It's funny because they're re-using pictures from the previous versions. I was about to dismayed that they still had a rubber plug in the back for the old vga port, but it seems as though it's just an old picture as the manual doesn't have it. I think as long as the displays aren't terrible, I'll be jumping on board.
My main concern outside of the displays would be whether they've removed one of the m.2 slots since it only lists 2 x Gen3x4 (and there use to be also a Gen3x2 in the v6 model). I think I've given up on Auorus implementing a MUX to switch between dedicated and integrated gpu.

Hello, this is my first post on this thread so bear with me, does this model or the upcoming version have an ethernet port?
-
My temps are 44c max on CPU and 31c for gpu. After loading up and idling while plugged in to charger
-
CPU max is 43c and 41c on GPU on initial boot
Idling for 5 mins to let everything load has the CPU at 35c max and 37c on the GPU

Meh. I'm getting upto 100*C within 30 seconds of desktop. And now it won't boot at all. Stuck at "Reboot and Select proper Boor device or insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key_"
FFS!

If I hit F12 for the boot manager and then click boot from my samsung evo drive, it boots fine.
Any suggestions?
Edit: BIOS was set to boot to the ssd directly not the windows install and legacy OS.Last edited: May 27, 2017 -
Reaching 100% in such a short time really is alarming. Have you looked more into it and found the cause?

Yeah, got my X5 back from MendIT yesterday.
I have looked but not found anything untoward, will go for fresh win 10 install today to see if that changes anything. -

I'm going to try GCLM on the CPU and a non liquid on the GPU.

The X5v7 is looking pretty sweet. Kinda glad they ditched the whole seperate keyboard unit and mated it with the chassis. But it'll probably make repairs much harder since the whole top plate has to be changed rather than just removing the keyboard

Wherecani buy the x5v6 with 120Hz display from Australia.
-
Should wait to buy the v7 or get the v6 when it's price drops?

I meam, cooling is well cool and all. But so is a couple hundred dollars. Honestly I will probably just repaste it and get good temps anyway.

The X5 tends to run a little bit hotter since the components are closer together in an aluminum chassis. Hopefully, since they remapped the heat pipes it can cool better
-
I really like the build of it, seems very sturdy. I would get the x7, but it is a bit too big for my needs. The x3 is too small. And of course having a 1070 and overclockable i7 is pretty sweet.

The build quality for Aorus is up there. Its quite tanky. Definitely a world of difference coming from a Clevo P150SM to my current X7v6. Aluminum was a good choice but given how thin it is, heat tends to build up towards the top of the laptop quite quickly

Do you think a cooling pad would be a good investment?
Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk -
IMO laptop coolers are a good investment for any laptop. I currently run a Notepal U2 and it served me well from my Y580 through my Clevo to my current X7.

Personally i think that the X7 isnt THAT big (coming from a thick af 15in Clevo) given how slim it is but if you dont need the extra real estate that comes with the 17in, the X5 will suit you perfectly.BarnacleBill likes this. -
It's mainly about fitting a carry bag I already have, and not being super heavy. I will likely buy a cooler, I plan on using quite a bit.

I feel you haha. Mine barely fits the bag that i use.
I would recommend the Notepal U3 cooler. It allows you to position the fans directly in to the air intakes or any other area on the bottom that you want fresh air going to -
Awesome, when I get around to actually buying it I'll just get that at the same time!

Which model do you plan to get? The X5?

Yep, that's the plan.

Where did you say the heat was coming from again?
-
hand palm... but it doesnt come from the battery... i have opened it and it's not hot... well it's like that... maybe keyboardlight
-
Do you guys think that the v6 will fall far in price once the v7 comes out?

Guys where can i buy keypad...I Think i broke the letter '' q ''

If it's still new enough - it's an infant mortality failure - you can return it to the seller and get another unit. Otherwise register a support ticket and see if they can send you a replacement keyboard, or if they want you to send in the laptop for RMA replacement. -
Well the hinge is brocken. So I am thinking about changing the letter completely.
I found this website : https://www.quikfixlaptopkeys.com/?product=aorus-x3-plus-v3-single-replacement-keyboard-key
But nothing for our X5.
Any other keyboard can work ? Thanks a lothmscott likes this. -

Anyone have any comparisons to the thermal output of the Aorus to comparative laptops? Considering it as an option when the new refreshes arrive.
