    Hi,
So who have problems to see videos, dvd's with Vista ...I recomand to use and to install KMPlayer 2.9.3.1214 because this player is the best untill now and is free ,is built in codecs so you don't must to install codecs for this player .....and in Vista it must automatic to work wireless lan , audio and to be also instaled automatic the ati x1600 drivers.(sure i took from ati the original drivers for x1600 for vista and i instaled again...and after a restart it was automatic instaled also the Visual C ++ 2005 .Vista is coming with the DirectX 10 .On Vista is working also the Office 2003 (who have this) and Nero 6.1.4....to me is working perfectly and like a antivirus I use Nod32 ....i have now V.Bussiness Edition.

I see, yes colin002 the 5 speakers works when I'm playing DVD's, You must tell to the program that you are going to use S/PDIF. I use in XP Power dvd 7 deluxe.

I'll download the KMPlayer 2.9.3.1214 for vista to see how it works :)

:( :( I'm using LAN wire to connect to the internet now!! It's because one day, when I turned on my computer, all wireless networks seem to be gone! I can't use my Wi-Fi now. :( Is there a place where you can reinstall your driver or download a new one? I tried it on other laptops, they work so it's not the router's problem.
Please help. It's very inconvenient for me now.

And how did you make your wired connection work? Because no one here can... If your wireless connection doesn't work anymore and you've already checked all options in the connections control panel, I suggest you simply reinstall Intel's drivers. It should solve your problem.

Well I can't find any drivers for my Agere card... If you know where to find some, I would really appreciate! ;)

And no, my LAN does not work at all... I've been on wireless since Vista is installed.

I have both the Intel wireless & the Agere wired network working just fine.
I think I'm using old XP drivers until a new Vista one will be out...

@Agere card: Didn't anybody point out that the update service would find a working driver onve Vista is installed?

Can anybody confirm a working Agere Ethernet Card on his/her S1? That is crucial for me since I currently do not have access to a wireless service.

hey ,why you don't think????...in s1 lg is working also wirelles connection and also wired connection(with cable) ......what you must to make is just to get a update for your wired connection to be installed......for this you go in control panel and then click to administrative tools ,then you go to computer managment and then to the left side click to the device manager ...you will see there something with yellow (what is meaning) also if you see something with yellow like something with network ,,agere system ..........,, you just click right mouse button and then ,,update driver software,, and then is getting installed like this and voila will work also internet with cables not just wireless......make like this everything what is ,,missing in yellow color with a sign ! ,,

    good luck!

Huh, lot of people here have problems either with the LAN connections and bluetooth drivers. That's weird, I simply got my Agere system thing off from Windows Update and my Bluetooth thing came up eventually.
Anyways, when I turned on my laptop today, the wireless connection seems to work.

Try typing Windows Update in the Search bar and run it, check for updates. Another MS update is coming up next Tuesday.

Anyway, I like the wicked Search bar, doesn't only search, open programs, open files, search for folders, use it as "Run...", etc. Even works if you type "time" into it to see the clock. XD

Well, the reason why my LAN connection working I think is because I'm on Vista 64-bits. I'll check again Agere's website...

But I use 32-bit and it also works. Just after I got myself Vista (for free ;) ) I was scrolling down the list of updates in one of the Windows Update and I found something saying Agere system on the list.

Well obviously, to XP and also Vista, you have to click on a button something like "See Details" to get the "Details" (the list).

Got my Windows Vista upgrade (Business-Version) today... (I did not order the upgrade through LG - so no LG drivers or applications included)

Hope to post a message through Vista soon.

BTW: What kind of energy control/cpu control do you use now? Does anyone use battery miser? Does the fan controll still work?

    Update:
Worked flawlessly... although you have to get used to Vistas flaws ;)

The fan control still works well but I don't know about the processor speed control when you change the fan speed. There is no battery miser in Vista but of course, Vista has their own version, and it's good enough.
I have another problem, everytime I close my computer cover, when I open it up again, the screen seems to be disabled and I always have to restart my computer or plug in a monitor in. It's soo annoying!

No screenproblem here (using Vista business 32-bit)!

Fan controll seems to work decent although I would like to see visually in which mode the CPU is.

The only thing that I am really missing right now is OSD and full Fn-button function. Everything else works great!

I can't find where to add the finger print device in OmniPass... Am I alone? or blind?

But VERY important, please help me with this: I still can't make my Ethernet controler work. I thought the driver I posted on page would work (in fact, it's installing... almost correctly) but I see it doesn't. Where can I get this dawn driver? Windows Update offers me nothing.

Please guys, I really need your help with this. Thanks a lot!

Device Manager tells me my driver is fine and up to date, but it also gives my an "Error 10: Can't start driver" (well, that's my own translation, it might not be totally exact).

@Ethernet Driver: Try to deavtivate and activate the ethernet card. That helped me. Although the driver through MS update works better.

@Omnipass: No fingerprint reader - so omnipass is almost worthless this way. Is there any other security software that supports the authentec fingerprint reader?

    ____________

I have a problem my onw. When I use the Vista ATI driver that came with the OS, there is no problem with the screen turning off, when I close the lid.
When I use the latest ATI driver the screen does not turn on once I open the lid again.
Anyone who has that problem (I think I have read that before)? Any workaround for the latest driver (currently I went back)?
    update:
<- solved that with a workaround

To find the right drivers, just go to the download software section, choose notebook, choose S1 from the Series drop-down list and then choose Windows Vista from the O/S list. Click on Search and there would be 3 pages of drivers and softwares.
By the way, I love the On-Screen Display back!! :D The volume bar has smaller blocks now.

It is a shame that BatteryMiser is now exactly the same as WindowsMobileCenter. The only thing that is different is the extra option to change the battery charging mode. But since this can be changed in the BIOS I decided to uninstall BM...

How did you manage to get a LAN driver through the MS update? Did you just enable auto updates, or did you use the Windows update using the browser?

Disabling and enabling the network adapter helped me too. After that, it kept working for good. I was also very surprised about this behavior, but hey, it's Windows after all ;-) Just go to the Device Manager, right click [disable] and then [enable] it again after a while...

I have an S1 pro express dual...i recently upgraded to vista ultimate. Had a lot of driver issues but thanks to this thread ive completely updated my drivers. Firstly for all the beginners i'd like u to download all the drivers provided on the LG update. Install all the drivers n softwares except the sound drivers and omnipass. The omnipass software provided by Lg doesn't detect the fingerprint reader so after breakin my head i finally found a way around it..download the omnipass demo version AND THE AUTHENTEC PLUGIN...(this is very important) from here

    http://www.softexinc.com/selecttrialos.asp

Now install the demo version and then install the plugin (authentec.exe). Restart ur pc when asked to. Now immediately uninstall the omnipass demo version and install the omnipass software provided by LG. Restart when asked to do so to ensure a safe install. Now run the enrollment wizard and voila ur fingerprint device works!

Those of u who have installed the realtek driver given by LG may have noticed that the SRS function doesnt work although it keeps switchin on n off when the button's pressed. I think there is a problem with the driver so when i did a fresh install, instead of installing the driver given, I installed the one given on the realtek website.. ftp://202.65.194.211/pc/audio/Vista_R161.zip
If it still doesnt work goto control panel, open sounds and audio devices, check the settings of the speakers and in that check the SRS tab and whether its enabled. These are the main problems i faced during my upgrade so I just thought of helping the needy out...Took a hell lotta time to figure the omnipass thing out..If u have ny queries or questions jus ask...ill b happy to reply..

Some good utilities to install after u r done are ccleaner, registry mechanic n diskeeper 11 ... will boost ur performance alot!!

    Hello!

The thing about the Realtek problem might have already been solved in this 10-paged thread. Anyway, the link provided in this thread has a newer version than the one LG gave us on their site, and the SRS works with the buttons perfectly.

And thanks for the advice for the Omnipass thing, I'll try it out. ;)

UPDATE-2: Here is the LINK for the good Realtek driver.

My Direct Media button doesn't seem to work in Windows even though I have installed the driver and stuff from the www.lge.com.au site. Also, I can't find the icon in the Control Panel like it used to be in XP. Can anybody help me?

By the way, I am noticing my stickers on my laptop, Designed for Windows XP and ATI has dirty and loose sides. Only the Intel sticker is still good as new. :p

hey, new in the forum! great threat btw
I got a LG P1 Express Dual. I used to have the same problems as you did, but fixed all of them

for those who cant make the FINGERPRINT SENSOR to work with omnipass. You have to INTALL THE FINGERPRINT DRIVER (from authentec) BEFORE YOU INSTALL OMNIPASS 5.

I got all drivers installed and running fine, except the SRS WOW, and the LG INTELLIGENT UPDATE.

have you got any idea if this is going to be released for Vista, and when?
bcouse it´s very helpfull to keep ur drivers up to date.

I managed to intall LG Intelligent update on vista (the XP version), but it doesnt work propperly: it dosnt show any drivers installed or updates, so its useless
