I've actually have a friend with the 510p, it's pretty slick, but he runs hot and has no battery life what so ever. Keyboard felt plasticy and flimsy compared to the P25W.

Guys do you know how infinity and Nissan are the same company, VW and Audi are the same company, and Hyundai and Kia are the same company. Well msi, gigabyte, segar, and one more I can't remember the name, they are all together but different branding, so just letting you guys know if you get any of those brands, your gonna get the same quality. At the end of the day it's just about preference. I'm sure you guys all see the similarity among those Laptops but each company adds it's own little touch to stand out
-
That doesn't really ring true. Which one of the following would you like to own:
Fiat or (Alfa Romeo, Chrysler, Dodge, Ferrari, Jeep, Lancia, Maserati)
Volkswagen or (Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche)
It's all about building a product suitable for the specific market. They are all "Quality" (I hate that word as it's is so misused) products.
Quality means "fit for purpose"
Are Fiat and a Ferrari designed for the same purpose? No.
Are they both fit for the purpose they were intended to serve? Yes
Same with these machines. In my mind the P35K is the Ferrari, and the segar / clevo are the fiats of the laptop world.WhiteBoySHady likes this. -

Sorry for the long delay in response but I have been busy. I have been having a hard time getting Battlefield 4 to work on my P35K. I have briefly tried some other games and they work fine. I'm sure it's a combination between EA/DICE's ty coding and nvidia optimus. I've tried everything else under the sun and nothing seems to help.

Ridiculous that the CF1 is held up at customs for so long

I noticed the mk1 still had those center feet (saw them in your first video) but they may have been slightly smaller--I couldn't tell.

I have a question for P35K owners: how does the Nvidia Geforce 765m show up? It's not showing not in Windows device manager (and I'm running it plugged in so it should kick in). When I run the Gigabyte Smart update to update the Nvidia drivers I get:
"Nvidia installer cannot continue
This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware"
Clicking on the installed Nvidia utility said that it could not detect a Nvidia card on the system.
I upgraded to Win 8.1 and have spent about 6 hours installing my software, configuring Windows and getting the latest drivers on. However, I seem to be missing .... one of the main reasons advertised reasons for buying the laptop. I've updated the BIOS to the latest offered and have tied booting with the 'enable 3D graphics' option on and off. No dice; no Nvidia card. Am I missing something? Please, I really don't want to send a 2nd unit back, with another long afternoon lost. -

Contact them right away for a replacment
I'm sure if you open the laptop you will not see it there -
Use an earlier version. Its a driver issue. The hardware is on board so can't be removed.

for your cf2 what were the specs you got ?? can you post a pic of the box specs and post it please ?

Yes, did as you said and sure enough there was a "Intel(R) Xeon(R) Processor E3-1200 v3/4th GenCore Processor PCI Ecpress x16 Controllder -0C01" with yellow exclamation mark in Device manager. Uninstalled it and sure enough - '3D graphics' which quickly turned into NVIDIA Geforece GTX 765M. Installing drivers now. Thank you very much. I had read from page 95-118 of the P34 thread but hadn't seen that tip.
I was playing with the Intel Extreme tuning utility and have clocked the laptop up to 3.4 instead of 3.2 max turbo and have notched up all the multipliers of hte active cores by 2 notches. The system runs at 90C when running the Intel CPU stress test and drops down to 48C pretty quickly when idle. Happy with that. -
Question; how much extra real word performance can I expect if I add another 8Gb RAM module? I had forgotten about the single/double channel performance issue when I chose the 8Gb version. I use Adobe Lightroom and RAM usage doesn't usually top 6Gb, but I could use any extra speed that the dual channel RAM brings. Is it worth spending £61 on going to 16Gb or it it a synthetic speed increase that isn't much real world usage? CT102464BF160B - 8GB, 204-pin SODIMM , DDR3 PC3-12800 from Crucial.com Thoughts?
-
You'll see only a bonus of 10-15% at most. You might see a boost going form 8 gigs to 16 gigs though depending on what applications you're running. The more RAM you have the merrier even if you don't use it all. That memory should be fine, I think the stock RAM runs at 1.5v but the crucial ram should be compatible. -

gaming wise 1-2 fraps
video editing 7-10 seconds faster encoding
as in normal usage not a single diff -
Good to see someone has gotten one of these in good condition after the repackaging debacle. I've been holding off until I saw how that sorted itself out.
One other thing that has been giving me pause is the battery life. From the sounds of it the p34g is pretty terrible battery-wise. What kind of performance are you getting on the p35k with moderate use (50% brightness, browsing, etc. etc.)? I understand this is still new to you so I can wait a while for an answer.
Or if anyone else can weigh in . . . ? Thanks! -

A metal bracket in front of the battery? Does it extend across the ODD opening?
-
Huh, comparing this to the one on page 79... Looks like the bit under the battery (front of palm rest area) was some sort of black plastic before. Now looks to be aluminum?

Definitely looks different. Just below the battery at front.

Edit - I've had the laptop sitting beside me switched on with just battery power and when I checked just now it said there was 6 hours 7 mins left and 75% power remaining. Go figure. -
well guys, i don't know what to say and i don't want to discourage anyone since i hat the P35K as my 1st option to buy but it seems like the only think changed was the packaging and nothing else..i know that our mind want to think that was also some reinforcement in the chassis of the notebook but it seems i wasn't. I just post this on the Gigabyte website: ""Hey Gigabyte! Can you made a statement in which to clarify the things changed about the P35K? Are there any improvement made at the chassis of the notebook or just the packaging changed?..I guess people are really interested about this thing and you answer will be much appreciated and will help them making a decision..and please give a complete answer for once..not use evasive answers.. thanks!"" and this was the answer: ""Our apologies if you feel we have been evasive. We have always maintained the packaging issue. We are quite confused about the evasive nature that you mention. To re-state - We have changed the packaging of the notebook ensuring that it will not be damaged during shipment. We are confident that as users purchase the P35K, they will notice the new and improved packaging which keeps their notebooks well protected."" so, as i stated at the beginning..nothing but packaging changed..i'm disappointed.. :/
-
-
well, maybe they say but since Gigabyte is the manufacturer and not they i think the word of Gigabyte has more weight in this statement..you can look to follow the lines stated above on their facebook posts. And to be honest i think that if they would really changed the manufacturing process they will praise with that not infirm it since there are many users (in fact all i guess) who would hope and wish for that to happen...

We will find out when gentech reviews the video of the rev 2.0 model and they will probably open it from the housing to see what they changed. Either way I'm getting it so I can't complain cause I need a computer ASAP
-
so..i wrote on their facebook again JonathonW what u wrote above ((Overclockers UK said "Gigabyte have change both the manufacturing process and packaging on all future P35k shipments, so the issues they had will no longer be present." )) and this was their answer: ""Unfortunately, we cannot comment on that information. We would like to reiterate our statement, this is a packaging issue that has been addressed and we are confident that the hairline phenomenon should be solved with the help of new packaging.
Thank you.""
So even if it sounds bad for us i think this is the truth sadly. Again, i looked for this not because i wanted to discourage anyone from buying the P35K since i was a potential buyer too, just wanted to find & offer an accurate information about the real facts.. -
We all know that last one just can't be accurate (it was probably idling) so we'll just have to wait for someone to do a test. *cough*you*cough*

Wish someone had the two actual models to compare. Those previous pictures are one thing but being able to physically inspect this supposed new metal support is what's needed.

Gberg if u would bother to read what i told with proved facts and answers from Gigabyte then maybe u would understood more.."those guys" that u talk about are from Gigabyte, and i suppose they know better than the resellers..whatever, it's strange how some people can find offensive a simple act meant to help..and make nonsense comments..
WhiteBoySHady - that also broke my heart so.. gimme 5 bro)

EDIT: I got a reply from gigabyte: "We hope it reaches US resellers - third week of Nov." Which means that if it reaches late that week we won't see these laptops until early December due to the Thanksgiving holiday. Also since I won't be around my shipping address on the holiday there's a good chance that the package will be just sitting at my doorstep for a couple of days. Maybe it's time to look at ultraportables with a 750m.
