    1) Glossy screen.
    2) It won't be cheap. Starting price of $1500. This is with Core i5.

I am pretty much a noob in gaming laptops
is redline boost on GPU or OS worth the money on this laptop?

You wouldn't play games at 3200x1800, you'd play at 1600x900. Its perfect integer scaling so it would look as or better than running a 1600x900 screen at native resolution. A 3200x1800 LCD would also look better at 1280x720 than a 1920x1080 panel scaling 1280x720.

It's nothing you can't do yourself, essentially it's just changing a few settings on the OS and bam.
Also it won't even help that much with performance tbh.

Agree with Retroceded. Basically they just overclock your GPU and/or make minor tweaks to the OS settings that probably will not realize you any real world performance. At least from the OS side. With the GPU, it's as simple as downloading one of the many overclocking programs out there and sliding a bar 5 Mhz at a time and running benchmarks/stability tests to see if it's stable. The process takes about 10-20 minutes of reading and maybe an hour of tinkering to do it yourself.

Looks like pre-orders are up for excaliberpc as well. Not sure if I should pre-order now or wait for newegg to start selling them.

Very interested, but can someone confirm these battery facts for me?

XoticPC specs for CF1 and CF2 are both
    Battery: Li-polymer, 11.1V (47.73Wh)

    XcaliberPC specs for both are
    Battery Li-Polymer, 11.1V, 75.81Wh

    Dynamism specs are
    Power
    up to 8 hours
    CF1 - Li-polymer, 11.1V, 75.81Wh
    CF2 - Li-ion 6 cell

Are they all really different or what?

Edit- nvm, they're listed as 75.81 Wh in Xotic now

    Yes, I can.

I called up XOTIC PC and they told me as long as nothing gets gigabyte delayed again they are expecting stock 1-2 weeks.

    Same thing for ExcaliberPC.

Dynasium I found by adding it to the cart.

Pretty sure that the xoticpc battery info is just wrong; the official gigabyte p35k product page says: Li-Polymer, 11.1V, 75.81Wh

I think the 47.74 Wh battery is the one for the p34g. The 75.81 Wh is for the p35k.

This was one of the first units that Gigabyte sent out to be tested. Before they went all black. The laptop has greatly improve (as expected with all the delays) and the keyboard has become backlit.

The official line is that the only things which are "User upgradeable" is the RAM.

Everything else has to be done by a service centre (the cost in the UK was £35 + Shipping).

Worst part about living in Hong Kong. Every single DAMNED thing that is ever produced goes through your city, but when you want to order it? Hey uh...let's send it to the US then import it? Yeah sounds good. Stupid s***s

It's not 100% clear but Gigabyte's comments on the whole situation (re: Xoticpc not having ANY option regarding internal ODD) seems to suggest that it's very likely the laptop already comes with ODD (DVD) + caddy. But they also seemed to suggest that it may vary region to region. Once the resellers have this exact info in hand, they may be able to offer upgrades (eg. Blu-Ray drives)

EDIT - Xoticpc is now showing the ODD as default but no upgrade options (at least not yet?)

My question is, how noisy will it be compared to an Asus G75/750? I had a clevo a few years ago that sounded like a turbo prop waiting to takeoff, Noise will be one of the main criteria.

I have heard/read it has a global warranty. Does anyone have a link to the relivent document from gigabyte? I've been looking but can't find it. Thanks

I wonder if different resellers will have different ship dates. I want to order from gentechpc or newegg to get some discounts but if excaliberpc, dynamism or xoticpc ship faster I might just go with that.

Order form excaliberpc, they ship the fastest.

I went with xoticpc because I wanted to add an ssd, and I wanted to know that they will not be shipping me a dead unit.

I hope that is the case, as they haven¨t even really gotten the machines yet; I've e-mailed them and they said they're waiting to receive them from Gigabyte. I hope that this can be upgrade-able, as I would want to get a blu-ray drive if possible.

Otherwise, does anyone have an idea if the computer would take a standard slim drive, and what height it would be? Aside from the faceplate not matching up, would it work?

I was wondering if the swappable ODD has a blu-ray option
Is it the default drive or can it be ungraded?

I want to upgrade the wireless card as well. I'm pretty sure I could do it myself but the prices at xoticpc are about the same as buying oem and installing myself and it wouldn't break the warranty. Although I tried to talk to a rep through the chat earlier and they seemed a little clueless, calling the laptop a Lenovo when I was talking about the gigabyte.

Redbox and I've been starting to pick up some blu-rays of TV shows. It's not necessary for me as I have a PS3 but it would nice to have as an option, especially if I go on the road.

Are you sure that's not just the old production mockup? If thunderbolt was to be included I'm sure they would advertise it quite prominently. The old reviews from c. June/July mentioned TB ports, some of which were blocked out by rubber stoppers.

On a side note, a heartfelt thank you to all the contributors to this thread! I've been following it since Late July and I refresh this page multiple times during the day :p. Hopefully we can get our long awaited laptop shortly!

Ok thank you, I'm looking for a way to decide between those two ;)

Do you guys think the much bigger battery (75.81Wh for P35K vs 47.73Wh for P34G) will compensate for the slightly bigger screen and gpu performance and still can hope for better battery life?

I expect it to beat the P34G in the same test, 5+ hours. Plus it will probably be underclocked on batery also.

Agreed. You shouldn't worry about the GPU draining too much battery if optimus is working properly. The only difference between the two in that case would be screen power draw but the bigger battery should make up for it no problem. Also I think one of the units is rated for 507 minutes but I forget which one. If you undervolt your CPU you should be able to pull out a lot more performance and reduce the screen brightness.

EDIT: Scrolling through FB page again. P34g is 518 minutes and P35k is 475 minutes using mobile mark 7. So expect at least those times.

Imported I presume? Concern being the number of RB14's that have needed to go back with minor issues makes an import risky in my opinion. Who did you use to import? How much did it cost with taxes etc?

It's mostly aluminum with only the bottom panel being plastic I believe. Not quite the all aluminum of the razer blade.

I'm looking for a place to order the P35k too, how is the service at Excalibur? I had a sour taste from ordering from Xotic, bought a UX51 and had to go through hoops before they admitted the unit was defective. Then I had to pay both the return shipping plus pay back the "free shipping" to get a refund OR exchange if I wanted a replacement.
