I think I'm feeling the effects of the holiday. My origin scan was sunday night 4/29 in China.......It's still in China. No new location scans since sunday.
-
Where are your laptops shipped from?
From my tracking info, mine is shipped from Hongkong. From what I read, some were shipped from Shanghai. I am thinking if the screen, keyboard, and etc are related to the different factory locations. -
Hi everybody,
I ordered mine x60s yesterday ( april 30 ) at 10:00 AM and arrived this morning ( may 1st ) at 9:30 AM
cool little lappy !! -
Well, My delay in customs lasted closer to 12 hours than up to 48. It's here in Anchorage, and is out for delivery. I should have it by this afternoon!!
-
Does any one know the answer to this question?
If you customize your T60 with the ATi X1400 graphics card, do you automatically get the LG screen? -
Hmm...I customized mine with the ATi X1400 and got the LG screen... I do believe Hotboy ordered his with the X1400 at first and got the Samsung at first. I'm not 100% sure on that though. But I know for a fact he got the Samsung screen, then returned it and got the LG screen. (He bought his through buy.com though) -

Good News: Tracking my T60 using the handy UPS Shipment Tracker, my laptop is merely 100 miles away at this point and, presumably, it will be delivered as scheduled on May 4. I order it on the afternoon of April 24, so all things considered, that is pretty outstanding service.
Bad News: It appears I have both the least desirable keyboard (ALPS) and the least desirable screen (Samsung), both of which are very important to me because my workday is often spent typing away.
I have read through some of the archives here, but I am curious to get some fresh perspective. Keeping in mind that I am moving from a Dell 5100 (which does not have a great keyboard), should I be "pre-emptively disappointed" and just send it back unopened? Give it a try? Look into ordering and self-installing the NMB? -
-
I can also confirm the labour day holiday in China as someone mentioned earlier.
Edit: As an aside, Jonathon is probably the best customer service representative I've ever dealt with. -
My UPS tracking info shows an "export scan" in GUANGZHOU China on April 30 at 11:35 A.M. Do you think that it made it out before the holiday.
How long does it take to show up as a U.S. scan after the last China Scan? -
Also, my Thinkpad finally arrived! Shipped 4/28, held for 12 hours in Ontario, arrived at 11am on 5/1. -
-
I believe the Chicony is the worst, ALPS being the middle, but still good. At least that was the impression I was under from reading the reviews and such on here. -
Refined ~ Check the sticky in this forum, which contains a link to the Lenovo Parts page to input your serial number and part number ... the serial number is on the invoice, the "part number" is a little tricky, because it is the four digits of the "part number."

I've used and seen numerous Samsung flat panels and they produce some quality LCD's.
Lol let's try this again:
1) Do they explode after 4 hours of usage?
2) Do they develop hundreds of dead pixels within 4 hours?
3) Is the text totally unreadable?
4) Are the colors off?
In other words what's so bad about having a Samsung display in your Thinkpad? -
Well, I'm typing this message on my new T60!!! I missed the delivery today, so went and called UPS to arrange for pick-up, but they told me only lenovo could arrange for that. So I called up Johnathan and he took care of that for me, but told me I wouldn't be able to pick it up until tomorrow. But I decided to call UPS anyway, and see if I could pick it up today, and I could! So I'm extremely, extremely happy right now! No more IM + Internet + music all on my pda with 11MB of ram!!

Hi, everyone!
I ordered my T60 on April 27, and the original shipping date was May 1st. But now it became May 15, which is two weeks later! Hope it will ship some time before that.
Mine is 2007C4U, which was an older model on sale at their surplus outlet. Why does it take so long for a preconfigured machine to ship?
Thank you! -
I found both sides complaining of shimmering and backlight leakage. Which leads me to believe both suppliers may have had a run of bad displays. Most of the complaints came from Dell customers. -
I think I am with Rod on this one ... It seems to be that the screen analysis itself has been subjective, inconsistent, and subject to variables beyond the manufacturer of the screen. Of course, I was intrigued to learn that I can calibrate my screen (yes, I know ... I am merely stopping by from the remedial group). At a bare minimum, I am reserving judgment on the screen until I fire up the engines ... which should be tomorrow.

I'll say this Samsung is known around the world as one of the top producers of flat panel displays. Their LCD/HDTV usually always get high grades. I've used their LCD monitors and have never had any issues with them. LG is also a company who is known for high quality products too. The bottom line is i'm not too concerned which one I get. The comment Jonathan made regarding both displays being of equal or similar quality seems to me as a fair assessment. -
I agree with you, bluesman and Rodknee. It was too late last night to type more. Just hope that I get a good screen no matter which brand.
Here is another link here on IBM/Lenovo forum on WS screen FYI

Got new info on mine. It's not hung up in China for the holiday. I'm so relieved!!

what does this mean?
"THE SHIPMENT IS BEING HELD BY BROKERAGE FOR REASONS BEYOND UPS' CONTROL"
***
I called IBM and they told me US Custom holds random packages and they can keep it up to 5 days and this one is one of those , my shipping date was 05/12/07 but they shipped it 04/30/07 -
My T60 with 15.4' WSXGA+ TFT is here!
Ordered 4/26, est. ship 5/22.
Shipped 4/30, and delivered 5/02 10:00 am.
It's super fast, considering it is from HK to USA! When I lookup the parts with SN, I still get a "Our apologies...". So I still do not know what's inside. -
-
Most people in this thread who have had theirs delivered have found that...
"THE SHIPMENT IS BEING HELD BY BROKERAGE FOR REASONS BEYOND UPS' CONTROL"
...is mostly meaningless as far as delivery times are concerned. They reported getting it sooner than they thought they would. They checked the tracker one day and got the evil message, the the next day or two found that it was out for delivery. -
Mine arrived three days after that message so don't worry too much.
-
Called Lenovo today and talked to Chris (female type) and asked her to check on the inventory allocation for my laptop. In other words, is it going to be further delayed from the 05/10 ship date they sent me.
She said that all the parts have been allocated and it would be shipped on time. She claimed that since I ordered a T60p the parts were being priority allocated to that model. Sounded like BS to me.
I'm still considering canceling because of the Santa Rosa release, but then I may wait till I get it and see if I get an LG screen; otherwise, send it back and re-order. -
Yeah, the brokerage thing just means it's being held up in customs. Don't worry though, mine was only held up there for about 14 hours...

It kinda frustrates me since I've got Vista and XP on another pc, and Vista actually loads a bit faster than XP...
I've also got a few software issues I have to figure out. All of which can be attributed to Vista... Can't run Trillian Pro (but basic works fine), and for some reason, even though firefox is my default browser, it actually isn't. Links from other programs tend to open in IE instead.. -
I have the same problem with slow startup time with T7200 and 2Gb RAM. Disabled some startup programs and fingerprint scanner but it didn't boot up much faster. It's even slower than my old E1705 with Core Duo and 1Gb RAM. Anybody has any idea what the problem is? I also cannot update AVG 7.5 and it took a while to update the drivers with System Update 3...

I called today Lenovo to check status on my order they said that because of the screen my order is still in waiting list
Ordered on 4/24
Est. ship 5/18
PS. What I dont understand is that some people like Toucan ordered after me, and already received their laptops, with same screen as mine. Like some of you already said that T60p is going like a priority, but mine is P version, and they are saying that it will be shipped not earlier then estimated date. -
What exactly is slow: bios load section or OS?
T7200 with 2GB and I believe that you also got 7200 RPM HDD
This conf should FLY!!! -
I did not ask for fingerprint scanner in my config. Maybe that makes the difference? Although we all got priority, we might be waiting in different lines. The line for those without fingerprint scanner was much shorter, so I got mine much faster. Just a wild guess. Or, someone at Lenovo mistakenly put my order into the super high priority line? I swear I never called them on shipping. -
My T60 is a pre-configured model 2007C4U ordered on April 27, but still scheduled to ship May 15. Don't know what happened to thier inventory. The shipping date seems to be randomly.
-
I feel ya. That happened to me when I ordered my T60...about 1 or two others on here who ordered the same screen and were CTO models went out before me.. Pissed me off majorly. I really don't know why that happens though. -
-
-
I'm in pretty much the same boat as tadem is; ordered April 25th, estimated ship according to the online status is the 21st (the guy I talked to at Lenovo said either the 14th or 15th). I ordered through SPP, but still, I don't get it...
All this is starting to make me wonder if it's even worth waiting this long as I'm currently PC-less and needed it this week...
Meh. -
-
Who knows if they're still working on the orders during the labor day holidays?
-
Yeah, that's what I'm wondering a little bit as well. My hunch is that they're taking this whole week off (try doing that over in the US ) and we may not see any progress till it's over.
Oh well, nothing to do but wait I suppose. So, what are you guys doing while you wait for your T60's?
How long did your T60 take to ship
