Checked these sites. And it looks like they are carrying them or will release in one or two days.

I was wondering if you guys know if anyone of these companies who would ship to the US and if they are reliable. Thanks.
-
Best if you ask them yourself...
-
I sent email to cancomputer and they said no...
-
yeah talked to cancomputer, and they apparenlty don't ship to the us. gosh.
-
Most don't, because most are smaller stores.
If possible, I'd wait til they are avaliable in Future Shop(Canadian Bets buy, so to say..) cross the border, pick it up, etc. -
I just picked mine up from www.sonaggi.com
After looking at the one on display, I just had to buy it.
Paid $1799+tax = $2068.85 (CDN)
-
Hey Hurricane. How do youlike t1?
-
They have the ASUS A3e as the pic for it
Looks like a good price though! -
I've only just gotten it, and I'm transferring files out of my HP NC4010 right now.... - Anyone want to buy a HP NC4010 Pentium M 1.7ghz, 1 GB DDR, 100GB 5400rpm HD, Wifi, Bluetooth + external DVDRW with almost 3 years of warranty??
LOL
But the T1 - I really like the touchpad texture, but I'm finding the fingerprint thing almost impossible to use.. my finger is really 'grippy'.... and it's not working well - But it might just be me.
Will update as I use it more.
One major thing (to me anyways), is that the HD is a 1.8" hd.. I usually like to throw 100gb HD's in my laptops (for speed & storage).. but I think I'm going to leave this one...
-
NCIX sells LG. They will ship to the US, I'm pretty sure.
They also do special orders. -
Too bad they want $140 more...
Further T1 stuff:
I'm finding the keyboard isn't nearly as good as the one on the LW40 or on some of the nicer laptops (ie IBM's).
On the other hand, it's definitely tons better than the Acer POS keyboards...
-
Nice nice, good to hear
How about some pictures -
-
Very stunning piano black finish.
You have to clean that desk of yours LOL! -
Congretz on the the new notebook hurricane it looks realy good - wish they had "black piano" in Denmark...

all i can say i s WOW!!!!!, **** that piano black paint!! WOW!!! almsot makes me wanna get a S1 instead of a P1..even though i haven't seen em yet hehe.
Congratz on a beautiful baby... is it a boy or a girl?
Is there any flex... comment on the build quality?
Thanks,
MysticGolem -
I was hesitant about the build quality when I first heard about the T1... but I can assure you, this thing is solid like a rock, you won't be able to feel ANY flex at all. Thus far, the build quality seems to be excellent.
The only minor annoying thing is on the black cover where the front edge strip connects to the rest of the top, there is a slight gap, and depending on your angle, you can see the cables (slightly), etc... but it sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the black gloss when you do see it...

that's AWSOME!! thanks for the info.. lets hope the other Express Dual Models are jsut as good interms of build quality.
Thanks,

How many hours did you get for battery life?
-
So, assuming the 15% was roughyl accurate, it'll probably do 4.5 hours with the optical drive and hd on the whole time. -
Looks good so far!
What was screen at? -
I turned it up to 7/8, but once i leave it, it dims pretty quick...
-
That's nice! Thank you!
-
okay, wow, and do you have the 6 or 9 cell battery?
and you spoke about flexing, that was about the casing, right, but how's the keyboard, flex-wise? -
I'll do some benchmarks on the hd for you guys and post later on! -
Thanks again hurricane. I'm really looking forward to your review!
-
Some really rough Benchmarks:
I ran Sisoft Sandra just to get a rough number for each subsystem.
The following are raw performance, not necessarily reflected in real-world performance:
The CPU Arithmetic and Multimedia Benchmarks came out just slightly higher than the AMD FX-57 (Single core, 2.6Ghz)
The HD gave an average transfer rate 19MB/s which matched the 60GB 7200rpm Hitachi (according to the program). The hard drive was about 70% empty when I did this. I haven't gotten around to checking access times and min/max transfer rates, but will do later
Memory performed pretty well - averaged just over 3500MB/s ~ 66% efficiency according to the program. Interesting to note that this laptop uses 1 microdimm and one regular sodimm...? I'm guessing this is how they came up with the 3GB max memory (1GB microdimm + 2GB sodimm?)
Anyways, these numbers look much more reasonable compared to actual spec than my older HP nc4010 (that notebook only achieved 16% memory efficiency.. with all power saving off. The ati chipset on that laptop was garbage...)
-
Thanks for all these details. You are being the current T1 independent reference in the whole Internet (in latin ASCII at least).
A couple of questions, if you don't mind.
Although the piano design looks shiny I wonder if it's not disturbing when working with it 8 hours in front of this black/white contrast on a daily basis.
Does anybody have pictures of the 100% black version?
Also, what about the liquid cooling system? Is it a full substitute of the fan or a complement? Is it so silent as they advertise?
And I know it's pretty cold now in Canada but... but about heating? -
Working with the black/white part doesn't really make any difference. Only the frame around the screen is black, and the white keyboard area is like working with any other white notebook (ie the ibook - which when I had it, got dirty much quicker than this lg because of the finish)
I have not had any problems with the contrast in the past week.
I haven't checked out this 'liquid cooling thing' I couldn't find much about that at all, but I can tell you that the fan, when it spins up is still much, much quieter than any 2.5" harddrive. I don't have anything to measure this with, but suffice it to say, unless it gets dust and stuff in there, you'll probably never hear it unless you put your ear within half a foot of the keyboard.
And about the laptop itself getting hot - I have had it on a desk the whole time, but when puttig the laptop back in it's bag immediately after working, I don't recall it ever being more than warm.
-
nearly all highend notebook use liquid cooling system
a while ago. It's not new things...... -
Oh, you mean the heatpipes?
I guess that could be considered borderline liquid cooling..
-
I think the Toronto area supplier is totally out of T1's and there's a major backorder.
If anyone wants one, I can get one new one from the distro - $2000 taxes in. Let me know by the end of today if you want it. Brand New in Box of course. -
I saw one in person yesterday, a nice little unit. Fingerprint magnet though
-
Where'd you see it?
-
Notebook Outlet in Pacific Mall(****ty customer service though, from friends and my own experience)

The hurricane how are you able to get the T1 laptop from the distro??
Distro meaning distributers?
Also the hurricane have you seen the P1 or S1?
Please explain.. also if you have prices for the S1 or P1?
Thanks,
MysticGolem -
I have a friend who works for the distributor + I have a side business reselling satellite receivers, so I've got a vendor permit aswell. The S1/M1's are not in yet... afaik. When I find out, I'll letcha guys know.
-
Do you guys know how the US custom handles the imported Notebook? I talked Sonaggi.com and they told me they are willing to ship Xnote T1 to the US, and I was wondering how much is the tax usually.
-
Best to ask customs yourself. Also, depending on the courier service, they will also charge fees.
10%+ would be a reasonable customs tag, though I've seen it at 30% from others. Not to mention the service fee...
It hurts -
my goodness. It's not worth it I guess. I rather go up to Canada and pick it up myself. lol
-
:::
Nearly no one have stock as well, I even don't have
enough stock to fullfill the pre-order.....
::: -
i tried getting one this week and it wasnt in yet either. if anyone has an ETA on the T1s arrival that would be great. it looks like such a slick notebook.
-
I believe that since 2004, computer related equipment being imported from Canada to the US falls under NAFTA. Therefore, no duties are assessed by US Customs.

If that's the case, then thats a good thing
I've been dinged so many times, wish it was like that for us Canucks! -

MysticGolem Asus MVP + NBR Reviewer NBR Reviewer
um... im a little confused to what you guys are saying =\
They have the T1, P1 and S1!!! I wanna go check em all out.
But you guys seem to be saying its an offshore product?
Meaning they get em from over seas? and thus the warranty gets void?
Why are their prices so low and their models numbers are correct?
Do they have the T1, P1 and S1 on demo?
Please let me know
Thanks,
MysticGolem -
Well, they're not even cheaper than stores selling the T1 from Canadian Distributors. The place I got it at had it cheaper, maybe they still have stock.
Check my earlier post.
