This will be my first Think Pad. Always had Dells before. In fact I ordered a D830 with a similiar config except it had a Quadro 135 with 128. Dell Notified me on 8/31 that my order would not ship and the new est ship date was 9/7, so I cancelled the order and ordered the T61P at basically the same price. A day later I got an email from Dell saying my order shipped. It's on it's way.

Now I have a decision to make. Accept the Dell and cancel the T61P or return the Dell and wait for the T61P and hope it ships on a sooner than 9/19.

 

I'd definitely stick with the t61p.

I guess I'll be cancelling my original order. Ironically I just got the default "Your Order has been delayed between 1 and 30 days" email on my original July order. Once I have this ThinkPad in my hands, I'll cancel the other order. I put Express Shipping on this baby, so hopefully I'll have it by tomorrow or Wednesday! If I wasn't so hung over from the party I went to last night, I'd be more excited.

At this rate maverik, it's just a matter of time. They don't seem to be doing "bulk shipments" like they did with the initial T61p's. It's more like they ship them out individually as soon as its built, so it ultimatley depends on where you are in the order queue and how quickly your credit card's pre-auth process completed. I have a feeling you'll be getting yours shipped before this week is over. Especially if you ordered during the first two days. Just hang in there. I've been waiting since July, so to finally see that "SHIPPED" status on my order page is a long time coming. Too bad it wasn't for the first order.

 

haha true. Compared to you I've been waiting far less...I'm wondering if it had to do with the processor...it seems those who ordered the same day as me but ordered the T7500 got there's first...you've ordered the T7700 and shipped second. Regardless, I'm confident that mine will ship within the next couple days.

Edit: Wow the shipment's fast! It went from Hong Kong to Korea to Louisville in...well..5 hours...But I think that's because of the timezone difference haha. I've heard some bad things about Louisville, but I think it'll be here by this Thursday.

Can't wait! It's been a long time coming for some of us! For those of you still waiting, just hang in there. It doesn't seem the supply issues that plagued the first round of T61p's are going to be a problem in the near forseeable future. As for some getting theres before others, it has a lot to do with many things...

Did you Card pre-auth immediately? If your card company has to call to confirm the purchase you made, that takes more time then someone who's CC doesn't require it, thus they get in the order queue a split second sooner.

Did you call to make ANY changes to the order... even shipping changes? Lenovo doesn't seem to have the greatest order system in the world, as nearly any modification takes your order and shoves it to the end of the line.

Just hang in there guys... and may the Force be with you!

 

All of you guys waiting for the WSXGA+ machines who ordered last week: you shouldn't expect anything sooner than your ESD. Just hope. Odds are that it will ship within a long week.
We're lucky anything is shipping within 60 days, as seen by all of us who ordered a WUXGA machine in July and received nothing even yet.

Ordered 8/31, received this morning on 9/4. T61p, WSXGA+ (gorgeous), T7500, etc.

Building the rescue and recovery factory DVD set right now. I'll test that it works on another hard drive then pull the 1GB stick, add 4GB OCZ memory, pull the 80GB hard drive, add the 200GB 7200 rpm drive and install Windows Vista Ultimate x64.

Did you switch your old, delayed WUXGA t61p order for this order to get it this quick? I ordered on the 30th and the ESD is 9/18

 

I think the majority of people (myself included) just made a new order and cancelled the old.

It took 2 days for them to ship my wsxga+ from the time I ordered..I dont think 'switching' any order will help get it fulfilled faster than that.

 

I see majority of the orders that were shipped were mostly T61 models...compared to the other models which are not shipped yet...

 

Yes, and I'm glad I did. I have a Dell with WUXGA and after I ordered the orginal T61p, I started thinking I'd rather have WSXGA+ like the T60p widescreen I have for work. It was a no brainer for me (with my bad eyes).

I originally ordered the system on 8/15/07 but had to go thru a 3 day cancellation, because their webserver didn't accept my 'uspsummer' coupon. Per their sales rep, customized a new system, applied the coupon and converted it to a quote (good for 30 days). Pushed the quote to an order on 8/30, supposedly shipping out today. I am surprised that it came thru so quickly.

 

Nice to know someone that ordered a x61 had theirs shipped. I am still waiting on mine (placed 8/29). Jrdba, what processor did you order for your x61?

 

How did everyone place their orders (phone or website)? I'm starting to wonder if orders placed over the phone get processed faster than those placed through the website.

Just a thought... can't really think of any other reason why some orders would get shipped faster than others.

To whomever received their laptop...the T61P with WSXGA+ screen. Did you in fact get a T61p or a T61? I called and they told me I ordered the T61, when in fact it was the T61p. Further inquiring, they told me that in fact it is a T61p because of the graphics card. That raises the question to all of you who have received it, does it say on the laptop in white letters under the screen..T61, or T61p? I have a slight bad suspicion that they may be putting these cards in the T61 chassis. The lady on the phone told me that it will say T61P, but she was not 100% sure. Can anybody can shed some light on this? Lastly, to whomever has it, how is the brightness on the new WSXGA+, and overall satisfaction of the unit?

 

I think it has to do with the LCD screens that determine the shipping date...looks like they have an overstock of sxga+ screens
