hmm interesting, but I couldn't find it on their site.

 

It's all about the pricing, sometimes the barebone costs about the same as branded MSI laptops if you added components. also the barebone only comes with 1 year US warranty unlike branded models comes with 1 year global + 2 year US warranty, that's why not many resellers listing barebones anymore.

 

But.... If a customer request a barebones, you resellers have means to reach them?

Not all versions of models might be available in a barebones. And in some cases, I believe there are some ones that are pretty much the same price as the branded versions, so it might be a better option to just get the MSI instead of the barebones.

 

No if you don't want the flashy logos/lights and you already own a Windows key

Then it is definitely worth comparing a branded MSI computer to a barebones. If you have a key, you could very well end up saving some money, plus you wouldn't have the added lights and logo.

You probably want to reach out to where you purchased it. A lot of the barebones models don't have a site like the MSI branded ones do where you can download bios, drivers, firmware, etc.

 

I have contacted their live support and they can't help me with the bios
They suggest contacting MSI for whitebook bios
I guess its a dead end for me

 

Usually when people contact us about the barebones, we do have to reach to MSI for that (if we don't have it already). I would say to contact MSI if the seller doesn't have the latest BIOS then.

Go to MSI forums directly and contact Svet. I assume you want the latest BIOS to install a new GPU?

 

you can flash the original bios from msi. Simply add the X parameter. (Afudos E1763IMS.51D /p /b /n /r /x). Only the EC firmware you should not use MSI because it is customized for your device. You can use any graphics card, no matter what generation in MS-1763rd I had there ever a GTX980M 8GB of Clevo installed and now use a GTX970M 6GB of Clevo.

for bios I can flash straight from my win 8.1 but for EC flash it on DOS?

 

Yes you will need to use USB flash drive to boot to flash tool.

Hello all!

Just was given a unusable laptop from my cousin and looking to get some information on it! Not quite sure if this is the correct thread, if not, please let me know where I should go!

The laptop is a PowerNotebooks MS-1761(?). It's practically in perfect condition, but the power jack has died and needs to be replaced. I have so far identified that the MOBO is the 17611 ver 1.1, but I can't seem to find much info on anything else. I want to assume that the model is similar to the MSI GT780?
I would love to only replace the power jack, but will end up buying a new mobo for it, if it comes down to it.

About the jack/board: Where have you shopped around? I don't know about any official suppliers still having anything for this model, but perhaps individual sellers will yield better luck (NBR Marketplace, eBay, etc.).

 

So far I was looking at eBay, but I've been wary on the boards because they have been VER 1.0, and I have a VER 1.1
I called MSI and the "tech support" says that there shouldn't be a difference but he seemed like he wanted to make the call fast than actually help me.

I didn't know about the NBR Marketplace and you might've just saved me as I found a possible seller! Thank you so much!

guys, can anyone help? i ve flash gt70 ec to my valkyrie cz 27 and now my panel buttons dont work. unfortunately i did not save the original EC. can anybody suggest anything or share a working EC for this laptop?

bricked the board by flashing wrong bios now. will have to use programmer to bring it to life... waiting for my friend to do it for me. already found the correct EC and BIOS, but really thanks for responding. i'll sen you PM if anything!

I need some help. I bought a MS-1763. AIDA64 reads as MSI Megabook MS-1763, just if u need it. My dGPU is R9 M290X

There is my data:

EC: 1763EG62.718

Can GENTECH or someone provide me the latest compatible versión?!

I tried to update with the 1763EG61.517 under Windows 8.1 and nope: "Wrong Project"

 

I updated from BIOS. I think I used a bootable win98 USB drive and then flashed the BIOS and EC from there.

I've got a MS16-F4 and for the past few months when I'm gaming (Dota2), my CPU temperatures are always at 90-93C and my GPU is 78-83C. Sometimes I notice some throttling as well.

I usually use the turbo boost to cool it down (this doesn't seem to help the fps throttling though). Anyone else with CPU heat issues but not on the GPU?

Wondering if I should put in some paste myself, but not sure how daunting a task that is.
