It's funny because they're re-using pictures from the previous versions. I was about to dismayed that they still had a rubber plug in the back for the old vga port, but it seems as though it's just an old picture as the manual doesn't have it. I think as long as the displays aren't terrible, I'll be jumping on board.
My main concern outside of the displays would be whether they've removed one of the m.2 slots since it only lists 2 x Gen3x4 (and there use to be also a Gen3x2 in the v6 model). I think I've given up on Auorus implementing a MUX to switch between dedicated and integrated gpu.

Out of curiosity, what would you be using the third M.2 slot for? I was thinking about what I'd do with three M.2 slots the other day, and all I could come up with was a capture card, Optane card, and a cheap 1TB SSD.

@Jared_T @knibbler and anyone else that has an X*V6 can you run HWMonitor as soon as you notebook boots and tell me the highest temp recorded in the first couple of minutes? Thanks.

Meh. I'm getting upto 100*C within 30 seconds of desktop. And now it won't boot at all. Stuck at "Reboot and Select proper Boor device or insert Boot Media in selected Boot device and press a key_"

    FFS!

    Just to add to this;

If I hit F12 for the boot manager and then click boot from my samsung evo drive, it boots fine.

    Any suggestions?

Edit: BIOS was set to boot to the ssd directly not the windows install and legacy OS.

You've only just had it back from repair as well haven't you mate?

Reaching 100% in such a short time really is alarming. Have you looked more into it and found the cause?

Yeah, got my X5 back from MendIT yesterday.

I have looked but not found anything untoward, will go for fresh win 10 install today to see if that changes anything.

I'm running the grizzly condocnout LM paste on CPU. Prob will never repaste. I'll likely keep this laptop till they produce the X5 with a volta gpu and 1440p/120hz screen.

Nice. What's on the GPU, Not standard paste?

I'm going to try GCLM on the CPU and a non liquid on the GPU.

The X5v7 is looking pretty sweet. Kinda glad they ditched the whole seperate keyboard unit and mated it with the chassis. But it'll probably make repairs much harder since the whole top plate has to be changed rather than just removing the keyboard

Personally i would wait for the v6 price drop. Unless thunderbolt 3 and 4k matter to you, there isnt exactly any significant upgrade coming from the v6. Unless the X5v7s new air intakes at the top tickle your fancy

The X5 tends to run a little bit hotter since the components are closer together in an aluminum chassis. Hopefully, since they remapped the heat pipes it can cool better

I really like the build of it, seems very sturdy. I would get the x7, but it is a bit too big for my needs. The x3 is too small. And of course having a 1070 and overclockable i7 is pretty sweet.

The build quality for Aorus is up there. Its quite tanky. Definitely a world of difference coming from a Clevo P150SM to my current X7v6. Aluminum was a good choice but given how thin it is, heat tends to build up towards the top of the laptop quite quickly

IMO laptop coolers are a good investment for any laptop. I currently run a Notepal U2 and it served me well from my Y580 through my Clevo to my current X7.

So you plan to get the X5?

Personally i think that the X7 isnt THAT big (coming from a thick af 15in Clevo) given how slim it is but if you dont need the extra real estate that comes with the 17in, the X5 will suit you perfectly.

It's mainly about fitting a carry bag I already have, and not being super heavy. I will likely buy a cooler, I plan on using quite a bit.

I feel you haha. Mine barely fits the bag that i use.

I would recommend the Notepal U3 cooler. It allows you to position the fans directly in to the air intakes or any other area on the bottom that you want fresh air going to

So guys, i have may be found the solution : look my battery : it was not installed properly : not on the right side. So i have just changed the position. I had returned the battery. It still heat, but not as much as before.

Please check my temperatures ! 50min of dirty bomb 180fps full hd and let me know.

What else can i do ? put the battery inside a specifc raw material as aluminium or ... whatever ... i don't know :)
Is it possible to use an other battery ? Which one do you recommend

What do you mean "broke"? Did the key stop working - no "q" comes out? Or, did you pop the "q" cap off the keyboard?

If it's still new enough - it's an infant mortality failure - you can return it to the seller and get another unit. Otherwise register a support ticket and see if they can send you a replacement keyboard, or if they want you to send in the laptop for RMA replacement.

Well, with the v6 the idea was to raid 0 the two x4 m.2 slots for work image, and use the third x2 m.2 slot for personal image. The 2.5" would then be used primarily for nightly backups of each images before the images were backed up to my NAS, but it would also have a third 'swap' partition. With no raid controller in v7 and one less m.2 slot, that does 'simplify' things a bit since I don't have to deal with raid issues and FDE (especially with hardware FDE via BitLocker's eDrive), at the relatively small cost of the minor performance degradation.

You need to find the proper way for reseting Nvram for YOUR machine. Either ask Aorus support or other who know the proper way. Can you boot into bios? If you can, load-put default settings.
