Hey man, I have the same behavior on an Aero 15W with GTX1060. Therefore and also in order to improve battery life I set up the Control Center to use Performance mode when plugged in and use Power Saver mode when on battery. I also set the fan mode to quiet when I am on battery. This way the notebook is totally silent while browsing or watching movies. In my opinion the lower CPU (and be careful, usually lower WLAN) performance is not a limiting factor for such easy tasks.
What you could also try is to use the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility and set the CPU TDP to 15-25W. As far as I know in quiet mode the CPU is anyway limited to 15W, but you can also play around manually. I often benefit from this setting when I play less demanding games and don't want to generate that much heat in Performance mode.

I had almost the same issue: I used a decent quality USB3 hub for my mouse and keyboard and cooling pad. Only in Firefox I experienced the same freezing of the screen and sometimes my keyboard behaved like it would have been stuck in (i.e. asdddddddddd). However, for me the problem never happened in any other application, only in Firefox as I can remember. I have removed the hub which solved the issue in 90%, rarely I still have mouse freeze after clicking on a link.
I will try to collect a USB-C hub as well and test it, would be great to have a solution.

I just check and you can find the color profile such as LGD05C0 from SmartManager's color folder. On my laptop, it's under C:\Program Files\SmartManagerV4\color\P65\LGD05C0

Did you have any success with a USB-C hub? This is driving me nuts...

I have not bought any USB-C hub yet... I will share my experience as soon as I get one.

Started getting random reboots (Aero 15X V8) which take me to the BIOS screen with the following message:
ROM image is not loaded. ROM image update denied

They come at random times. Can be 2 days in a row, can go 2 weeks without one. Never seen the error happen. Just come back to the laptop having rebooted to that message. I always hit Escape, it asks me if i want to exit without saving, I hit yes, and then it boots normally.

Any thoughts on how to fix? Running latest BIOS (FB0A) since October. Should I downgrade BIOS, reinstall current, try a CMOS clear, or something else?

    Thanks!

I have bought a USB-C hub from ANKER (Amazon). Well, so far I haven't had any issue. However, I am a little confused, because I tried my previous USB (non-C) hub (ANKER as well), and now the notebook sometimes didnt want to recognize it... actually this hub seems to be faulty. Moreover, at my parents I tried a different hub, which also caused mouse lags in the past, but now it was OK. Maybe Windows updates fixed our issue? I will let you know if I have again the lagging with the new USB-C hub.

    Hi!
Well, first of all, I have never had any issue with the IDLE power consumption and my battery life has been always great but I will try to help you.
I attach my ThrottleStop and Smart Manager settings. I have been always using the latest Smart Manager. I have never used custom fan profile. For normal daily activities I activate the Normal mode and on battery I usually set the Quiet mode. In ThrottleStop I have the same undervoltage preset for both battery powered and AC powered states. (UV is -130mV for both CPU and cache, see on screenshots). At the moment I apply a power limit of 20W, but before that I used the standard 53W without problem.
In the Windows Power Settings, by default my active schema is the Smartmanager Power Saver when operating from battery. This schema is pretty much the default one from Gigabyte. In the CPU power settings the min CPU power is 5%, while the max is 100%.
Let me know if I could help you.

I have zero issues with the keyboard, and I've had my AERO 15 OLED SA for over six months, I'm a freelance writer and write thousands of words a day. The keyboard is absolutely the best I've had to work with in years, and I've had a lot of machines.

    I have Aero 15X v7 (i7-7700 HQ) with 1 ram slot occupied with a Kingston DDR4-2400 CL17 16GB RAM.
I have done the due homework on compatible RAMs but many of them are not available in my country.

What are the chances that this Crucial Ram ( Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 CL17 CT8G4SFS824A ) might work along with the already occupied kingston ?

Hello I have question about the rubber around the fhd aero 15 x v8 display panel?
is there any place I can find it and order?
i attempt to replace 4k display panel with fhd panel and everything go so smooth until I want to remove this rubber that is around d the screen, it was little damaged at the end.
and by the way the 4k display have overall size 2,44 mm smaller then fhd display and the rubber is not fitting inside the frame anyway.

I have been tuning my 15x v8 and after undervolting the CPU, clean install and a WD Blue SN550 SSD it's running great. CPU Temp stays below 85c under heavy load and runs at 3.9-4 GHz. Haven't repasted so far.
    I need advice:

    1. I am trying to install HX426S15IB2K2/32 - two sticks of 16 gb hiperx ram. So far it doesn't even post. I came across others getting this ram to work - any advice? My bios has never been updated, I think it's FB03. My guess is that updating it might allow me to use the memory.

    2. I can't update the bios because my battery is dead. Any way to get around the battery check on the flash utility? I've ordered a new battery, but that would take a month ;(

    3. I've tried to OC the 1070 with afterburner, but can't get past 1575 MHz on the core - keeps hitting the power limit. Any way to go higher? What is the optimal way to set the voltage curve in afb? I'm getting around 13200 fire strike scores, but I've seen people post results well past 14k
    Thanks

Just an update on upgrading ram on the aero 15x v8 (8750h)
the fastest ram i could find was hyperx CL15 2666 HX426S15IB2K2.
It utilities either hynix o r samsung b-die and THAT'S where the problems start. I have confirmed with gigabyte - this laptop prefers samsung ram chips.
The hynix equipped HuperX ram have issues as follows:
2x16gb (32 total) does not work at all; if you mix one of these and a different stick (crucial / v color, etc.) it works at 2400mhz, (sometimes at CL14)
    2x8gb (16 total) works just fine - dual channel, 2666 cl15
8gb + 16 gb (24gb total) works at 2666 cl15 with16gb in dual channel and (i think) 8gb in single channel. That's what i have running at the moment.

If anyone knows where to get a 32gb kit of kingston hyperx HX426S15IB2K2 with samsung b-die, please post a comment.
as a result i now have a 16gb stick of hyperX and the original 16gb v-color heading to ebay.

Unrelated advice: i just replaced the battery as well - be careful and do not pinch the battery cables with the center screw of the back cover - its very easy to sever the thin wires.

I'm done upgrading/tweaking this machine. its finally running great :)

Has anyone installed Windows 2004 on Aero15x? I use XTU for undervolting but I read that Intel has a new microcode for 8750H which blocks the undervolting via XTU. New microcodes can be distributed via new BIOS or via new Windows builds. So I am not sure what will happen after upgrade to Windows 2004.

Then you are still on the older microcode. Good to know.
