How easy is to access the hard drive on the P300? I have been trying to find the location and instructions for hard drive upgrades but have been unable to do so.

Toronto local only it seems. -
That is an awesome deal. I'd be all over it, if I wasn't getting a used W3J for 1/3rd that price.
And if I lived in Toronto...which I don't. -

I've got a nice deal at my local Future Shop for a demo P300 (floor model). It was 999 $ CDN, including the 2 years extended warranty. I picked it right away. So far, I'm quite content with my purchase. I'm a "Mac" guy, but I have to admit this P300 blows away any Mac laptop out there. I'm surprised to note that Vista is quite reliable and performing well although Mac OS X have a slight edge, user friendly wise. Anyhow, I love this P300. For a 13.3 inches laptop, it's really powerful and it's cute too.

I'm heading off on an assignment which will take me away from power sources for extended periods, and accordingly am looking to get an airplane power adapter, and/or an external battery. Several brands are available, offering power tips for most notebook models. But when I check for compatibility I see no mention of LG or the P300.
Does anyone know if the P300 shares a power tip which is interchangeable with any of the other major brands? -
Does anyone in this thread actually own a P300 and know the answer to my question? -
I do own a P300, but I haven't checked the internals diagram. So, I cannot really answer your question regarding the harddisk position. As far as I'm concerned, the 5400 RPM 320 GB harddisk is more than enough, at least for now.
Incidentally last night, I was doing some searches on the 8600m GS and stumbled on an Ebay auction for a 8600m GS part. Amazing, it seems those GPU's are swappable. And the good news is that the new 9600m GT has the same form factor. O.k., there are other things to consider, like heat dissipation (Watts) and BIOS settings as well, but in the near future, such GPU upgrade might be doable. Let's see... -
Wow that's very nice ! I hope someone will do it and inform all of us

I've posted this under the LG P300 review section of Notebook forums, and have yet to receive a response.
Has anyone successfully overclocked their LG P300's 8600m GS using any driver beyond 169.04 (Laptopvideo2go)?
I've tried extracting the video BIOS from the notebook using a variety of third-party tools, but they all fail due to no detection of any present VGABIOS.
It seems that overclocking has been locked on the P300 for any driver beyond 169.04, and I'm having a hard time trying to find a solution to fixing it, seeing as many modern games would benefit from the later 17x series of drivers (without having to edit the system BIOS directly, since if VGABIOS can't be extracted, then it mostly is embedded within the system BIOS, something I'd rather not touch directly).
Everytime I try to apply OC settings using RivaTuner on any driver above 169.04, the settings get reset to default. -
Masterpace? how did you get such a good deal............ I want that....... haha which Futureshop did you go to and how did you manage to get it for that price with 2 year extra warranty for free?
........ I have a good feeling masterpace mistaken P300 with E300.......... no way FS would drop 500 off and add warranty for free......... -
Umm i woke up this morning and found that there is a crack on the left side Bezel of the screen. this does not affect the laptop, but its kind of annoying and i dotn know the long term effects. Ive only had it 3 months also ... Is this covered by futureshop (3 year PSP) or LG? and how long will it take as i will need it for school?
Thanks in advance -
Futureshop has the P300 for $1350 one night only until Oct 28 10AM EST

I've not had any problems which necessitated repairs, but I did find myself in need of accessories (spare battery and charger) and I found Future Shop's after-sale service to be worse than useless.
So I suggest that you go directly to LG. Unfortunately I found their website to be challenging to navigate, and it may take you some time to find the appropriate phone number (and I'm sorry but I don't have it at hand). But you will eventually be able to talk to real people who (in my limited experience) are knowledgeable and helpful. This absolutely should be covered by LG's warranty, and it was my impression that warranty work is outsourced to an independent repair shop.... staffed by real people who answer the phone. So if you're prepared to play nice with them you may be able to expedite things a bit.
Best of luck and please share your experiences. -

another question I see the p300 supports ddr2 800 any big benefit from 667 to 800 speed?
considering I have to upgrade an old laptop with ddr2 thought I would get 800 and swap it with my p300
any opinions? -
I found this thread to be very helpful so thank you guys for all the inputs. I have seen a P300 in my local FS when it was on sale for $1599. I decided to pass it because I didn't fall for it. Since its long departure from FS, I haven't seen it in anywhere else until two weeks ago it appeared on Eseng as a refurbished model asking for $1099. I bought it and didn't regret it when I received th package. The notebook has no physical wearing, and has been running excellently ever since.
