    Hi everyone,

Can anyone please tell me if the Aero 15W V8-CF1 still has those issued nowadays ( April 2019 ) ?

And also if Gigabyte and Windows has effective updates that solves the drivers issues?

My machine's delivery is schedule for tomorrow, It will be great if you can please advise me with a initial setup to get things working smoothly with a Samsung EVO 970 Plus upgrade or if i just return it upon arrival.

    Many thanks in advance.

Wanted to do a clean install of mine in the next month or 2 (v8), and saw contr center seemed to work. So you're saying a recent control center update caused it to stop working with v8s? Wonder if the older version would still work. Annoying that v8s, less than a year old aren't getting this.

Control Center 19.02.23.01 seems to work on the v8 but not 19.03.30.02. Launching the latter will result in it exiting immediately.

I think they do it just to prevent people using it on the v8 or earlier. Not going to buy another gigabyte laptop because of its lack of support. Is just a year old yet seems like there are no more support already

Just got mine today. I am really happy with it, but really unhappy with the fan noise. I read the posts, from what I see, I have to reduce the voltage. Could you guys confirm this to a noob? Like step by step to reduce the noise? Thanks!

The new smartUpdate for gen 8 seems to link driver from gen 9 right now (at least for Nvidia Driver). Testing april 14 driver for Nvidia and finger crossed the bsod is more stable.

    update: Still bsod

Can someone upload or point me to a LGD05C0 icm color profile?

The awful Transcend SSD died within 3 months of use. My system hung and glitched at times. It was usable, but annoying. Finally Windows got into a reboot cycle that I couldn't fix. Eventually the SSD stopped registering at all in the BIOS.

I replaced it with a 970 EVO plus. The system feels WAY better. An incredible difference. Installing it was annoying, as the cheap screw for the 2nd SSD bay stripped very easily. Very easy otherwise, my first time opening a laptop.

Anyhow, the color profile is on the SSD that is now dead, and I'm not sure if it will ever boot again. I found the LGD color profile online somewhere before, but I'm not sure where. So please point me to it or upload it if you can.

i downloaded the GGG file at the first post and placed it in color folder however the smart manager is still not letting me click the option. i also downloaded xrite on the smart update app and reinstalled smart manager but still doesn't seem to work.

I'm having the same issue with xrite. I got it to work before, but since I'm on another install with new SSD, it won't work. I can enable Pantone in Smart Manager, but it doesn't do anything. There's no .icc file named LGD05C0 like there used to be in C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color. The xrite setup doesnt seem to contain any icc files.

Edit: Wow, just found it on my system. I googled for GGG_LCD05C0 and a random Chinese site mentioned it being in C:\Program Files\Display Profiles. Try installing it manually to the color profile folder.

After installing the profile manually, I can now switch on Pantone mode and see a noticeable difference in the colors like I used.

So i installed fresh SSD nvme on the secondary slot and made it my primary bootable drive. however it is not visible in the bios? it still boots to it since i reformatted the original ssd.

I am not sure how to make it visible in the bios since its only selection is the old SSD

Any advice would be great. Thanks

--Solved. Just fixed the EFI file of the new SSD. Now working

Hey, I'm thermal throttling at 90C when running CS:GO, this isn't a very demanding game and the CPU utilisation is only at around 15%. Is this normal/is there anything I can do about this? Thanks

Just install throttlestop and cap your cpu clock at 2.4 ghz. And undervolting at around 150mv.

I have successfully unlocked all BIOS menus for the Aero 15X v8 BIOS (FB0A). Please check out the following link.

I can now undervolt my CPU to -150mv in the OverClocking Performance Menu :)

Holy crap! Looks like they finally added advanced BIOS options and settings. Anything in there look like it allows other RAM sticks, not just the 3 they have as "supported".

And anything else stand out as useful?

Actually it's a BIOS mod so you have to dump and patch it yourself. Under Chipset->System Agent (SA) Configuration->Memory Configuration there are tonnes of RAM related settings. No idea if that will allow you to use other types of RAM.

There are lots of settings that are useful to me since I dual boot macOS and Windows.

I wish it was that easy but you will have to unlock it then dump, patch and flash it yourself. I have provided a link with instructions here.

I always find undervolting the cpu and gpu really helps the most with heat.

It depends what your goals are. I really wanted an undervolt from the bios, plus it's cool to see what else there is to do. If you're not into bios modding or taking the risk of bricking your system, it's probably not worth it...

A quick update, I've had to unplug the CMOS battery to reset the bios after it didn't like my attempt to OC the ram. Just an FYI in case you are messing around and your Aero15 no longer boots...

Yeah I also suggest using software to test CPU undervolting to check system stability before doing it in the BIOS.

If you're going to be a little more experimental with settings it may be worth getting an EEPROM programmer so you can easily make a backup to restore the BIOS if necessary.

Incidentally how hard is it to access the CMOS battery in the Aero 15?

Good call on testing the undervolt via throttle stop or something first, I just copied my stable settings from TS to the bios.

I do have an EEPROM programmer, otherwise I probably wouldn't have messed with editing the bios, lol.

Accessing the CMOS battery is super easy. Just take the back cover off, unplug the system battery, and then right near that area is another plug with two wires (red and black I think) and that's the CMOS battery.

I have encountered a problem with my keyboard lighting and I have hope to fix it by resetting my machine.
However that resulted to another problem. My battery capacity is now down to 3.5 hours while it was 6.5 hours previously. I don't know what setting I have set that makes this like this. I have tried to update the bios using
the smart update app but the issue is still there. I also tried to uninstall smart manager, smart update and even
the RGB fusion app but my battery capacity is still 3.5 hours. I have tried the solution suggested here in this forum but I still does not work. I hope some can help me.

Sorry for re-posting this here. But I have no one is answering me in the other threads. I have done every solution that were suggested in this forum but the problem still persist. My keyboard problem still persist but now the issue with the battery causes more problem to me.

I hope I you can help me.

what was the problem with your ram? Are you trying to run a sodimm at 3000mhz?
I managed to similarly unlock my bios (Aero15 OLED XA) but I have yet to buy an upgraded stick of ram yet, was it just plain not letting you do it?

I have a weird problem with my Aero 15x/v8: Whenever I connect a USB hub to it and attach any number of devices to that, my screen freezes (including mouse movement, keyboard input and everything else) for a second every few seconds.

When I plug the devices directly into the laptop, everything is fine. I tried several USB hubs with and without external power supplies but the problem remains. I also tried different mice but this doesn't help either.

I have throttled down my CPU according to this thread and I also tried running the CPU in 99% and 100% max performance (in Windows 10 power settings).
Is this a known problem and is there any solution for this?

Do you mean the mouse pointer freezes every now and then, or the entire display? For me, when there's heavy disk usage on a USB drive via a USB hub, the mouse freezes every other second or so, super annoying.

Everything freezes. In games, there is no movement at all for a second or so and in Windows, even the mouse cursor doesn't move. Keyboard input is also stopped - it's basically like a freeze crash but then it recovers after a second. I had no drives connected to the USB hub. I tried it with any combination of mouse, keyboard and/or USB sound card and the problem occurs every time.

    Hello,

Just got my Aero 15 Classic SA (9750h, 1660ti) a few days ago, and I'm still trying to get my head around a few things - wondering if anyone had any advice for me.

My biggest issue at the moment is the fan management systems, particularly at idle/just doing very basic browsing. The fans are constantly ramping up and down like a jet fighter - not to maximum, but going from silent for 30 seconds, then ramping up to 30%, then higher, then back down again. I've tried using the Gigabyte control centre to mess around with the fan settings, and although "quiet mode" does indeed make it quiet, it's only for 30 seconds, then the fans ramp, as above. All the drivers are up to date and I've tried disabling Azure AI, doing a clean install of windows, undervolting but nothing helps.

Obviously it's a tight chassis and I'm totally fine with the fans firing up when I'm actually using the CPU/GPU heavily, but at very low loads? Not that cool. My previous machine from a different manufacturer was smaller and thinner again, with a GPU and i9, so I know it's not just a sacrifice I have to live with.

At this point I'm looking at returning this laptop - there's no way I can just live with this noise, and certainly could never take it anywhere public, or to meetings etc - which is why I went for this machine and it's fairly stealth looks/form factor in the first place.

Is there anything else you could suggest I try? Things I could check? What are my next steps to making this a more pleasant machine when browsing etc.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Thank you!

I had the exact same problem like many others with my Aero 15x/w and here is what fixed it for me:
    • In Windows, go to Power Options. "Change Plan Settings" for your currently active power plan (for me it's always SmartManager High Performance). Go to "Change advanced power settings". Expand "Processor Power Management" - "Maximum Processor State". Set "On battery" and "Plugged in" to 99% as seen below. If I now switch to Quite mode in Control Centre, it actually stays quiet. I can't notice the difference in performance - even in games. If you do play very performance intensive games, you might want to switch that back and use Gaming instead of Quiet mode.

    • use ThrottleStop to undervolt the CPU as described in the first post. I'm not sure if that's really required but I did it before I found out above.
This also fixed very annoying and weird coil beeping when moving the mouse.

Thank you very much for the detailed response. This unfortunately hasn't changed anything - the fan still comes on and off constantly. Anything else you could think of?

After changing the curve in Afterburner to undervolt, does the program need to be open for this to be in effect or can I close it and forget about it after changing the curve?

AFB needs to run at boot, loads a systray app if you have it set to do so - you can exit it after you boot, the setting is completed... then it's "Safety Dance"... :)
