I think maybe during that Labor Day Sale.. they overstocked for this past weekend and maybe that's the reason for the fast shipments

I was under the impression the chasis was the same...

The differentiating factor between a T61 and T61p being only the graphics card and screen?

If this is the case, as long as you have the LCD and graphics card - you should be set.

 

I'm posting this message with my newly received t61p It's been out of the box for less than 30 minutes!

Ordered on 8/28/07, shipped on 9/02/02, received today 9/04/07. This packaged traveld from Hong Kong to Korea to Alaska to Kentucky to my house in Alabama in 2 days...Amazing!

I'm thinking about a clean install now because it does come with a lot of bloatwares. And now I'm just trying to type as much as possible because this keyboard feels soooo good. So good. So so good. I can type all day long.... ALL DAY LONG!!

I ordered today and realized that I forgot the Microsoft Office small business. Estimated shipping date is 9/21. I haven't been able to get through on the phones. Should I just place another order tonight and cancel my first order tommorrow when I can get through hopefully? I just didn't want to lose out on the discount.

 

Suggest you order a new one today and cancel your previous order first thing tomorrow, as these things are shipping out fast !!

Somehow Lenovo has managed to change my billing information; specifically my name.

It was correct last night; woke up this morning and it was different. The addresses are the same, but the billing name is different.

It never ceases to amaze me how much we, as customers, put up with a company as terrible as Lenovo. From their delays to their incompetent CSRs, we still come back for more.

Hopefully my ESD isn't pushed back, or even worse I loose the discount.

Good to hear some of you are getting your systems shipped. For the rest, all we can do is hope a multi-billion dollar, fourth largest computer manufacturer, ships our order within the next few weeks.

(Dell could have had my order with their M4300, but put the little 360M instead of the 570M - what were they thinking?!)

(also ordered a lenovo thinkpad serial ata hard drive bay adapter - storage bay adapter since I plan to put the HDD it comes with in there and upgrade the main HDD to a 7k200 drive using the 120 gig drive for VPC images and other data)

Some new info for those that are waiting:

After ~1 hour on hold, I spoke to someone that seemed to know what was going on. He said, for my unit, it was the display (WXSGA) that was holding up the order. He said chances are that they were able to build some of the others and shipped them out right away.

He said it may ship in two days, as they expect to receive the displays and ship.

As for the ESD, he said it will always be at least one week from the time of order. He also said it may ship sooner based on the way components come in (this is a bit of a duh statement) but they set the ESD based they state at the time of ordering (for me it was 1-2 weeks)

My shipment which was scheduled for delivery today (9/5), has been re-scheduled for tomorrow due to 'customs clearance' on Ups' site. That stinks!

i don't believe that is correct. Some had one at 8:30am, some at 10:30am, and I believe one person said they had a notification at 9:30pm.

Guys..sorry For The bold...but Just Wanted To Bring Attention...there Are Many Theories As To Why 1 Order Ships Faster Than Another...but It Has To Do With The Screens...nothing Else

 

I didn't think there were different screens for the x61. I know the x61s has an ultralight option though.

 

size also matters...availability for 12 inch screens and 14 inch xga screens may be different

 

I'm not surprised...because I think there's a shortage worldwide for screens.

i hope so. i placed my order on 8/12. and my ESD was 8/30, and it got pushed back to 9/17. nothing happened yet so i called today, they cancelled my order, and i re-ordered.

i got a free bluetooth upgrade, and expedited shipping. but im still concerned about when it'll actually ship. it seems like 9/5 was a major ship day, and i missed out. hopefully they continue shipping throughout the week.

Date Shipped: When I called today (9/5/07) to see if I could make a minor change; I was told that it is "on the conveyer belt being manufactured" - thus any changes would require cancelling the order and starting anew. I wasn't told the expected wait time from this point to actual shipment.

So, likely shipped between 7 -14 days as advertised, I think.

BTW, my account still states "Est. Ship Date 9/18/07" So, maybe this does not get updated until it actually gets shipped?
