Pretty easy. Gigabyte notebooks are pretty serviceable. For the Aero 15, unscrew all the screws on the back panel and you should be able to pry the back panel off.

If youre repasting for the first time i'd recommend you stick with the traditional non liquid metal paste. Gelid GC Extreme and Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut (my prefered non metal paste) are the best on the market right now

Thanks but was thinking of accidentally bending the heatsink is that something that can happen without really knowing? That's one of my concerns

I managed to repaste my X5 without bending the pipes. If you're careful, you'll have no issues.

Same. Repasted mine without bending my heatpipes. Just take care and apply just enough pressure when cleaning the contact plate.

The Aero 15's heatpipes are kinda thick so you i do not think that you will face any problems with it.

    Gentlemen,

First of all thanks a lot for this thread. I really enjoyed reading you from the beggining.
Tools like XTU tweak in commande center, or LM repast, helped me a lot.

Today, my temperature have significantly decreased on CPU (never above 70) but GPU didn't moove...still 72 degree.
I don't know why this LM doesnt work efficiently on GPU ( @MiSJAH seems to face the same issue).

On the other hand, I would like to know if you face this unconfortable situation :

The place where i put my left hand (above the hdd) is really really hot during gaming session, even with the cool temperature I have according to HW monitor.

I have absolutely no explanation why : I have remooved the HDD, I have repasted, and it remains really hot...
Furthemore this is only on left side.

I am thinking about removing the small racks, or add aditionnal copper...but not sure it's a good idea...
For info, I am always using raising tools when I am gaming.

Do you face this issue ?

Btw, anybody have any tweaks to boost the fastboot...it's amazing slow (17s compared to my old G501 from asus is an eternity).

Thanks a lot guys , keep the good works.

I'm a tad bit concerned with the CPU temps as 4.0Ghz isnt that much of an overclock. I'm probably going to do a repaste and run the test again

That route seems rather scary hahaha. Perhaps not yet. I'll probably wait and see what Aorus comes up with over the coming months

Regarding the LM not having much effect on the GPU, i'll take the issue to the LHz peeps on discord. Perhaps they'll know whats wrong with it

I doubt Aorus will provide anymore support to our X5v6...

Thanks for LM questions to LHz.

Btw, nobody has extra heat on the left hand as I mentionned before ? :)

Well, a custom bios would really help if you wanna push it further hahaha. I'm good with how my unit is for now. Heck Im already happy that i could push my GPU to what, almost 2100mhz core.

But all the best if you wanna try it hahah we're routing for ya!

Managed to get a slightly higher score this time

    http://www.3dmark.com/fs/12692755

Looks like my CPU is capped at a max of 4.00Ghz before it decides to crash and my GPU can go up to 2050mhz

87c on the CPU and 71c on the GPU

On the left just under where the screen is. Above the speaker grilles is where it gets hot. It's the gpu. It's hard for the slim chassis to hide that heat.

anybody has tried to access to the ram initially installed ? I would like to switch them to the other side of the mother board ? I suspect them to not cool very well nearby the keyboard.

Is it hard to access ?

Otherwize, I am thinking about using RAM Heatskink to deacrese my left hand palm temperature...If i stick them on the cover and remove the HDD, do you think it can work ?

Allegedly should be with me Friday, as long as the new mobo from Taiwan arrives on time!

If you are certain that is what the cause of the high temps are, give it a go?

I've seen the gigabyte tear down instructions for changing the RAM and decided against it on my machine. There's a guide on the Aorus.com forum with a how-to but again it looks like a complete pita.

Ok. I have sent emails, we will see.

I will also try to play without the battery...

I want to see if it's possible, or if it is the reason of the overheat.

According to the pictures I have seen, I don't have the same one (mine is not dark as all i have seen on the dissambly pictures).

    Hi all,

A mate of mine is looking to purchase the X5 V6 in the WQHD 2880 x 1620 IPS configuration, is there anyone on here who could shed some light on how well the screen performs and if it lives up to the reported brightness of 300 ish nits? Also is there anything else to report about it? He is aware that there is a TN variant of this model but he doesn't like TN screens at all.

    Many thanks,

    Liam.

Im going to guess that those who bought the V6 units were sick of waiting for aorus to refresh with Kaby Lake. Seriously its June already. Everyone else has refreshed their line ups since like what the start of Q1?
