So here is the side by side video given perspective on keyboard flex close up. Both are new units. The R2 unit has had the keyboard removed and reinstalled by HidEvolution. If this was you laptop and you paid $2300 for it would you send it back?

    Revision 1 P35
    https://vimeo.com/101572554

    Revision 2 P35
    https://vimeo.com/101558313

The question is, is the R2 a return or not. To me it seems like a trampoline compared to R1.
There is def some movement in R1 keyboard but even the X key moves while pushing the number 2 on the R2 unit.

I watched the videos on the website and i see the flex of the keyboard. My keyboard does a similar thing and i think there is nothing much we can do, because of the way the keyboard was designed. It is just a thin aluminum plate and only 3 screws hold it to the chassis. The edges are hold only by plastic clips. I have to say that the worse part of this laptop is the keyboard, even worse than the screen.

What's wrong with the screen? Besides the light bleeding.

Viewing angles are not very good at least in my unit which uses a LG screen. Also, the light bleeding can be very bad in some units as i posted before.

I talked to gigabyte on facebook regarding repasting the cpu and gpu myself and the advise me not to do it cuz my warranty would be void. The service centre here in MEL confirmed that.

Could you exlain which values you used with Intel XTU? Because I'm quite a noob and I'm a bit afraid of the warning message "you'll destroy your computer ect :)"
Also if someone is doing a deep tuning, please do not hesitate to share (with a small tuto)

In Intel XTU > Click on the Manual Tuning Tab and All Controls.

You will see the multipliers, 1-4 Active Cores. I just reduced mine to 25x the same base clock for the 4710HQ, so as to limit the throttling the Turbo Boost from powering up.
Turbo boost is like an auto overclock on your CPU,

Don't forget to Apply your settings and also save it..

I don't even want to touch up on the voltage settings as it is a trial and error method..

    Hi guys,
So i bought the p35g a few days ago and was going to ask this on that thread but since its the same case and this is much more popular i thought id ask here..(The answers will be the same for either laptop, so good info to have)
Does anyone know of a sleve and bag (seperate or together) that fit this laptop? Ones ive found have been too small for it.
And two, does anyone know of another power adapter that is smaller that would do the job (available online)? The adapter that came with it is a brick :|

The adapter is actually pretty decent in size. Anything comparable in power is typically larger.

If you are looking for universal adapters, ASUS tips work. Of course, ASUS branded adapters work too. They are all larger though.

To game you generally need 180W adapter. P35G will game with 150W adapter. Anything less powerful will throttle laptop: modern adapters have builtin overload protection and limit output current if overloaded.

If you are not going to stress laptop on the go, it'll work even from 95W adapter. I use mine with USNA-A1 universal from Cooler Master (ASUS tip). I have not found anything more portable yet.

For a bit more power output this is what I'm pining for. This will allow for CPU intensive tasks and light gaming on the go.

Is it normal to see the dGPU being switched on and off sporadically while not gaming/doing graphically-intensive tasks? I can see the its clock speed jumping from "not available" to XXX MHz and vice versa. I was sort of hoping the GPU would remain [more] completely off so only the iGPU would be used.

HID told me to give it to the customer and see of they complain. I guess I am going to try that although it's not my favorite suggestion in the world.

Laptop came in today! Really happy so far. Few things:
ninite saved me so much god damn time, how did i not know about this site before, thank you vgfelix!
speakers arent as loud as i thought they would be, i dont hear ANY bass at all, im actually half way hoping ibuypower disconnected it by accident.
keyboard flex is there but not noticable when actually typing, keys are very shallow but typing experience is still pretty good.
I bought mine from Ibuypower, it came with a HUGE ibuypower sticker on the back i peeled off. the top right of the screen has a stick that says "assembled and tested in usa" Im keeping it. patriotic and .
redownloading most my game library now, bioshock infinite finished first and runs really well. i had to turn down the shadows from ultra to very high to get 60 fps. Computer gets hot and loud quick, but i think ill be able to manage it.

I've had my laptop for a month now and everything is fine. I can handle the noise, I don't notice any significant flex in the keyboard, no problems with the screen, and it performs nicely. Any trouble I have would be software-related (system restore broken because I messed with UAC).

You should put the dolby app on, this should increase the volume which comes out of the speakers. I had the same problem, before turning this on, and the volume/quality of videos etc are much better.

Sorry to keep asking, but has anyone who has the laptop been able to play Starcraft 2 fine? I'm having major problems with framerate and lag on mine since I got it. Thanks!

Is the game running on the integrated GPU? Try forcing it by right-clicking the game executable and choose to run using the dedicated GPU.

Yea it's definitely running on the dedicated GPU, have tried playing it on an old NVIDIA driver, and the newest driver as well. Even played in offline mode, and on low settings which only minimally helps. I'm really at a loss, without reformatting everything.

Have you tried the game on the notebook? Does it run okay?

    Not IPS cuz that is a LG branding thing. But it is a AVHA which is a like product. they just can't call it IPS if its not LG. Shenker Just confirmed via email that their variant of the P35w v2 will come with either the IPS or AVHA variant of the screen. They said they hadn't even heard of the non-IPS variant. heres the email;

"Our warranties cover parts an labour for the full term (2/3/4 years) and collection and return within mainland Europe, UK and Ireland. Anyone outside of mainland Europe, UK and Ireland will have to cover the shipping costs. For more information please see our knowlegebase article here:
What are your warranty options? - Powered by Kayako Fusion Help Desk Software

The screen we use is AUO B140HAN01.1 . IPS is a brand name but also the specific technology, only LG panels are true IPS. The AUO panel is “AHVA” rather than “IPS”, however they are both produce the same result which “IPS” panels are known for – 300cd/m2 brightness, 700:1 contrast ratio:

Viewing angle on the AUO is 85 horizontal, 85 vertical. Our C504 will only ship with 2 panels, don’t know where this third one has come from.
The other panel is an LG Philips, basically the same specification as the AUO.

If you have any further questions, please let us know.

    Regards,

    Jack."

Also a response about their warranty incase you wanted to know.

The CyberpowerPC barebones version has an IPS panel, although I'm not sure how I feel about a barebones P35W... seems to be missing an mSATA port and the hot swap capability.

I've repasted my gpu and cpu and i can say that temps are way better now. 85c max on both gpu and cpu playing watch dogs on high everything. State of decay 70c max on ultra settings for cpu. I was getting 89c playing state of decay. I'm so happy now.

Schenker hasn't got these in stock till September so I'll wait for the Asus GX500. It hasn't got the number pad I dislike and also a touchscreen (which I do use a lot in bed to navigate). Not a fan of the UHD resolution and the glossy screen but I can live with that.
It will come down to the noise and temperature anyway.

It's hard to find a slim notebook without an ODD which allows decent gaming

    Sound good!
But you've lost your warranty right? And if your official Gigabyte retail do it, is that the same?

Just another question regarding the kyeboard issue: can we change for another one or only this one will work on the P35W?

The service centre did the repaste for me, so i still have my warranty. The keyboard is the same as the Aorus x7, however i don't think any other keyboard will fit on the chassis.

Guys, how do you find the keyboard for typing on? I am thinking of pushing the button on a P35G (Schenker XMG C504) for a god blend of gaming and working, but have concerns over how easy and accurate it is to rattle out some long documentation.

    Any insight please? :)

When you said "service center" it means your official retailer or a Gigabyte center? (Sorry I'm in France so I don't how it works :))
    How much did it costs?

The keyboard of the aorus x7 has the smae flex?

    Looks very attractive option :)

The keyboard is fine. Better than most laptop keyboards. It is about 95% as good as my old Alienware M17x r2 keyboard which is the best I've used, and at on par with the best chicklet type ones I've used. For doing a lot of typing for serious work I use a mechanical keyboard (and external monitor).

Excellent feedback thanks, as my Acer V3 571G that I have now has an appalling keyboard, and it really ruins my overall experience. Do you also get a lot of flex, or is it pretty solid? :)

I have own my laptop for almost a month now. My battery's wear level is now at 3% and the full charge capacity has decreased almost 1500wh. How is that possible in a new laptop?? Is there any way to improve this??

On the other hand, i've been getting nice temps playing with intel XTU. While playing watch dogs which is the most demanding game i have, i'm getting 84c for the cpu and 83c or 85c for the gpu. Temps are very similar for both GPU and CPU since i repasted both. Playing state of decay on ultra settings i get on both cpu and gpu no more than 79c or 80c which is a big improvement from the 89c i was getting on the cpu. Is it a good thing that both cpu and gpu has now similar temps?. I think it's worth to use intel XTU cuz the fans work less than without using it.

I've noticed that local retailers (Memory Express) have received 1 or 2 of each of the Gigabyte models; P34Gv2, P35Gv2, P15Fv2, P35Wv2, and Aorus X7v2. Which means that the backorder should be over soon.

Mine just reached my house today and I ordered it July 9 (shipped Aug 1). However, I will be sending it back and getting a refund due to a laptop being released that better suits my needs; more work, less gaming.

This looks like a great laptop, it is just not for me.

I'd rather pay more for something I need rather than something I would be compromising for; I don't need a gaming laptop that might run CAD programs smoothly. For an extra $400 I get an extra 8GB of RAM and a pro GPU that has the driver support for the software that I use. The latter of which is a huge selling feature knowing that my computer will run CAD properly.

Plus buying from a local retailer instead of online means I will get better support; Gigabyte does not have any service centers in Canada which means that I would have to send it to California. MSI has service centers in Canada which greatly reduces shipping costs.

I just ordered mine today. It should arrive on the 16th or so. I'm excited. I hope repasting and a cooling pad will help it keep cool enough. It combines gaming power and portability which is important to me for my job.
