I've downloaded a Realtek wifi card driver from there and had no problems. It's like station-drivers where they collect drivers and group them by category and manufacturer. Someone can try the Cinema 3 and report back if it works. Seems to be the latest from Creative.
I'm building a desktop setup and can't do it for you (I would have done so gladly though).

Might just have to sign up for the notification when that Samsung Panel comes in stock and order to have on hand since it's out of stock and eBay prices are charging double for it.

Now that I think about it, why don't more laptops come with 1440p panels? I think a gsync 1440p screen would be perfect for this laptop.

So I torn down the heatsinks again for another repaste.. Just didn't feel like my first job was good enough.

Netted another 4C off the GPU which is great though. The CPU seems about the same :/ Maybe slightly better? I still get 89C under Prime95 Small FPU (after 10 minutes, would probably get into the 90s sigh) at stock 4ghz with my undervolt. Hard to keep this unit under control with the heat for that test.. wPrime 1024/ThrottleStop 1024 only get up to 72C.

Also.. The GPU downclocks to it's base clocks without the battery inserted.. I was freaking out when I ran some benches and saw my scores were lower than normal (and temps were good as a result). At first I was like oh WOW my GPU temps are perfect now.. Doh. So word of the wise, don't try to bench without the battery inserted.. It seems it's some kind of fail safe procedure because the GPU voltage was normal and not low. CPU was still same performance without battery though.

Beautiful pictures :D! Is it just me, or did Eurocom seriously overtighten those screws on the heatsink assembly? Like, I had to put some serious force to get some of those screws loose...

As for the GPU, I noticed that EVGA Precision was spitting out Power Limit notifications when under 100% full load (i.e. Heaven Benchmark). This causes the GPU core clock to bounce up and down wildly when maximally stressed. Unfortunately for us, it looks like we will be limited by power draw, not temps, until we get a new vBIOS. On a more positive note, the GTX 1070 is so overkill at 1080p that nothing will max out the GPU for at least another year or two.

So i'm using Silent Option and it's really cool.. Surprisingly I can run benches like wPrime 1024 and set the fans to not even turn on until I guess what might be around 75c.. Cause it's up to 70c. and they aren't on.. Lol. Fans don't seem to do much in this system if I can do a full bench without the fans coming on lol.

Downside is Silent Option seems to not allow the CPU to idle down at all.. It's jumping all over the place with it running.

That's one of the nice things when your cooling system has some mass to it, it can store a lot of heat and not need the exhaust system to keep up so closely with temperature rises.

On long sustained use the thermals will increase, and you will want steady fan cooling, but it's nice when the system can hold up under peak usages and not push the fans higher, and makes a tool like Silent Option such a good idea.

That's strange... so if you open Task Manager, Silent Option takes up CPU cycles? It pretty much stays at 0% for me...

    Nice pics!

Are these CPU temps just because that is such an extreme benchmark test? How are your temps on CPU and GPU during gaming and other benchmarks, I take it they are much better?

How is it when going above 4ghz if the temps are already that high? Thanks!

It's not taking up CPU. basically at 0% in task manager as well but something about it makes the CPU run at 2ghz+ all the time.. Not a load per se, but it's making the multiplier stay high.

Running OCCT right now.. 30 minutes into it with undervolt at stock 4ghz and it's peaked at 87c so far.

Edit: 1 hour test with OCCT with a staggering 92C tops :/ Lol. @Talon I would like to see what your graphs from OCCT look like after an hour with your undervolt + stock clocks. Could you run an hour on OCCT? (Not Linpack, just normal tab, just hit Start on the bench).

Could be my re-paste is bad.. I have some Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut on the way so i'll be repasting with that.. I'm starting to hate CLU/CLP.. It's a pain to work with.. It runs off too easy and I always feel like the coverage is bad with it. I probably have air gaps. It's also a nightmare if you drip it on contacts/pins, etc.. It can short stuff out easy and you'll be dying all day trying to figure out how to fix your components and where you got the liquid metal..

Plus it doesn't adhere well to anything.. especially metal of all things where you're trying to use it.

Report back when I repaste in a day or two on this..

Do you have System Control Manager (SCM) or Killer Network Manager (KNM) running by any chance? I disabled these two processes from startup after realizing they're basically bloatware.

I take it these benchmarks and temps aren't representative of normal usage or even gaming though?

Yeah would be interesting to see what temps others are getting. Were you running cooler than this before the repaste?

curious when will eurocom update their cpu option to kabylake ;), the new i5-7600k will have a base clock at 4ghz which is pretty good for gaming as well as reduce extra heat from i7

Correct, not a good representation during gaming as these are AVX based loads. But I do rendering/encoding which use AVX functions so stability/temps here are important to me.. As low as I can get these extreme benches on temps as possible..

Right now i'm working on a static voltage for undervolting instead of using an offset.. Seems to be a lot more stable when applying a load and taking the load away from a cpu.. When you let the BIOS control the voltage, the extreme change from .6volts up to 1.2volts (vice versa too) will lock the system up.

So i'm trying to get my package power down as much as possible.. I'm down to 83-84watts under Small FPU Prime95 which is incredible really.. at 4ghz. I believe stock wattage under same test would be around 120watts or so.

Would it be worth holding out for the 7700k to make it's way to the 16L13 before buying one? Are they expected early next year?

If you are able to wait (i.e. you don't need the notebook right away), it is always better to not buy until you actually need it. There will always be something "better" looming around the corner in the tech industry :D
    • Q1/Q2 2017 - Intel Kaby Lake
    • Q2/Q3 2017 - AMD Vega
    • Q3/Q4 2017 - Nvidia Volta
    • 2018 - ???

16L1 is the baseline model I guess and the 3 on the end is the newest version of it with Pascal GPU support.

Finally settled on my overclock settings. I have to say I'm having so much fun tearing down, tweaking, and optimizing this notebook, that I've barely played any games on it yet... It's certainly addicting :D

Could anyone verify wether this model has an HDMI 1.4 port or an HDMI 2.0 port?

I was about to order this model but I spotted on Eurocom that the HDMI port is noted as 1.4. 2.0 is a must for me for driving my 4K 60Hz TV. I honestly can't imagine a 1070 without a HDMI 2.0 port

It's 100% HDMI 2.0. I am able to drive my TV at home at 1080p 120hz with the HDMI cord. Older HDMI cannot do this.

Third times a charm.. Repasted everything again. Used CLU on the CPU die only.. And used Kryonaut on the CPU heatsink and GPU and very impressed.. Slowed down temperature creep by like x3 at least. At 10 minutes before the repaste I was getting 90-92c with prime95.. Now i'm holding 82c so far after 10 minutes. Huge improvement there. And CPU and GPU now drop into the 30s idle way faster than they did before.

wPrime only hits 71c now.. whereas before it would hit 75-76.

Pretty damn happy now.. not touching it again! lol.

Edit: And received my 330watter PSU today (from China direct). Works great, Delta PSU..

How does Kryonaut compare over IC Diamond? Any downsides?

The IC Diamond I got from Eurocom was fine (Although they used entirely way too much).. I did have some pitting on the heatsinks and who knows if that was the IC Diamond's fault or if the heatsinks pits were a result of mediocre copper molds.

I don't really care to OC honestly, I didn't get a whole lot more room but my overclock profile is 4.2ghz on all cores (up from 4ghz) and it runs great.. Just going to stick to that :p I just wanted to stay 4ghz and higher without extreme heat and I finally seem to have gotten there (fingers crossed).

That being said, I don't know how they compare.. I am de-lidded now and I was completely stock with IC Diamond.. Kryonaut is supposedly some top tier non abrasive highly heat conductive paste though (Not metal conductive at all).. It was VERY thick when spreading it out. I liked working with it. Easier to deal with.

wPrime 1024 only got to 69c!!! Down from 75c on my last repaste.

    Actually I think HDMI 1.4b supports both 1080p 120Hz and 4K 30Hz, but not 4K 60Hz.

Is there anyone who owns this model and also a 4K TV that could test this for me? Would be very appreciated!
