Yo Blaze, just try calling the guy I emailed you. Shouldn't have any problems getting the dual graphics version for about $1100

Thanks. -
Now that I think about it, it's possible I may have been lucky enough to have been transferred to the very same guy you are speaking of. Or maybe just another sales rep who was kind enough to give me big savings.

Hey guys, first time poster here.
Have a few quick questions for the people who have already received there sexy new y510p.
- Can the led lights on the keyboard be dimmed or even switched off?
- If I get the Newegg model with the mSATA SDD and I want to switch out the drive for another SDD (which I have) is it just a matter of swapping it out like a normal laptop drive or will I have to also remove the mSATA SDD? Not sure if it's connected to the mechanical drive.
Other than that congrats to the new owners, looks like a great piece of kit. -
You can dim and and even turn off the keyboard light on the Y500 with Fn + Spacebar shortcut. So its probably the same for Y510p.
BTW, have any Y510p owner identify if it is really slimmer? If then, what about the Ultra Bay parts? are the same ones of the thicker Y500? cuz that sounds weird o.o -

That being said, I would still like that contact number of the guy so I can get the best deal! -

Those high 3DMark 11 scores reported by the Y510p owners seem way off. They're like 600 points higher than they should be. I'm still trying to wrap my head around how a 650 SLI system overclocked past 750M SLI speeds scores 200 points less. The only thing I can come up with is a fluke in the drivers. It would be interesting to see if they still get such a high score in 320.18. I've seen this sort of thing in the past but that was a long time ago. In any case, if Y510p owners would validate their scores with GPU-Z screenshots or sensor readings that would be good.

The Liteon model number is: liteonit LSS-24L6G. -

The part is nowhere on their website. Very unique...
Ughh... A NEW form factor called NGFF for now... Read here for more info
Plextor Introduces mSATA, NGFF, TLC and Power Protection SSDs at CES Las Vegas 2013 | The SSD Review
I'm hating that I forked over $180 for an msata already. I might have to keep the Y500 afterall. Decisions decisions... -
-
Here's a screenshot of the drive in Intel RST with the model number. I will have to open it up sometime later and snap some pics of the actual stickers on the stick and the slot. I was using a fullframe camera and it has shallow DOF(for you camera geeks...) for the comparison pic with an intel 80gb MSATA drive. -
-
Well this really suck, looks like there's not much on the market for the ngff drives, would be nice if a msata drive would fit but I dough it, this kind of changes everything for the y 410p/510p, with support waiting to be launched I guess you guys can only upgraded the 2.5 inch drive.
-
I guess m.2 and NGFF are the same? This is all new to me. There's a lot of stuff at Computex about it. So the question is, does the current slot allow for the longer version too or is it just the short version. And the next question is, what capacity can the short versions have? From what I'm reading, the data transfer rates can hit 700, which is double the mSata capacity. I'd be willing to buy another drive as long as a 256GB will fit in the current slot. I really don't want to remove the 1TB because I like having the space for media but I might just have to and then put my current msata in a 2.5" converter. I definitely don't want to chuck the msata drive I just bought a month ago lol.
Edit: Another informative article. http://www.tweaktown.com/news/30866/plextor-prepares-m-2-ngff-at-computex-taipei-2013/index.html
Kudos to Lenovo for jumping into the future. Sucks for me because of my dilemma though.

Lol, just thinking about it right now, people that are getting the new y510p thinking it comes with a msata drive. I can already see it, y510p sucks thread containing post on lenovo decision on choosing ngff over msata, but from what I'm reading its a lot better tech.

Can someone confirm if the battery life for this laptop actually approaches 5 hours under normal use? (I guess it would be longer for a model with a DVD drive than with SLI?)
Also, can I get this mysterious rep's info at [email protected] ? Thanks! -

I'll probably stick my crucial mSata in this and replace the TB HDD until they come up with a higher capacity drive to fit in the slot. -
Hey, thanks again Sonu. I talked to that guy today, he said he would straighten everything out and give me the same deal. He was actually being honorable and said he would go talk to the girl that originally took my order so that she would be able to keep the sale instead of rebooking it and taking credit for it from me. Pretty noble I thought!
-
So, just to verify for those who have the y510p, we CANNOT install a normal msata ssd drive into the y510p as there is no place to mount it properly, correct? It will only fit the new "ngff" form ssd drives (that are yet to come out)?
Thanks Xentar712 for the possible solution, but I was really hoping to keep the 1TB HDD and keep the crucial m4 msata 256gb ssd I just bought. Sucks cause the full refund period just ended a day or two ago for my msata ssd. . -
Could you send me that reps info too? My email is [email protected]. Thanks for posting that deal man.
