    @Cakefish
I think you should do the honors and make the real owners thread!
Then we can keep this thread for benchmarking and other news(when you get the time)

Thats one reason why I bought it yesterday instead of waiting for Cakefish's review since I'm afraid once it does come out, lots of folks would want to buy it and the fact that I just got my tracking and will be getting it Thurs 11/6 (thats 2 day int DHL shipping UK to US).

Good idea folks. Best to start a dedicated P35X thread rather than clutter up this joint P35X and P35W thread with solely P35X benchmarks and impressions.

It is NOT the same, but really close and obviously in English. If you get upset over a missing key or moved key you may not be happy. For me it didn't seem like I would even notice, hell I still look for keys all the time since I use so many keyboards and they all seem to be a bit different.

Subscribing to the other thread, but where did you guys order the UK one from that's shipping so fast? Also what were the customizations? Could you tell me what the diff is w/ the keyboard? I'm pretty sure I could order an alternate part and get it swapped out, however if its easier / faster to get now I'd rather cancel w/ Xotic and buy there.

I have to ask Gigabyte now.

Seeing as XoticPC gets it from the Vendor first it's odd that the Vendor doesn't have the stock of them, granted since its soldered I understand XoticPC can't change it out, but I seriously feel that the CPU diff is what the 980 would need...

The P35X V3 CF1 was said to be an Overclockers UK only exclusive model as stated by a Gigabyte rep on the Overclockers forums. I really hope we do see it offered from XoticPC or Gentech stateside, but it looks unlikely. The warranty is global though, so could always order from overseas...

I just got off the phone with Gigabyte.

The 4860 option with 1K or 3K screens will be available on Nov 20 with Newegg apparently.

    And, guess what.

According to this rep, the mobo supports 16GBx2.

Somehow, I'm still not convinced. If I can get these specs confirmed, this is instant pre-order.

Well I'm certainly getting more and more tempted on getting the P35X v3 CF1, but I have a problem. I'm not a lover of matte screens, in fact I've never liked matte screens period. I know, I'm probably the minority as most users probably prefer matte. Would anyone know if there be an option for glossy screen on the P35X v3?

I prefer glossy as well. Initially the 3k option on XoticPC was listed as glossy, but it seems this was a typo that has since been corrected.

It's not too much of an issue for me, as I will likely often use it with projector or external display.

    Gigabyte is based in Taiwan.

It is rather odd isn't it? Asia and the US usually get new tech products before us. It is only CF1 that is available here at the moment though, CF2 is still on preorders. Must be something to do with the exclusive contract between Overclockers UK and Gigabyte for the CF1.

I agree in so much that I would eventually plug it into a larger external display at some point (as similar to my previous setup several months ago), but for the period before and for on and off sole laptop only gaming occasions I would still feel relieved if there's a glossy option. So I fired them a question at the Gigabyte Support portal and will wait for their response. I sent them the following message:-

"Hi, this is a pre-sales question.

Does the P35X v3 CF1 have a 'glossy screen' option, or will it have a glossy screen option?

I do not like matte screens and never have liked them.

Glossy screens on the display look infinitely better and give a much better overall picture and experience in contrast to the dull, lifeless lack-lustre micro-diffusion-blurring picture of a matte which can even be offensive to the eyes of many.

I do understand that some laptop users in offices may give preference to dull matte screens because of strong office lighting and multiple windows in the buildings, which naturally makes sense. However the P35X v3 CF1 is geared towards gaming with it's internal high-end Graphics GPU and I do my gaming at home and not in an office.

I look forward to you rely.

    Regards"

I don't think this alone will fully change my mind whether to go for the P35X v3 or not, as the P35X v3 is certainly an impressive beast.

I did have trouble initially deciding which machine to aim for; either the Aorus X7 Pro v3 or the P35X v3, but I'm swayed more towards the latter even though the Aorus X7 Pro v3 has a significantly higher 3D Mark 11 Score at P14000+ because of it's SLI GPU's, whereas the P35X v3 has a score of P10000+. That's pretty Significant which leads me to think it's a real shame the P35X v3 doesn't have a 'pro' version with GTX 980M's in SLI which are better cards than the 970's after all. Could you imagine the 3D Mark 11 score then... the mind boggles!

I would be careful comparing an SLI score to a single GPU score. I would always compare single to single, with the knowledge that in the best case scenario you may get more performance, rather than count on that higher performance that you may not see in your favorite games.

Many games won't work right with SLI, or require tinkering with driver versions and SLI modes to find what ones actually net better performance. You are left with running driver X to get a certain game to work better, but it may be that driver Y actually runs other games better, and driver or setting Z has less stuttering but causes other issues. Overclocking can be a little harder too, getting both cards to run at their best and getting clocks to stick.

If you are fine with all that and love tinkering, then you may like SLI. I used to many years ago, now I just prefer to play games and not have to mess with things. I say this as someone who has owned many AMD and Nvidia xfire and SLI machines.

Very true and is something that I've took on-board from other reviews. Hence why this is my other biggest reason (secretly) to go for the P35X v3 with it's less potential for headaches from only a single GPU card and better compatibility with older games - as I'm not really one for spending endless time tweaking away; I just want to jump straight into a game/match with great performance and minimum messing about..

The reason for being slightly hesitant and unsure though, was because I'm a sucker for playing BF4 & BF3 online and tend to only play these two games most of the time (online). Anything else rarely gets a look in. Unless mistaken I'm under the impression BF4 & 3 is improved significantly with GPU's in SLI or have I mis-interpreted?

Despite that I'll still consider going for the better compatibility option, so will be more than happy with the single 980 card (which is a better card anyway).

I did watch the rather interesting YouTube video someone posted a link to (some pages back) showing BF4 running on the P35X v3 which appears to be impressive, however I posted an interesting question under the comments (as Star1 child) which hopefully may get answered.

I do believe the newer BF games (and AAA games in general) have much better support for SLI. In addition to new AAA titles, I like to play less known games and older games a lot too which probably caused much of the grief I've experienced.

The problems with the Aorus X7 Pro will be the CPU throttle and overheating from GPUs. The previous get throttled at 70°C, let's see if it will get improve.

Nice, I'd like to see how they respond to that.
The Aorus X7 Pro is quite beastly; however, it is limited to 3GB VRAM, which is already below recommended specs for some recent games. This is a somewhat expensive purchase, so I'd be concerned that over next 4-5 years there will be many more titles calling for more than 3GB VRAM. Also, as dajohu mentions there are going to be some titles that just don't scale with SLI, like id Tech engine games (including the upcoming DOOM4), and in these cases single 980m will perform better.

As for why there is no "pro" version of P35x with 980m SLI, not entirely sure but keep in mind Aorus is a division of Gigabyte, so on some level they are trying to stake out different territory, even though they are competing in the same general segment. Since the first iteration of the Aorus, that product line has always been about dual graphics in a slim 17" package. Now that they have introduced the x3, they are competing more directly with their own P34 line.
