so you do not have to sift through hundreds of posts to find them.

A owners thread should - must have serious OC results from the machine. If this is difficult to explain people, new owners or possible buyers... Put into post 1 that high benchmarks is done by oc'd hardware. Not all can be on top with best bench results and this should be obviously for most of people who looking for info. People who seeking info about the particular machine want also to see what the machine can do under the right conditions. Ok with a Oc thread, but let people have the possibility to see nice results here as well.

Does somebody has some detailed pictures from the laptop itself? Like the casing, screen fitment, lit, underside laptop, keyboard?

Trying to understand how strong the laptop itself is. I'm used to grap my laptop one hand with presure on the underside. This was no problem with my former laptop. The laptop before that it was, fried the mb because of grabbing one handed. Apparently to much flex in that unit.

About the work rageset is doing. For a newbe like me it's great. It shows the very limits under ideal circumstances. This mean for me the laptop will performance good under normal circumstances. It's just that it has to be clear what was done under which circumstances. You guys al contribute to this because i, ass a new one, understand that i will never hit his scores but i know the laptop could. It has headroom..

Look you guys need to stop. No one has ever said since I've started at the beginning of this thread that we had to even post our "circumstances or environments" for overclocking. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing that's burying other more important posts is you guys complaining about his scores. :/

Just noticed they updated the home page with an F5 advertisement showing a option of a 120 Hz display. Dang it Eurocom, make it an select-able option on the configuration page already!

The lid and palm rest area are very solid. However, the bottom panel will flex if you grab it like that. The bottom panel really needs twice as many screws / standoffs and could use being made with a stronger material like a magnesium-aluminum alloy instead of plastic.

Hm i find the bottom panel to be rock solid ... even when i unscrew it i can barely move/remove it. I observe 0 flexing ...
Talking about the display lid ... i am scared to close it with two fingers on one side of the display ... it starts bending "dangerously" in my personal opinion.
... I feel like we are talking about two different laptops.

THIS ^^^... Is so true!! An owners thread without serious OC results is a bad thing. Not everyone can achieve proper bench results without understanding the underlying for the score. + rep already pushed out :)

Are these setting stable for gaming and stuff? Temps aren't too bad?
If so i'll probably just OC to 5.0 when I get the unlocked bios and leave it there for maximum performance / temps ratio

Expect worse thermals in a smaller chassis like 15 inches. You would most likely struggle with similar clocks and temp. You can't change the physics laws

Take one more look into his screenshot  And No processor is equal. As well how low temp you can run your machine. Everything is trial and errors!! Everything needs to match if you want max performance 24/7. Same for Extreme benching!!

If you want maybe I can help you speed up the RMA or get you into direct contact with them, or help you know the quickest most accurate process to get your issues resolved so you can have the laptop you paid for and finally enjoy it.

You can see from the many lovers of this laptop in this thread - it is a great laptop , albeit service for it is not the greatest, corners cut somewhere - Eurocom might also be very busy. They're not a very large seller, like say DELL so when there's a lot of hype for a laptop like this one, they get swamped - hard.

Also, I would ask people have patience, here in Ottawa/Montreal - we've been getting tons of crazy weather. People been getting sick, working hard as we can, it's tough when you spend 4 hours fighting the weather and then have work in the middle of that and it's a busy season too.
