That's a problem for me. Lenovo-US does not accept international credit cards even though it will be shipped to a
US address. They also don't accept paypal. I guess I might miss the promo. Thanks for your reply...

Exactly my point, I have no clue what the hell is going on. This might sound stupid as f**k, but I'll do a complete reinstall of Windows, drivers, and the game itself, then see what's up.

    I don't doubt it. The 660M isn't that great at 1080p..

Neither is the 755. I would say this is a great card for 720p, and is decent at 900p (which is why Y410p>Y510p imho), however it is not good enough for 1080p, which is where SLI comes in.

Which would mean the 460M could best it if the native resolution on the 460M machine was lower, which is what I said. I am trying to figure out why you were disagreeing.

Nevemind OP just said 460M is at 1080p. 755 should win by a mile when resolution is the same.

    Maybe 755M is throttling?

    Hey guys!
I am thinking about buying an y510p with SLI 750M to replace my Asus G73JH with ATi 5870M.
However I heard that there is/were problems with this model. Can anybody give my a list for what should I look out when I purchase ?

Also I heard that there is micro stuttering when playing, this would be a problem for me, since I hate stuttering. Is this really noticeable and has it been fixed with the latest Nvidia drivers+vBIOS+Windows 8.1 ?

    Thanks for the answers.

There were wifi and track pad issues, both of which seem to have been fixed. No idea of the word on stuttering, though.

Btw, is it worth buying one now, when Maxwell is just around the corner?

I don't think a laptop around the same price with Maxwell will be out before April and I would not like to wait 4+ months :(

Only need to get some input on the stuttering now issue now ...

Btw after updating vBIOS+os to Win 8.1+with the latest NVidia driver in SLI the performance is better, worse or about the same in games and benchmarks ?

Microstuttering starts becoming noticeable at around 30-40 FPS and below depending on your sensitivity to it. You won't see it when FPS is higher.

Coming from a fellow G73JH owner who upgraded to a Y500 early this year, I can tell you there is a massive increase in gaming performance, easily 2x or more. With my overclocked Mobility 5870, I used to average 45 FPS in BF3 at 900p Low. Now my overclocked 650M SLI gets me 70 FPS at 1080p High/Ultra.

My first SLI version from back in July was very warm on the hands since the heat flows out both the left and right side. I had no issues with the wifi card but the touchpad was not very good at all. The screen was also a matte screen and I purchased it from Microcenter here in Michigan. I bought a second one in November, again from Microcenter and it ran just as warm but the trackpad seemed better and still no wifi issues. Also got another Matte screen. Seems all other retailers are shipping with glossy screens. There were some dark corners around the screen and some backlight bleeding but nothing that I would consider out of the norm. My Microcenter version did not have the 24GB SSD installed nor was there a connector on the board to install one.

Good question, I am interested too. Also, does forcing SLI work with y510p too? Some people using desktop SLI reported ~10 FPS gain by forcing SLI.

BTW I recived my laptop SLI 750M Y510p bought on Amazon, got matte screen and it looks pretty cool, I tought it would look kinda washed out because of the matte.

I updated Nvidia drivers via Geforce Experience to 331 and everything seems to be fine. Still on Windows 8, not 8.1.

I'm playing Farcry 3 with almost everything on ultra/high (like 2 things on medium) and AA off with around 50 fps.

Thanks, also do you know what the difference is between the two, I know the Intel® Wireless-N 7260 (802.11bgn) is better but I just wanted an idea of how much of an improvement it is.

    Seriously?

Upgraded to the latest Intel drivers after having issues on both Dlink and Netgear routers. That improved the situation but regardless it would randomly stop responding while playing games or surfing the web so I just updated the bios with the modded version and installed a 6235 (also have a 7260) and it works without an issue.

Also, there are numerous complaints on this forum about the flaky behavior of the stock card.

    Cheers,

Can anyone comment on the build quality of the display, the model I am planning to get states that it is 15.6" FHD LED Glare Wedge 1920x1080, does that just mean it is glossy? And if so, is anyone having problems with it being reflective as opposed to a matte screen? Is the laptop with gloss screen usable outside? Can anyone post some pictures with the y510p under different lighting conditions? Also I have heard that sometimes the models are shipped with matte screens anyways or that they stopped making them in gloss?

100% untrue. I just got my y510p yesterday (Full HD Glare Wedge) and it's glossy.

Only the y510p's during the first month or so of release had the matte display.

Yeah, heard it's one of the better TN panels on the market. 700:1 contrast and FHD resolution, decent horizontal viewing angles (though poor verticals due to TN).
