For anyone still experiencing the weird flicker issue when using G-Sync try this fix until Nvidia fixes their driveers. It's a very good work around that forces G-sync on with out the flickering, and stuttering introduced with the last 10 or so drivers.

With my screen at 60hz I set mine to limit to 59fps in RTSS or Riva Tuner Statistics Server

Turn G-Sync on in Nvidia Control Panel both windowed and full screen

Turn On V-Sync in Nvidia Control Panel

    Turn V-Sync Off in game

This lead to a flicker free G-Sync buttery smooth game play experience. Zero tearing, stuttering, or flickering. Input lag was not detected as it was fully using G-Sync. The image is very clear and feels just like my desktop G-Sync screen. I swear G-Sync makes the monitor appear to be higher refresh rate because the image is very clear at all times.

This was based on this longer but very interesting read on G-Sync, V-Sync, and input lag.

Except for the RTSS setting, this is how I understand G-sync needs to be set up - use system v-sync and disable game v-sync.

If you don't use the RTSS setting the system v-sync should work to limit FPS too - unless you are saying that 1 fps difference is the helpful change? I found the same thing without G-sync, set the RTSS to 1 less than Refresh to avoid tearing.

    Nice work :)

That's right. The best approach these days is to turn vsync on and gsync on in the nvidia control panel and have games use vsync off.

So guys, just out of curiosity, if I purchase the F5 and the B156HTN05.2 (15.6 120Hz) screen, will I be able to swap it in?

It should work yes, but right now it can't be purchased anywhere. I've emailed Eurocom about purchasing the screen and was told the 120hz might be an option in January, then I asked about just buying that exact screen and was never responded to.

That is correct G-Sync and V-Sync is necessary to force your max fps to max refresh rate and use G-Sync. However at the moment this is somewhat broken and causes flickering/flashing, terrible fps and stuttering. Fps will jump all over below 60fps even though 60fps is easily attainable at all times. According to the thread I posted by using the combo I listed input lag is reduced to a minimum and keeps G-Sync on and it does work. I can overclock to monitor to 63hz, and set 62FPS as max in RTSS, turn on G-Sync and V-Sync in NV control panel and the game will maintain 62fps all day and be buttery smooth. No issues.

I think the screen needed a special cable for the 120hz panel. The P650RS definitely uses a different cable for the 120hz panel than the 60hz panel.

My guess is MSI plans to offer it on the Kaby Lake GT62VR and 16L13, but until then it will not work (or it will work, but only at 60hz or without GSync, or without both).

Hey guys I'm considering either getting this laptop or a ClevoP650RS. I just have a few questions, do any of you have a minute?

    1. Do the fans on this laptop get loud?

    2. Battery life? I saw someone saying 3.5hours earlier but has anyone been able to test it above 4/5? (I'm a student so this is sort of important)

    3. Do any of you get a backlight bleed on the standard/default 1080 screen?

    4. How many 2.5 drive bays does it have? Eurocom's pricing for their SSDs/HDDs are ridiculous, and I was hoping to keep the 7200 hard drive that came with it, but also install my spare 2.5 inch SSD.

Yes you can swap FHD 60Hz with FHD 120Hz, cable is the same, both panels are 30pin eDP. However you would need F/W upgrade for 120Hz panel to work properly.

The question is, what's the ETA on when Eurocom will be offering this panel on the F5? I want the 7700K/1080 configuration but the only thing holding me back are the panel options.

We are working on F/W upgrade as we speak - may take another 2 weeks or so to get this finalized, tested etc. We already have 120Hz panels in stock.

    1. Under regular use - no, under regular gaming ... you will be sooo much into the game (and the sound is good) so you won't even notice em, if max fans kick in it is loud, but it is highly unlikely even under heavy gaming sessions (only when benchning or by manual maxing fans).

    2. I watched movie + 2 browsers at and it was good for 3 hours (battery saver mode).

    3. Not me, and i think nobody has yet complained of the default 1080 screen.

    4. Just 1 drive... I selected mine with no HDD as i already had 2TB :)

When i was student i had Dell Precision 17" with Quadro FX3600 (GTX8800M) ... it was 4 kg, but it was awesome to play Crysis 1 during lections for 1 hour :)
And back then i was usually walking 45 minutes to uni and then another 45 minutes back :)

Now the Tornado F5 feels heavy to me but maybe i lost shape/touch ... I even weighted it and it is ~3kg/7pounds (the 330W PSU is another 1.3 kg)

Crysis 1 in lecture? Lmfaaao, that's living the dream. Right now I have a GT70 20c (MSI, 770m) and if I tried that everyone would hear the fans (>_>). Also my laptop is like 10lbs and 17 inches, so this would be a major improvement.

That's good news about the fans, battery (I guess that's fine for the circumstances, did you do any under-volting as well?) and screen, but I'm a bit bummed out about the HDD/Storage options. So I guess I'll have to use those M.2 Drives if I want to use an SSD >_>.

When i tested i think it was all stock/default ...
Apart from that I tested under-volting... overvolting ... overclocking (i have some annoying TDP throttle and i cannot determine why i cannot override it with neither XTU nor Throttlestop)
I can stay within 95W TDP with 4.6 multi with no throttling but 4.7 requires more juice and TDP throttles even though with max fans the max temp is 83c...

    P.S. Check this ... on 26th ... 10% off

Good stuff. Pretty much cements the idea that I'll wait to order. I've been in communication with Garry as well, and it seemed like it was hard to give an exact date. I just want to make sure I have the unit in my possession before I travel a few thousand miles for work.

Interesting how it's the same model #. Well, I'll just have to wait patiently.

On a side note, is it still possible to order the unit without RAM and without a logo? I've got my own RAM, and I'm going to be using the laptop in remote areas. Just want to make it look like a sleeper...

about the no logo, they have change the policy a bit. now even if u have No_Logo there will be 1 logo below the screen.
for ram when i messaged them if they can remove, they were willing to remove for 40$, but during blackfriday sales they refused to remove it, lucky for me that i got hyperX impact 2400mhz when originally my order included micron 2133^^. u can try to ask them if they willing to remove tho.

I saw other companies getting a game code if the laptop came with a 1060 or 1070 the same time I bought my laptop but I never got any game code. The website didnt mention any game code either when I bought it and still doesn't.

This at 4.5 gHz, 50 mV undervolt, with a 1070 and 230 watt psu. I'm getting throttling/limiting issues running the cpu any faster - I suspect it's the psu not being big enough.

Oddly enough G-Sync seems to be fully fixed on my machine? Not sure what exactly happened but I did a DirectX setup from the BF4 folder and all of the sudden I am no longer having the flashing issue. I can set G-Sync on, and V-Sync on in NV control panel and it now properly limits to refresh rate and forces fps into the G-Sync range without issue. I tested it in BF4, BF1, and Rainbow Six Siege and all games work flawlessly.

I am on the latest official NV drivers, not the newest flavor of the week hot fix ones.

    Hi guys

I have recently received this laptop and has downloaded XTU and did a benchmark with stock settings which gave about 86c for the cpu. So I decided to undervolt by -0.100v as a baseline which reduced the temps by about 10c but for some reason the clock speed is stuck at 800 MHz and only a restart can restore stock clock speeds.

    Did I accidentally change something?

Hey guys, 2 more questions since I'm full of them, lol.

    1. Do any of you use this laptop on the go a lot? Like to school/work regularly?

    2. Is 4k on a 15 inch screen worth it? Or should I stick to 1080p?

    3. Any audiophiles here? How is the headpone jack for expensive headphones? I use mine in my current MSI laptop and they sound okay I guess, but I'm not getting my full capability out.

    4. I know that CPU upgrades are possible, but are GPU upgrades really possible on this laptop? I suppose we wont know until the next GPU series comes out, but I was just wondering.

Number 2. 4k is terrible on 15" dude dont try it out FHD with 120Hz is enough and gtx 1080 can handle DRS of Nvidia for down scale from 4k to FHD for better quality so i think 4K in 15" screen is not worth it :D

I was wondering if I could get some help. I received my Tornado F5 after an arduous process of dealing with their finance office over the payment process, shipping address issues, and finally retrieving it from family after my business trip only to encounter technical issues after installing extra ram and an ssd (following eurocom techologies YouTube instructions) .

The laptop only boots to black screen and doesn't get past POST. The bios used to boot as expected after the ram and ssd installation, but once I accessed system information to confirm all 3 rams were installed (24gb of 8gb sticks all at 2400mhz), the bios froze. I rebooted and haven't got it to work since. Before this, I was able to access the bios effortlessly. Ive attempted to discharge any power left by the cmos battery disconnecting the adapter and battery and holding the power button for 2min repeatedly as well as change the ram configurations and unplug the ssd but to no avail. This is upsetting as I haven't had a good experience going through the purchasing process with eurocom and now the laptop's certainly not working as expected either.

Take out the ram and the hdd/ssd then take out the cmos for 1 minute. Then reassemble the laptop, put back the cmos (not the ram and hdd/ssd) and see if you can get into the bios by pressing the delete key at startup.

Have you tried using the battery reset procedure outlined in the system manual on page 2-10? I think the CMOS battery is on the top side of the mainboard so unplugging it is complicated otherwise.

I had to go through a similar ordeal with my Tornado F5 when I first received. It was booting with a dead display - but as it turned out the system worked fine otherwise. After closer inspection of the display cable I found that it was out of its channel in the chassis and had become pinched between the CPU heatsink and the chassis. I would first try returning it to stock RAM configuration then add parts until it fails. If it doesn't fail it may have just been badly seated RAM or something.

I just returned my GT62VR back to Newegg.ca and bought Tornado F5 equipped with
    6700k
    1070
    16GB HyperX
    250GB Samsung 850 evo

Cost me around 500$ CAD to do the swap. Can't wait to receive my new laptop!

Thanks @UsmanKhan Was my own Christmas presents :p

Anyone can give me some insight on thing to do when i first receive my Tornado F5?
also possible advice on doing these :

I plan on undervolting my CPU for lowest temps possible @ 4.0 GHZ stable.
I plan on overclocking my GPU @ stock voltage.

Any values i could start with for those of you who are stable with their Tornado F5 unit.
Also, i see tons of people using Throttlestop, what reason are everyone using that program for?

My plan is to push H1Z1 / GTA V @ Maximum graphic @ 60 FPS stables.
If i manage to keep temperature under 80c under full gaming load that would be great.

Is it a G-sync approved panel? Alienware uses a G-sync approved 120hz 15.6" in theirs so hoping it's the same model they are using.

since bios are locked, Throttle stop and XTU are used to do overclocking and undervolting etc. for me -150mv is pretty stable and has more thn 10c different vs stock volts. on gpu can easily do +200 on core and +500 memory.
not sure about H1Z1 but gta V will have no trouble doing 60fps g-sync locked.
