Oh that's a shameI think Talon had found that you can partially OC the CPU using intel extreme tool 3.2? Or something along those lines. And by overclocking I mean setting their turbo ratio on all cores. I will look into it.

You have to use Intel Extreme Tuning Utility version 3.2. At least this is what worked for me. The other newest version would allow me to set the higher multiplier, but would not take it when hitting apply. I decided to just try and older version for testing, and it worked perfectly! This version works great and accepts the new higher ratios.
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=21743 Enjoy the speed!!
This discovery is why I am considering dropping the $550 on a 4900MQ. 4.2ghz across 4 cores would be beastly. And allow me to keep temps lower than what the 4930mx would do. Since I mainly play BF3, the extra cache and speed would probably be noticeable. Also I want to prepare for BF4.
I think the 4800MQ and 4900MQ have 400mhz or 4 unlocked multis, where the 4700MQ only has 2 unlocked multis. -
bro can you help me??. i have gt683dxr ms-16f2 and my gpu died and im planning to buy a 7970m. what should i buy?? dell ?? or clevo??
if i get dell then what should i do to make it work on my machine. should i blind flash it to 015.017 or will i flash it to clevo vbios to work??

Untested at this point. Still to test the other version of xtu since the office is very busy atm. We can see that the sliders goo all the way to 4.2ghz 4 core on the 4900mq but cant set it with the latest version of xtu.
This will change assuming the visa system hurries up. -
-
I got my 4900MQ this morning and got it installed. Vesion 3.2 of XTU will let me set and apply the unlocked multis. Currently the highest stable OC I have tested is 42/41/40/40. The sliders will go all the way up to 44/43/42/42 but as soon as I hit apply Windows 8 crashes. I am not sure if I need to adjust some wattage different? Any help? Still though 4Ghz on 4 cores is pretty nice!
-
Nice, please run some benchmarks like prime. Stock Vs Overclock. I'm very close to getting one of these notebooks and maybe order the 4900MQ upgrade... -
Dammmm 4ghz on 4 cores?! Such amazing performance you will get!
-
I guess this is where I belong... Just bought 1763 w/ 780M from Ken at Gentech... Should ship soon. Can't wait to get it.. I'm wondering if anyone has attempted to flash the MSI bios onto these including the EC....

You need to bump up the voltage offset (cpu voltage basically) to make it run faster. Just watch those temps!

Is it there no any capslock/numlock indicator above the touchpanel in 1762 model?
-
Hello guys, i have this Unknown Device in Device Manager.. i installed all drivers from MSI GT70 0ne page ( i have 1762 ).
But this device is not even recognized.
hardware id is 'ACPI\KB9XRADIOBTN' is it some sort of radio button or what? -
-
hey guys I just run a quick 3dmark11 stock:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780M video card benchmark result - Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4800MQ CPU @ 2.70GHz,PowerNotebooks MS-1763
but I have a problem here with my Physics Score is to low 6732???
what im doing wrong?? -
Quick question: On the new 1763 barebones, do the optical drive slot also have Sata 3? I've opted to have the HDD caddy instead of the optical drive, and was wondering if the caddy interface will provide the same speed as slot 0 and 1.. Thanks!

MSI Global â Download Center -
What is the purpose of that driver though? -
I was reading the 1762 barebones' touchpad does not have 'scroll' capability. Is it the same with the new 1763?
-
sorry guys for the noob question...
but its the first time I buy msi laptops
I have the msi 1763 barebone where can I download bios-ec updates if there are any new??
also the bios-ec or drivers are the same as the msi gt70 2od??
thanks in advance -
If you really need bios and ec updates, contact your manufacturer from whoever you bought the notebook. -
FYI, I can confirm that at least the MS-17621 (937-176262-072) (Barebone GT70) does have a multitouch, scrolling touchpad given the right BIOS and driver.

Question and thought regarding the extra Mini-PCI Express slot right next to where the the Wifi-Card goes in: Is that slot live / usable? If so, is it possible to place a small mSata module there and potentially use that slot as a boot drive? If so, that would be awesome. Anyone tested this?
Edit:Nevermind, the picture I saw was on a different machine.. But I wonder if there is an extra mini PCI E slot... -
These question may come cross as 'dumb questions", but please bare in mind that this is my first MSI machine, second gaming laptop. ASUS G74 being first.. Learning here, and eagerly waiting for the laptop's arrival later on today...

Here are some pictures of my new MS-1763 barebone w/ GTX780M. Looks identical to the MSI branded ones without the logo. Also, MSI has now removed the speaker LED illumination as well as the LED illumination at the bottom front of the laptop. Like I said, identical to the MSI branded, except for the red trims on the branded ones (touch panel and touch pad). Personally, I like this barebone clean trim much better. Oh, one more thing, MSI has also incorporated the identical touch pad, w/ 2 separate buttons + all multi-touch enabled. Synaptics drivers all installed from MSI site, and works fine. The keyboard illumination is blue, and spread-out evenly. The keyboard itself is very pleasant to use. All keys register effortlessly, and I do not detect any flex.. I love this laptop! Bought it from GentechPC (Haswell 4700MQ + GTX780M + Intel Wirelss AC 7620 + Optical HDD drive caddy)

How do I upload files? took some pics with my iphone, but it fails to upload...

If it's not letting you upload to this site, try another like imgur and then link us

Hey ALL!
Just got the 780m version of this barebone.
Question is this.
Is the keyboard a steelseries just like the MSI or not so with the barebone version?
Fun fact, the MSI color keyboard software works for this as well minus having any other color then blue haha -

Ill be joining the BAREBONER ranks next week when my 17 inch 780m model arrives thanks to Ken from Gentech. Thanks again Ken and always a pleasure to deal with you.
It is too bad we cant share ideas or fixes with the branded model owners considering this year the Barebone is essentially identical except for the back cover and colored keyboard.
Hopefully some more owners will chime in like MSI Lover has. Looking forward to those pictures as well since there are none out there of the new model. -

It was the same last gen too.

I promised to post some barebone pics. Tried to upload the files here, but failed. Per Ryzeki's suggestion, I've posted them on ImageShack. Here are some pics of the Laptop:
Laptop sitting on my bedw/ lid closed (Same brushed aluminum looking "Plastic" cover (I like it! looks just like metal)
Laptop turned on (blurry..) but you get the idea. Same as branded MSI, except for the keyboard (blue led)
Laptop front view (Turned Off)
Keyboard and Touch Panel close-up
Touch-Pad Close-Up

Man I am jealous, If I had the decent touchpad with the dual buttons and mechanical on/off (touchpad) switch on my laptop it would be just about perfect for me.
Unfortunately due to present job circumstances, I cannot sell my machine and upgrade at this time. Maybe later this year, or I may end up skipping this generation all together.
Edit: I wonder if the multicolor keyboard is compatible with this new model, unlike on my generation? -
As you can see, except for the color trim and 2 buttons (P1 and eject ( "G" on Branded), the laptops are identical. Of course, this one doesn't have the multi-colored steel series. But the keyboard is very nice. Very smooth to type on, all keys register effortlessly (I'm a fast typer about 70 words / min).
Given the fact that the branded vs. the whitebook uses the same board, and without excessive lighting differences, I have a hunch, it should be 'convertible' to MSI bios / EC. But I'm not that brave... I'll let the 'Experts' try it out first.
I'm loving this laptop. Flipping back and forth from Win-7 to Win-8 (Acronis Imaging). Still testing things out.
One more thing. I see a lot of discussion going on regarding the fan 'type'? NTxx vs. T&T? I don't know... But it seems, this laptop has the first generation (supposedly the louder fan). But during normal use, I can't hear anything.. Windows 8 Performance setting is practically 'Silent' on my lap... But if I hit the turbo fan, then it does get louder (expected to running nearly at full speed...)
So far, this laptop is perfect. No issues what so ever. Touch-pad multi-figer gestures all work, buttons feel pretty good. One thing I've noticed was that SCM software was causing some issues / confusion with the system when it comes to blutooth. It doesn't understand when bluetooth is either off, or on. Nor is it able to control the on and off of the blutooth. So I've disabled it from starting up. Now no issues.
When you 'experts' successfully flash the MSI bios / EC on this thing, please let me know. I'd love to convert it if possible. Why do you ask? Well, the current bios and everything works just fine. But in order to receive the bios updates, it seems that whitebook owners must contact MSI directly to request one. I've also heard that they often talk you out of flashing / upgrading the bios.
I like the idea of going directly to MSI site and download / flash as updates / fixes are made vs. calling MSI and begging for one.. That is all.
Regarding the blutooth issues I'm having: I wonder if it's because of my card. Intel Dual-Band Wireless 7260 AC + blutooth 4.0 card... No way to tell until Intel officially releases the blutooth drivers (still non-existent). -
Congrats Quadzilla.
Who says you can't share ideas with the branded owners, I just ordered from GenTech too but I got the GT60 but like you said they are pretty much the same all across the board so fixes and problems will essentially be the same no matter if you get the GT60/GT70 or either BAREBONER version . I personally think that's pretty cool.
Anyway glad to see you joined the ranks of MSI nation. -
-
The more MSI owners the merrier! We have basically the same specs and machines so it doesn't matter if it's branded or barebone, 15 or 17incher. We all rock
-
@ryzeki: Couldn't agree more!
Took your advice on 'linking' the images. As you can see, pics posted.
-
Thanks for the pics MSI_Lover i am looking forward to the arrival of mine and now no guess work of how its going to look helps as well.
As for the official branded owners vs the barebones i think they are the same in all the important aspects but certain people get a little touchy feely about sharing info from branded to non branded is why i ever said that to begin with
It is 100% true about the more the merrier and that is all that should matter but well yeah...
