I say possibly a memory issue, but this is only a guess. The BSOD log file is a memory dump. If the RAM (or CPU) itself is the cause of the error, then it might lock up and and never be able to proceed to the BSOD. I'm not ruling out other possible problems, a memory issue is just my first guess.

I'll double check my Ram tonight but if I have a bad cpu wouldn't that show up as RAM fails in memtest86?

It can't be windows if you're getting errors in Memtest86 since that loads outside of Windows off a USB stick.. It really narrows down your issues to CPU or Memory.. Or faulty system board. Unfortunately you might need to have Eurocom replace the board or just give you another Tornado F5..

Ran memtest86 and my RAM that previously only produced one fail just topped out at 350K+ fails not even making it through one pass of the whole test. All errors were on test 8 and at the 350K error mark the program became unresponsive and black screened. Upon hard resetting it now will not boot but power comes on but black screen only. Looks like I've got a brick now.

Jeez, I've never heard of such a catastrophic error in Memtest86 before  I'm not even sure how that could even happen.

I think if there is a bright side to this, it's that you've definitely found the culprit for your crashing. It's validation of your own sanity, as I'm sure these past few days have been especially frustrating.

Try resetting your BIOS (should be a little pinhole located on the buttom panel of the computer). Also, make sure your boot order is correctly pointed at your primary storage device. If you still can't boot, I think you should be able to reasonably RMA it. Memtest is an industry accepted test for RAM and should not be bricking computers. That would suggest something else was faulty in your system, CPU, motherboard, or otherwise which failed after being stressed.

Seems like the new nvidia drivers fixed my problem with TWW at least. Not sure why the previous 4 drivers didn't work for me though. GoW4 remains broken and I think I'm throwing in the towel for that. Apparently there's many others out there who can't play the game either.

Anyone know what size thickness the thermal pads are? I'm guessing maybe 1.0mm? Mine came apart in pieces after just 3x of repasting =/

I believe that internet is full information how 1070 performs...but this gpu is more than good for FHD gaming.4K gaming ready with some hiccups.

It's about 5-10% slower than a desktop GTX 1070. You can overclock it to match a stock desktop GTX 1070. If we had an unlocked vBIOS, we could easily surpass the desktop counterpart, but alas, we're severely power limited

Surprised that it runs slower with a higher core count but lower clocks like 40mhz..

Do not forget that desktop graphics has improved cooling than those in laptops. Pascal performs better the lower the temperature is. Physical laws are difficult to bypass

This is not what I refer to. Lower temperature means better performance with pascal. Desktop card can hold longer/higher boost clock due better cooling

It's severely TDP limited. Temps are fine but the vbios simply won't allow us to pull more power. Even with a +225mhz offset the card under heavy load will still only bounce around between 1750-1800mhz.

It's also slower because it doesn't boost the same amount the desktop card does because it's almost at its max power limit out of the box. This is why the overclock is far less effective.

The good news is that Pascal clocks seem to be far less important than with Maxwell. FPS changes clock for clock on Maxwell was higher.

Still, at 1080p 60hz this GPU is way overkill in most games. It's the first time I've had a laptop and felt like it was too powerful for my needs. It can imagine this card/laptop will last me a very long time.

fair enough. i was thinking of just OC'ing back up to the original clock speed which is about 40-50MHz extra. plus, i am not super fussed about overclocking so long as it runs better than the notebook 980.

Around 30% faster than the laptop GTX 980. I was running DOOM at ~150 FPS earlier, which I found somewhat amusing considering my screen is only 60 Hz... I wholeheartedly agree with Talon, I expect this system to easily handle 1080p for years to come.

About 12 years ago I bought a CyberPower PC desktop where I got a bad set of RAM, where the memtest encountered so many errors that it eventually just stopped counting the errors and added a "+" symbol. After a quick call with customer support they sent out a new set of sticks (with the caveat that they would charge me if they didn't receive the bad sticks back after a set amount of days).

No new updates on my Fangbook4, still waiting. Still has a ship date of 11/25.

Seems like the 15" Fangbook 4 with the Nvidia 1070 is out of stock at Cyberpower right now. I hope it comes back in time for Black Friday, as that's what I had my eye on.

Just emailed them, and it seems it won't be back in stock until January - with no Black Friday deal. Very disappointing.

Does anyone know whether it's the only barebones option in Europe? It doesn't seem like Eurocom have a European reseller, and the import duties would probably make it not worthwhile.

Why not consider the Tornado F5 from Eurocom? It's significantly cheaper through them (especially with a student discount) and although I'm having issues with mine (I seem to be the only one who got a bad one) everyone else is in love with theirs. So far, my customer service experience with @Eurocom Support has been great. I've responded back and forth 20 times through email and always got very thorough, detailed responses. I just sent it back for RMA service and I'll let you all know how that goes. There's not a lot of Eurocom customer service feedback on the internet it seems.

    Sincerely,

I am. But like I mentioned, I'm in Europe, and if Eurocom don't have a reseller over here, I'll have to order it from the US and run the risk of having to pay import duty and sales tax (+ 25% of the total price including shipping) - and then it's suddenly not-so-cheap.

Plus the added problems of having to ship it back over the Atlantic if something goes wrong and I have to send it back for service.

Ahh. Sorry didn't see the 2nd post. You are right that would be a pain. So in Europe, everything bought from out of country has a 25% import tax paid by the consumer?

I'm in Denmark. If I buy from within the European Union, there'll be no additional fees added (but the seller has to either add local sales tax or Danish sales tax (25%) if his sales to Denmark exceed a certain amount/year).

If I buy from outside the EU, the 25% sales tax MIGHT be added along with a smaller import duty fee. The customs officers can't process all the packages coming into the country, so it's done by "random" sampling - and sometimes you get lucky, and sometimes not.

Huh, I ordered mine during the Veteran's day sale (you can see a few pages back with all the extra's/freebies I got). Although that might explain why I haven't seen any movement on my laptop. That's mildly disappointing.

I think I remember @Eurocom Support mentioning earlier in the thread that they had a European re-seller and had advised someone else to get in touch with their sales team for more info.

It's a shame Cyberpower have ran out of stock, I was lucky to get mine with an early Black Friday discount about a month ago.

I'm kinda tempted to return the system, because the display bezel being slightly loose from the outside, not the gap in between it and the screen. Is anyone noticing a small amount of flex and a small gap between the front and back part of the top bezel?

Buy with 8GB of RAM and the get another 8GB yourself, get a "normal", not anything gamey-fancy since the difference will be close to null. Upgrading is as simple as opening the bottom cover and sliding the new stick, it's fail-proof ;)

I wish that both discounts could be summed tho!

Garry from Eurocom answered after 8 (!) minutes and referred me to their European re-seller: http://www.goldmax.cz (language options are at the bottom of the page)

I can't see the Tornado F5 on their website, though, so I sent them an email and asked about it. The plot thickens!

I'm not too knowledgeable on display overclocking, but I think @Talon hit 63 Hz? Eurocom has stated this notebook will support a 120 Hz panel sometime next year if you want to go much higher than 60 Hz.

It should work but it won't run at 2666 MHz as the Tornado F5 motherboard only supports up to 2400 MHz. You still will be able use the RAM and run at 2400 MHz. Maybe this will change when Eurocom rolls out the unlocked BIOS for the Tornado.
